Chapter 73
Elise felt a deep, sharp pain in her temples. She tried to stretch her arms to touch them, but she felt that she was immobile and unable to move.
Her throat felt dry, and her eyes felt crusty and painful as she opened them. She tried to open them, but one eye was closed, shut, and swollen from the fight.
Her eyes opened up as she shot up from her lying position. The cold ground and dark cell room felt all too familiar; she felt like she couldn’t breathe. From the bad memories she has of being locked up and the poison roaming in her system made her shiver.
along, he
She recalls what she learned, and that Kaide was lying to her and betraying he fed her sweet lies she wanted to hear; he put her here, and Rygan must have agreed; he put her in this cell and locked her up. How could they do this to her?
The silver chains on her arms and ankles wear down her strength as she can barely even sit up, and worse, she feels a metal mask covering her mouth; she feels chained up like an animal, and her eyes well up with tears, but she stops herself when she notices she wasn’t alone.
She turns to the door of the cell to see someone standing there–it’s Rygan, his eyes filled. with unreadable rage as he holds on to the bars. He’d been waiting there for hours, watching her sleep with an agonizing feeling.
“What have you done, El? What happened?” He asks her, and her heart breaks, Elise knows she might never be believed when his best friend Kaide is involved. Would he believe that Kaide is the mastermind behind this? She’s been tricked.
Her mind and heart feel too heavy. She is tired of it all–tired of being used, tired of being the fool. She could barely move from being poisoned, something that was hidden under her clothes. They changed her too,
“Tell me exactly what happened, El; I need to know,” he pestered on, but Elise only closed her eyes, tears finally spilling from her eyes.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Maybe this is her destiny- -to die a disgraced female, never to be happy. A cursed wolf. Her mind felt too foggy from the poison to even send a message down the bond. Her wolf tried to push and thrash around to give her strength, but to no avail.
“From sleeping with Kyren to attacking Kaide and Alvira, I’m going crazy because of this, EL Please, I don’t want to see you in here; I need to know how to fight for you if you just let me,” he begs.
ut there is still iso mower from her. Elise’s eye closed slowly as she passed out. This time. Rogan had no more patience left to adhere to the rules of the pack’s trial or punishment as he paled himself from the cell breaking the doors of her dungeon.
“My, my king“” One of the quands exclaims in shock, but his shock is short–lived when he See a threatening hold on his neck.
“Open all her shackles now, he snarled. The male hurriedly brings out the keys, pushing them through the locks till she is free. Rygan moves to pick her up, places her body in his arts and takes her out
Apha, she attacked Beta Kaide and Alvira: she-
She will be kept in confined quarters, but not in the cells; I do not want to see any chain on her body, she is not an animal!” He snarls at the males who kneel in response to his alpha words. Forget all the rules he will bear every punishment for her.
There were more looks of shock when he came out of the cell with Elise in his arms. He took her to the confined quarters, a small part of the prison with a small room.
With only a small bed and a slim window in that room, it was made to confine wolves who disobeyed rules until their hearing. He made sure they warmed the room immediately before he placed her down.
He drops her on the bed. Taking note of her silent breaths, as he confirms the slow rise of her chest, he reaches to touch her, kissing her on her forehead and lips as a lone tear from his eye falls to her face.
He raises her hands to kiss firmly on her wrist and says, Tm so sorry, El,” but when he sees her marked flesh from Kyren’s bite, he pulls his hands away. He looks at her purplish lips with concern as he stands up. “Get a healer to come look at her now.”
This was against the rules to help a wolf who had attacked his pack and killed his offspring, or worse, call for help, but this is the mercy he offers her until he knows the full truth when she wakes up
“Lock the doors,” he orders with a deadly calm as he leaves the room. His eyes are filled with clear, deadly focus as he makes his way to the clinic in need of an explanation.
The story of Elise’s attack and deceit spreads like wildfire across the pack; hatred and declarations from the whole pack call to give her the death sentence for killing their beloved alpha and Alvira’s child.
Rygan barged into the Beddors compound, his gaze filled with anger as he went to their private clinic. He pushes through the large door. His gaze immediately goes to Kaide, whose arm is being bandaged up.
Alvira, who is on the other bed, is taken aback by Rygan’s sudden visit. He glances at the wounds across her face, watching as Alvira swallows in nervousness. The room goes silent as all the healers rush out.
A tense silence ensues between the three wolves. Rygan feels something is not right, but these were his childhood friends for moon’s sake, and Elise–gods, Elise wouldn’t just do that.
“Tell me what happened, and be careful what you say right now,” he says, turning to Kaide, but Alvira interrupts quickly.
“Do we mean that little to you? that you went to check on her first? After we were attacked by her!” Alvira fumes.
woman attacked us when we found out that she had been planning to escape Kyren so war would be called, and our pack was destroyed because of her,” she says.
“What?”
“We are telling the truth; she attacked Kaide when she was confronted, and she attacked me, killing our child Rygan. She can’t be forgiven, and my family won’t let this go; she will be punished,” she says darkly.
Rygan turned to Kaide to slander as he watched the betas sit up slowly, nursing his wounded hand as his chest and arms were slashed up with claws and teeth marks. From the corner of his eye, he sees Alvira gaze desperately and pleading, begging him to lie to save both their skins.
“..maybe we could ask her why she did this; it was so unexpected, Rygan; you should have seen it; it felt different, Elise; I still can’t believe it.” Rygan was more confused; he hardly believed what Alvira said, but with Kaide’s words, he felt torn about what to believe.
He could hardly accept what was happening, especially when he knew the punishment for her crimes and wanted this all to be a nightmare.
Taz was waiting by the door when he came out of the room; his face too was solemn with disbelief, but he knew what his alpha was going through was far more than he could imagine.
“All the elders have agreed to the death sentence A forlorn silence cuts between them as they go back to the moonhouse.
The harsh commotion by the door and someone shouting brought their attention; they saw guards trying to stop a female who was fighting to be let in. It is Vienna.
“I said, Let me see the king!” She shouts.
“Vienna?” Taz whispers, and his voice makes the healer pause as both servants greet them. both.
“Alpha Rygan, beta Tazmin,” she says, her eyes beaded with tears and her pale face lined with dried streaks from tears. “What you are hearing about Elise isn’t true, she didn’t and wouldn’t attack Alvira for no reason; she must have been provoked!”
“She attacked Kaide too, and it’s been confirmed that Alvira lost her baby,” Taz says. As she tries to stop Vienna from fighting, he knows how much she cares about Elise.
“What?” Vienna called in disbelief, “You both know Elise, she can’t do that; she is so kind, she can never do this!”
“There are so many things you don’t know, so many people she’s killed without controlling her wolf: she might have lost control, but she must face the punishment that might be the death penalty.” Taz says.
Her head turns so quickly to Alpha Rygan that she almost has a whiplash. “A death penalty? She trusted you; you cannot do this to her!” She screams as Rygan passes her by.
She continues to scream and beg for mercy till the doors of the moon house are shut down. And Rygan’s soul was crushed.
He needed to find a way for Elise to live. “Call the elders; Elise will not die under my watch.”
Elise later wakes up to that bitter taste in her mouth. She wonders if this was a dream: meeting Rygan too felt like a hallucination, and her body felt far too heavy to say anything to him. She wondered if the body was trying its best to heal her from the poison.
She tries to get up, and this time she doesn’t feel the heaviness from earlier; she finds that the chains are gone and she is in a different room with a small bed.
“You’re awake.” A familiar voice that fills her with so much dread echoes from the door. It’s Kaide, and another person’s scent is that of a female who she very much likes to kill.
“You bastard, why are you here?” Elise calls bitterly to Kaide, who takes a breath. He opens the small, barred box by the door so he can see her.
“This shouldn’t have come to this, Elise; you were supposed to find out it wasn’t my plan to take you back to Kyren. I admit my cousin made mistakes, but I didn’t want to hurt you,” he says.
It felt like everything she was saying was a lie, and she couldn’t believe anything Kaide said. Not now, and never again. “You will be dead by noon tomorrow if you don’t listen to me.”
Elise’s best skapa a beat as she turns to them. “Why would I be killer? I did nothing but defend myself” She argues
“Because you killed my baby,” Alvira’s voice echoes, and Elise laughs in bitter disbelief.
ou know there was no baby, you lied, this is what you wanted from the beginning. Alvira, to see me suffer? And see Rygan leave my side. You’ve won, but I won’t go down alone, I wi only die when the truth about you is revealed,” she says to the pair.
“Then forgive me for this,” Kaide says to her. Elise is confused as to what he means. A smal smoking ball is pushed into the room, and Kaide quickly closes the barred doors.
She quickly realiz
sit is a sleeping gas. She tries to fight the scent as she rushes to the door, banging to be let out, but Kaide and Alvira don’t listen. “I will make sure you both regret this! I will make sure you both get what’s coming to you. I swear it.” Her voice dulls as she falls to the ground.
Elise’s eyelids turn heavy, and her body stiffens. The last thing she sees is the door opened by Kaide while a third person enters, a masked man who takes her up in his arms.
“We need to leave now; I will take care of it,” Alvira tells Kaide. Not to be suspected, the plan is for Kaide to head back to the moon house and join the ongoing meeting.
“Make sure you follow the plan, so do not kill her,” he warns. Alvira ignores him as they leave the prison. Both are covered in hooded cloaks
“I will do what will save us Alvira mutters as she enters a carriage. Kaide is handling Elise inside. They trail out of the black moon pack territory.
Kaide had instructed that she be kept in the rogue territory, but Alvira had a darker plan: she headed past that territory to one where wolves are forbidden to trespass unless they are headed for death.
A place where she could quickly abandon Elise’s body unconscious as a part of her revenge to make her suffer longer before death comes for Elise.
A wicked smile plays on her lips as she heads deeper into the human hunt guild territory.
