Chapter 180 Take Action

If the mastermind truly hid behind Jacob, his secretary would be the biggest problem.

Avery hoped to see some clues on their faces, but both of them had cold and decisive personalities.

They simply greeted her briefly and immersed themselves in their work.

Avery touched her wrist. Could it be that she was wrong? Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

She wasn't in a hurry either. Starting with Juniper, Jacob's secretary, Avery moved closer to her.

Juniper's attitude towards her was neither warm nor dismissive. Avery spent nearly two hours

interacting with everyone but didn't notice anything suspicious.

They worked until 9 PM, and John finally gave permission for everyone to leave.

As soon as Calliope finished work, her stiff face instantly broke into a smile. She rubbed her waist and

made a phone call to a friend. It seemed like she was going to a bar and asked someone to reserve a

table for her.

As Avery observed Calliope looking at her, Calliope raised her chin lightly and said, "Join us? There's a

newly opened bar with lots of handsome guys. Let me treat you."

Avery didn't expect Calliope to be so friendly and quickly waved her hand. "No need; I still have some

documents to organize. I haven't even memorized Mr. Hill's preferences yet."

Calliope withdrew her gaze from Avery's face and replied, "Alright then, another time."

In the blink of an eye, Calliope swiftly left, leaving the room in a hurry. Asher sighed and explained to

Avery, "Stay away from her. Every day, she's either flirting with young, handsome guys or older men.

Don't let her influence you."

Avery smiled awkwardly and shifted her gaze to Juniper's face.

Juniper's face wasn't remarkable, a complete contrast to Calliope's enchanting appearance.

She was like the diligent student in class who wore glasses and had average looks but always ranked

in the top ten academically.

Juniper calmly packed up her things in an orderly manner. Her desk was neatly arranged, almost as if

she had OCD. Each document had to be perfectly organized.

Sensing Avery's gaze, Juniper looked up. Behind her glasses, their eyes met. She spoke in a flat tone,

devoid of any emotion.

"Is there anything else?"

It was like talking to an emotionless robot.

Although there were no fluctuations, Avery felt chills down her spine.

Avery maintained an innocent smile on her face and said, "Juniper, I just think your earrings are really

beautiful, so I took a few more glances. Where did you buy them?"

Earrings were the only accessory that Juniper wore. They were small, shaped like a rose with a

diamond in the center, emitting a dazzling light.

"These were customized as a year-end bonus from Mr. Hill two years ago," Juniper replied calmly.

"Oh, I see. Then I'll work hard and hope to receive a year-end bonus this year, too," Avery said, raising

her clenched fist.

Juniper glanced at her, picked up her bag, and left the room. Asher commented, "Don't overthink it.

She's always been cold."

Avery gently asked, "So, Juniper has always had this kind of temperament?"

"Yes, she hasn't smiled much since she joined. Although she appears cold, she is efficient in her work."

After chatting for a while, Avery was the last to leave the office.

She didn't go far and waited in the underground parking lot.

Jacob rolled down the car window and spoke coldly, "Get in."

Avery accompanied him back to the Hill Mansion, an experience they hadn't had in the many years

they knew each other.

On the way, Avery's mind was filled with various thoughts. The secretaries in the office had different

personalities, and it seemed like everyone had some problem.

"Do you regret it?" Jacob had been tapping on his laptop since getting into the car. He pushed up his

silver-rimmed glasses on his nose.

He nudged the frame and said, "Now you have a chance to regret it."
