Chapter 72

Regan’s POV

I was so damn lost.

I feel numb shell, have felt like my souls been barely there since Alvira informed me of her plans to have Elise banished. She begged, saying she’d let Elise be my concubine. The desperation in her eyes and her plea for our child not to be neglected broke me

I couldn’t help feeling the guilt since Alana, who was my first love, and her sister had died with our child in them before she was killed by the human hunt guild. And I wouldn’t want my child to be neglected. Alvira will be seen as a disgrace.

So the moment I walked into that hall, I fought all my will, and my wolf trashed me to look at Elise. Every part of my wolf yearned for her, yet I ignored him and fought to focus on my duty as I marched with Alvira by my side. And the moons knew how much I wanted to take her arms in mine as my mate.

But then Kyren had arrived, the monster who held me and Elise captive; all those memories of his torture rushed back anew, and now this demon was sitting comfortably in my pack’s hall.

Even the subtle touches that Alvira gave me and begged me to calm down instead of killing him did nothing for me as I faced him, wanting nothing more than to snap his neck.

The moment Elise leaves the table, I fill myself up with more bottles of strong alcohol. The

warm burn felt numbing as the drink down my throat gave me something to feel–that staggering pain in my heart.

Kaide has aired me; he stationed all our men to protect Elise and compounds. I nursed myself another drink till my eyes turned heavy. I had slept till the early morning, hungover and exhausted; only the loud bang and rapid rush of Alvira coming into my room had me on alert as I woke up from my nightmare of Kyren.

Her

“Rygan, the Delta male you put to survey eyes were wide with haste as she told me, Kyren while he was here just informed me that Kyren is nowhere to be found in his tent; he kept his men there as a distraction; he must be in the pack!” She explained.

I never felt so much anger as I stood up; a wave of panic made me think of a certain redhead that was Kyren’s target. “Elise, I need to check on her now,” I call, taking fast strides to her chambers.

I pushed the doors to Elise’s room open, praying to the moon that she had not been taken or anywhere near that monster, Kyren, while my men were out searching.

But the moment I entered the room and saw the scene in front of me, I never felt so much crushing loss; it felt like a dagger of ice pierced my heart as I stumbled upon the undeniable scene before me, a betrayal that set my body heated with rage. I witnessed Kyren with Elise wrapped in his arms.Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

She looked at me as her eyes widened in shock at being caught, her eyes pleading like she had an explanation, but I could barely think. Something in me snapped, and I attacked head- on, breaking into Kyren space and shifting to my wolf as we immediately battled..

I could only see red; ‘kill, kill, kill‘ was all I could hear from my wolf, telling me to kill the male that dared to touch my mate; she is mine! That rage caused me shift, giving Kyren no breathing space as we fought.

Taz joins in; he gives me a quick snarl to stop me and a warning to pull my mind away from my feral side, but that doesn’t stop us from circling till Kyren surrenders and shifts to his human form.

But what gave me the shock of my life when she showed the bite mark on his neck, and it’s Elise who bit him, and now they are bonded? This wasn’t happening. Elise can’t be bonded to this monster! But my doubts were clear when I saw a matching one on her wrist.

It feels like the ground under me quakes beneath my feet. My mind is to the point of distraction after Kyren’s ultimatum to wage war if we don’t release his bride.

During the meeting with the elders, I could barely think straight. They all argued that Elise should be given to Kyren. I roared in a fateful voice at them. I wasn’t going to let her go; I needed to know why.

But the moment I see her in my study, all thoughts of calm leave me. I only feel anger and hurt; I want her to feel it too, but I go too far. I see the guttural betrayal in her gaze.

That’s when her realization of my stupidity settled in, and I did nothing when she hit me; I deserved it. She wants nothing to do with me, and I feel myself growing crazier by the second.

Instead, I wallowed in despair over her. I knew she needed space, but that didn’t stop me from being at her door each day, begging for her to come out and talk to me so I could apologize, but she didn’t get the treatment I deserved for my stupid mistakes.

I end up drinking myself to sleep each night. I knew she was in safe hands with Vienna, so I decided to give her time, and I would be sure to beg for forgiveness.

But all the more. I needed to find a way to break Elise away from Kyren; I couldn’t give her up to him, and I wouldn’t let her go with that monster!

Almost six days go by, and four days till Kyren will storm in with Silvernight and his Darknight troops, I know Elise enough to know that she would do anything rather than let my pack get hurt.

The only thought in my head was to have her with me. A dark proposition strolls into my thoughts as I decide if I should elope with her. I didn’t care if I’d become a rogue. No rules from my people; only a life with her.

The door to my chambers is met with a loud knock: my hungover skull banged painfully from the loud thud, and I see a delta who rushed in panicked.

“What is wrong?” I ask him, his gaze filled with tension as he bows to me. His breath was harsh and filled with worrisome apprehension. “Speak!” I roared.

“There was an attack just now: Beta Kaide and Alvira were victims of the attack; the injuries are bad, and the battle was brutal,” he said to me

“Who dares attack my pack?” I rage as I stand, my wolf alert and ready to kill, but not until I feel the young Delta’s hesitation as he bows to me.

“The person who attacked them was E–Elise Alderman of the Silver Night Alpha; words came that she turned to rabid madness and attacked your beta head lady, Alvira.”

I didn’t let him finish; my hands pushed him against the wall, and he groaned from my hold on his neck. I couldn’t believe the report he was giving. Who sent this bastard to lie to me?

“Who sent you to spill such lies? Tell me now.” I rage at the male; his eyes widen with terror as he shakes his head.

“I’m being truthful, Alpha!” He choked, and I released him, shocked at how rapidly my wolf attacked from Elise’s name being tainted by lies.

“I am not lying, Alpha; right at this moment, both Beta Kaide and Alvira are being treated, but Lady Alvira has it worse, my Lord,” the young delta messenger continues.

“She has lost the baby from the attack,” a crime that I killed half of the human guild for after I found out what had been done to Alana, who was carrying my child. A punishment that is faced with death.

Instead of heading for the clinic. I’d rushed down to the caged dungeons my wolf and body still in disbelief of the situation. I needed to see Elise for myself!

I rushed to the dark dungeons where I was informed she was kept, my eyes filled with so much rage and sorrow as I saw Elise held with silver chains and a silver mask against her mouth.

“You dare treat her this way? Open it up!” He called to the guards who were kneeling. My heart broke at the sight of Elise.

“I’m sorry, Alpha? But it was an order to keep her away, he called calmly.

“And who ordered this?”

“I did alpha.” Elder Adeline’s voice echoes as she comes into the cell. “That woman tried to kill my family; it is our rule for her to be treated like a killer!” Adeline muttered.

“I need to hear from her side.”

“My daughter and your betrothed almost died in her hands; your child died in this woman’s hands, and you want to spare her? Did you show the humans mercy for what they did to my Alana and your baby? No! So there will be no mercy,” she called with finality.

I knew she was right, but not Elise. “I need to hear Elise’s side of the story,” I say firmly. could see Elder Adeline was barely holding on to the last straw before the respect she had for me.

With a bow, she leaves for the door. “There will be no mercy if she is found guilty. My King, I swear it,” she calls as the door closes. As I faced back to Elise’s cell.

Only a dreadful question raced through my mind as I watched her unconscious body in the cell.

Why? Why did she do it?
