Chapter 741
“Yeah,” Paul said, pressing play on the video he’d received.
Although the video lasted only a few seconds, Joe’s and Vera’s faces could be seen clearly. In addition, the photographer added a dreamy filter over the video. It made them look like a couple made in heaven.
Paul’s jaw dropped open upon seeing the video. He was terrified that Skylar would see it.
Joe Glenched his jaw. He thought of how Skylar had been lost in thought while staring at her phone. He looked at Vera’s face briefly before instructing, “Get him to delete the video and stop it from going viral.”
“Alright, I’ll do it now.”
When he got back to his office, Joe called Skylar. She didn’t pick up. frowned.
Joe
Skylar wasn’t ignoring his calls on purpose. She had gone to work.
During her short break, her colleagues had taken over some of her tasks. However, there were a few that Skylar needed to handle personally, and those had been left unattended.
Alexander was still worried about her injuries. He only allowed her a few hours by her table before chasing her out of the office.
After leaving Gardner Group, she saw Joe’s call.
As she was about to call him back, Rowan called her instead. He said he
needed her help and hoped she could visit him at his office.
His office wasn’t far from hers. After hanging up, she forgot to call Joe back.
Rowan had been waiting for her by the entrance for a while.
Upon seeing her, the words he’d been wanting to say disappeared
He came across the video last night. Perhaps Skylar had seen it, too, so he didn’t need to tell her about it.
“I feel like my dad has been acting off. I don’t go home frequently. A few days ago, I came to work because I had nothing better to do. I entered my dad’s office. It gave me a feeling I couldn’t describe. He’d heard about you from Mr. Gardner Senior and Mr. Querbach. He doesn’t believe in anyone else. He wouldn’t listen to me either. So, I hope you can come over and take a look.”

Skylar was a capable woman. It wasn’t just a superficial boast.
If George and Alexander praised her, who dared insist otherwise?
“Alright,” replied Skylar. She nodded solemnly.
She felt like the puppeteer behind the scenes had recently been pulling his strings at a higher frequency.
She followed Rowan to his father, Jeremiah Jakeman’s office.
They ran into a few employees there who were surprised to see her.
“She’s my friend. Don’t even think about it,” Rowan explained immediately.
Skylar couldn’t help but giggle. Rowan hadn’t left a good impression on her after their first meeting. However, she found that he clearly expressed his love and hatred for others. He was an interesting man.
They arrived at Jeremiah’s office. It looked very grand. The placement of every piece of furniture served a purpose. She could tell he had consulted a divination master while designing his office.
Rowan was somewhat nervous. He asked, “Is there anything wrong with it?”
As Skylar scanned the room, she asked, “I forgot to ask. Is there anything that has changed apart from the weird feeling his office gives you? For example, did anything out of the ordinary happen to Mr. Jakeman?”
“Something did happen. My dad talks in his sleep. He also gets a lot of nightmares. When he wakes up, he has no recollection of what happened. My mom told him about it, but he wasn’t bothered by it.
“However, my mom has been waken up by him frequently. She said that he’d only started having nightmares now. It had never happened in the years they’d been married. What he said wasn’t nonsensical mumbling either. It was as
though he was.conversing with someone. Other than this, there should be nothing else.”
Rowan didn’t keep secrets from Skylar.
