Chapter 1232

After Steven’s explanation, Skylar suddenly understood. Neither she nor Jeremy had noticed the issue with the lighting.

All their attention had been drawn to Paul’s injured face.

“So, it seems like someone has indeed kidnapped them and kept them under control all these years. But what is their motive behind all this? How on earth did they manage to send out this photo?” Skylar was filled with questions.

What truly weighed on Skylar’s mind was why, if they had a chance to reach out, they hadn’t contacted her. Instead, they had chosen to send the email to Jeremy.

Steven seemed to read her thoughts and explained, “They might not have been in a position to contact you directly, or perhaps they were worried it would put you in danger. It’s also possible that they only had enough time to send a single email, which wouldn’t raise any suspicions.”

Skylar nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right, Steven.

“Skye, this situation is complex. But now that we know they’re alive, there are clues we can trace. We’ll take it step by step. Don’t worry, we’ll find them,” Steven added in a reassuring

tone.

Knowing that Joe and Paul were still alive was both a relief and a daunting challenge for Skylar. Finding them wouldn’t be easy.

After more than three years, this was the first news they had received that they were still alive.

It was also the only information they had shared with the outside world.

Their current situation remained uncertain, and there were also some lingering doubts.

Still, those doubts didn’t matter right now. What mattered was finding them–doing whatever it took to track them down as quickly as possible.

Skylar nodded with determination. “Don’t worry, Steven. Three years ago, I might have been desperate, but now I won’t rush things.”

As they continued to have dinner, Skylar and Steven analyzed the photo frame by frame, enlarging it and inspecting every detail.

They lost track of time, working well past midnight without even realizing it.

Glancing at the time, Steven rubbed his temples. “It’s getting late. You should get some rest. Mr. Hughes will likely have updates soon, so I’ll head home for now.”

“Alright. If there’s anything you need help with for your wedding with Mona, just give me a call. I have plenty of free time in the coming weeks,” Skylar said cheerfully.

Steven’s eyes lit up with a smile at the mention of Mona. “She’s been busy choosing her wedding dress lately. You have a great sense of style, so it would be wonderful if you could with her to help pick it out.”

“Sure, I’ll ask her when she plans to go wedding dress shopping next,” Skylar replied enthusiastically.

After seeing Steven off, Skylar didn’t go to bed right away. Instead, she found herself lost in thought while staring at the photo.

Skylar lost track of time as she rested her head on the table and fell asleep.

In her hazy state, she thought she heard a notification sound from WhatsApp, and she immediately snapped awake.

Checking her phone, she noticed a WhatsApp notification. To her surprise, the message was from Ned.

It suddenly dawned on her that they had exchanged contacts when they ran into each other at the hospital.

She also remembered that she had promised Ned to send him the methods for massaging acupuncture points to help relieve headaches. However, with everything that had happened that day, she completely forgot about it.

Opening the chat, she saw Ned’s message asking, “Are you asleep?”

At this hour, she definitely should be. She had even set her phone to silent mode. Yet, Ned was still awake at that hour. It seemed that he was struggling with insomnia.

Skylar quickly grabbed a pen and began sketching some acupuncture points diagrams, carefully noting the massage sequence, duration of pressure to apply, and other important details.

After spending over 20 minutes finishing the diagrams, she took a photo under the light and sent it to Ned. Once she wrapped up everything, she felt so tired that she could barely keep her eyes open, and she fell asleep right away.

On the other end, Ned stared at the photo Skylar sent him, feeling somewhat lost in thought. His gaze lingered on the simple words “Good night” that followed the images.

Aside from those two words and the photo, Skylar’s demeanor had been cool and distant, which made him frown in confusion.
