Chapter 1231
Natalie mused that if Fiona believed she was superior, perhaps she could transform into a national treasure like a bald eagle. Only then might Natalie hold a bit more respect for her. novelbin
Just as she opened the door to enter her apartment, the building manager arrived with a couple of security guards.
“Ms. Jakeman.”
Natalie turned to the building manager and the security guards. “I don’t know this lady. Please escort her out.”
“Natalie,” Fiola exclaimed, staring at Natalie in disbelief. Today, she was genuinely shocked by Natalie’s boldness. It was as if Natalie didn’t even consider Fiona worth her attention.
These ordinary women really didn’t know how to handle situations properly.
“I don’t know how she found my personal information and came here, but your building’s security is questionable. How can you just let anyone in? I don’t want to see her here again.”
With that, Natalie opened the door and stepped inside her apartment, firmly shutting it behind her and leaving Fiona outside.
Once inside, Natalie poured herself a glass of water and settled onto the couch. Just as she took a şip, Austin called her.
“Fiona was indeed once my fiancée. Our families arranged the engagement, but we broke it off five years ago,” Austin explained.
Natalie was taken aback when she heard that their engagement had been called off a long time ago. But that didn’t really concern her.
“Mr. Powell, you don’t need to explain anything to me. You should talk to Ms. Ortega about this. I only called you to prevent her from bothering me in the future,” Natalie said.
There was no chance for her and Austin to develop anything further, and it was best to end any romantic feelings those younger women might have right away.
Austin fell silent. After a couple of minutes, he finally said, “Natalie, you sound nervous.”
“Nervous? What do I have to be nervous about?” Natalie bit her lip and retorted.
“You like me,” Austin said before ending the call, leaving Natalie no chance to refute his claim.
Natalie couldn’t shake his voice that kept echoing in her mind. “You like me,” Austin had said. Those three words were coupled with the memory of his passionate kiss at the café that day.
Suddenly, feelings she had buried deep inside began to resurface.
After returning to Galaxy
Skylar sent the photos to Steven. Upon seeing them, he replied
that he would come over after work.
She then got to work in the kitchen, preparing a few dishes.
Once the food was ready, Steven arrived with his laptop.
As they sat down together, he said, “I looked over the photos, and they were definitely taken recently. The person in them is Paul. The injuries and his shaved head aren’t makeup or edited images. Skye, it seems like both Paul and Joe have been in serious trouble for the past three years.”
Then, he opened his laptop and enlarged the photo on the screen.
“You can see some clues about where Paul is. From my analysis, it looks like he’s in some kind of cellar or basement. The light there isn’t sunlight, it’s artificial lightning,” Steven explained, pointing to the screen.
