Omega Princess

Chapter 12

"What? You come back just to say Mate!" I exclaimed.

"Sorry I still have not recovered. You used a lot of magic to kill all those rogues." She sounded tired.

"I only came back as I can sense our mate."

"Dane cannot be here, and he rejected us." I said cautiously, as I knew that the rejection was harder on Sasha.

"It is our second chance mate." Sasha said, gaining more energy. From NôvelDrama.Org.

"Already," I groaned. "I'm not sure I want one. I mean what if we get rejected again?"

"We won't. You must trust the goddess."

"I don't know if I can do this after what happened the first time. I can't lose you either. We must find a way. Our mate must work here. Maybe a doctor or nurse?"

"Maybe. The smell was strong enough to pull me forward, but I am fading again. It may be another day or two till I am fully recovered." Before I could respond, there was a knock at the door. It woke Katie and she ran to get it before I could say come in.

Eric was walking through the door with Reagan. "You gave us quite a scare when you didn't come back to the house last night." Eric said, looking at Katie. I smelled the air, maybe hoping Eric was our second chance mate. He was nice and handsome. I heard a faint growl from Sasha in my head.

Katie ran over to him, gave him a hug and said, "I am sorry I didn't mean to worry anyone, I just missed her."

"We understand," Reagan said, giving Katie a hug. "Just let us know where you are going next time. Did anyone tell you are very sneaky? No one heard you leave. You will be a great warrior one day."

Katie's eyes lit up. "Really that would be so wonderful! Just like my parents."

Eric looked at me and smiled. He thought she was talking about me. I think we should keep this charade up as it will be hard to explain. I also do not want anyone to try to take her away as an orphan. Orphans from Dark moon are kept in the main house to train as omegas. I don't want this fate for Katie.

"Katie, can you go with Reagan today? She is going to take you and show you the school. You will be able to play with other kids." Eric said to Katie.

"Yes please!" Katie responded. "Can I go get changed though. I wore this yesterday." She looked down at her clothes.

I giggled a bit when Dr. Rosenbaum walked through the door. With a shocked expression he said, " OK, it looks like you are better but there are way too many people here. I need to complete an examination before I can release Miss Carnell." "These two were about to leave, if it is OK with Fillian I would like to stay." Eric said while looking at me for permission. "I brought your clothes and other items from Harold's place."

"You did?" I asked, shocked. He smiled at me. Reagan shuffled Katie out the door with a promise we would meet up later today. I gave permission for Eric to stay for my examination. He set the bag down on the recliner Katie had slept on and came over to my side. I smiled up at him and told the doctor to begin.

"OK so I need to ask you some questions that are private are you sure it is OK for Eric to be here?" Dr. Rosenbaum questioned.

I glanced at him. "It is OK. I trust him...I think." He smiled, beaming.

"According to the stories being told, you conjured up some large amount of magic to... am... subdue the rogue forces." Dr. Rosenbaum said, looking nervous. "After that you passed out. Your wolf was not noticeable by anyone here...well, until this morning, but it seems she has disappeared again."

"Yes, according to the moon goddess..." I started but Eric cut me off.

"You spoke with the moon goddess?" he said with his mouth open.

"I said you could stay. You interrupt me too much. I will tire and not be able to meet your alpha." I said with a smile.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"As I was saying," I squeezed Eric's hand to let him know I was not mad. "I have a wolf and powers. The moon goddess said I may not be able to keep both. When I use too much magic, my wolf becomes tired and retreats. I have only had her for two years." "I thought you were 20?" Dr. Rosenbaum stated, "It says that on your ID."

"Yes, that is a lie. I am 18. Actually, the day I ran here was my 18th birthday." I said, looking at him. His eyes went wide. I knew he had done the math and knew Katie wasn't mine, but I shook my head slightly at him. Luckily, he got the hint and didn't say anything. "This is a strange situation, but I would like to run some test on both your wolf when she is back and when you do magic. That is if you plan to stay, and the Alpha agrees." Dr. Rosenbaum removed the wires and the IV. "You are free to go speak with him now." With that, the Dr. left the room. I got up and took my clothes to the bathroom to shower and change. Luckily, Eric had brought a brush so I could comb through my hair and look a bit presentable. After the shower, as I brushed my hair, I heard Eric clear his voice. I opened the door to him as I finished brushing out my long hair.

"Can you explain what you meant by spoke to the moon goddess?" Eric asked.

"Oh that." I looked down at the brush and took a long breath. "It was weird. At first I thought I had died. She took the form of my mother before changing to her real self. Sasha was there too. She is one of her direct daughters. She told me I had many paths to take and basically my choices would decide many fates."

"Your wolf's name is beautiful," Eric said.

"Thank you." I smiled. "Is there any way we can grab breakfast before we go meet the Alpha? I am starving."

"Of course. You will need your energy because Alpha Vincent has been in a bad mood since we got back. I can't figure if it was the loss of Beth or what had gotten into him." Eric looked like a toddler getting caught swearing. "I mean it would be fine. You did save all of us. He will be in a better mood after meeting you."

"Thanks for your attempt at calming my frayed nerves." I said. "Now where do we eat?"

He led me out of the hospital and to a car. The drive was only two miles to the pack house but, given I just woke up, I understand why the car. Once we got there, I stepped into a beautiful hall and off to the left was a large dining room with food lining the walls and pack members eating together, talking and laughing. Eric led me through the line and we sat down. Everyone greeted me nicely but with reservations. I just smiled in turn with understanding. How were they to accept me when I didn't even know myself? "So... you done with this?" Eric said as he grabbed a sausage off my plate. I grabbed his arm giggling in a sad attempt to retrieve it. Suddenly, I heard a growl behind me. Eric went stiff, and I was flung over the shoulder of Alpha Vincent. As he rushed me up to his office, the smell of the forest and cherries filled the air. My middle warmed to him, and Sasha returned with "Mate."
