Richest Mogul

Chapter 767

Joe didn’t insist further. He stood by with his hands in his pockets, his gaze fixed on

Skylar.

Once Skylar finished microwaving the dishes, she noticed Joe still lingering in the kitchen. “Please take the dishes out. Dinner’s ready,” she instructed.

“Sure,” Joe replied.

Joe wasn’t exactly the ideal husband type who excelled at housework, but he didn’t mind sharing the chores with Skylar. She cooked; he cleaned. Now that she had heated up the food, he was happy to help out by bringing it to the table.

Skylar gave him a small smile.

Joe’s picture–perfect husband image was short–lived. While he was in the shower, Skylar found a gossip article with the headline, “Secret Couple Unmasked: Their Identities Revealed!”

The article exposed Joe, the CEO of Martin Group, and Vera, the eldest daughter of the Ruell family, as the perfect couple. Photos showed Vera getting into Joe’s car, and sitting in the front passenger seat–an unmistakable sign of her special status.

“This couple is simply perfect together!”

The buzz surrounding them was even hotter than a celebrity relationship reveal.

Natalie, always quick to catch wind of gossip, messaged Skylar on WhatsApp.” What’s going on? Not only did Joe never announce your marriage, but now it looks like he’s cheating on you. This is too much! Skye, don’t be afraid.”

Having been betrayed herself, Natalie was worried Skylar might get hurt. What made it worse was how blatant Joe was being, openly flaunting his relationship with Vera as if to make it clear Skylar was easily replaceable.

Skylar could imagine how furious Natalie was. “These photos and news don’t mean much. At worst, Joe and I might end up divorced.”

Natalie felt relieved. “It’s good that you two don’t have strong feelings for each other.”

Skylar’s eyes shifted. “Yes, it’s fortunate that we don’t have any strong feelings. Let’s not talk about it now. He’ll be back from the shower soon,” she texted.

Skylar exited her WhatsApp.

Joe didn’t notice anything unusual about her. He was drying his hair with a small towel, still damp from the shower.

Since they weren’t at Galaxy Villa and had to share the bathroom with the family, Joe put on his pajamas directly in the restroom, which left him slightly uncomfortable from the lingering moisture.

“There’s a villa near our place that belongs to me. We can move Mom there,” Joe said, looking at Skylar.

When he noticed her distant expression and the change in her demeanor, his eyebrows raised slightly. She had seemed fine before he went to shower. He wondered why she was suddenly so serious.

Skylar declined his offer. Her tone was flat as she said, “Thank you, but I recently bought a house. My mom will be able to move in soon.”

Fortunately, the place she bought was spacious, with plenty of rooms. After the divorce, she could simply move there.

The photo showcased Vera in a breathtaking manner, making her appear dazzling and captivating. However, Joe wasn’t in the photo; it merely showed Vera getting into the car as the door was about to close.

Joe’s expression darkened. His tone grew colder. “Is something wrong?”

“Shouldn’t we schedule a time to visit the courthouse? There are a lot of divorces happening lately. We should set a date,” Skylar said, meeting his gaze directly. She wanted to take control of the situation and not just react to whatever came her way.
