Kade has been very scarce lately. He leaves the house very early and comes back very late, there are days he doesn’t even come back at all. He only called me to warn me against calling the kids, saying that someone is monitoring my calls and they can find out where the kids are through that – ugh! 

I missed them so much, especially Derrick. It wouldn’t be so bad if I just call and hear their voice right? I left the painting I was making of the children and was about going inside when Valora started shouting from outside the gate frantically.

“Kade has been arrested!”she yelled and I stared at her in shock. Kade said I couldn’t trust her and her sister and that it was because of them that Kade was able to tell my every movement and know exactly how to get me. So I stood there wondering whether or not u should trust her. 

I saw kade’s car drive in front of the gate and the gate opened up so the car drove in speedily. Pedro came down from the car and said to me, “come with me now, pack all the things you’re sure you’ll need because we have to run before Emelia comes.” 

“Emelia?!” 

“Yes! She’s the one behind it all. Look, forget about the clothes, Klyde gave me his credit card let’s go before they freeze it and we’re left stranded.” 

“Okay, I’ll go but I need some things ” 

“We barely have a few minutes before Emelia’s meh comes here. We should go now!”Cody, Pedro’s second in command said.

This felt like dejavu. Just like how there was no time for me to get my things when I was mobbed back in the US, I sighed and got in the car. Pedro zoomed off, driving faster than anything I’d ever seen. 

“Why are we running Pedro?” 

“Apparently, Kade has been searching for his brother after what happens and it turns out that he wasn’t satisfied with my brother’s tracking skills. He made deals with a very notorious sect of Mafias who found Klyde in an instant and he set of to kill Klyde without proper planning.”He said and then gritted his teeth.

“I warned him to act strategically but he said I would never know what it’s like to always want a woman only to lose her to someone you hate so much not once but too many times to count.” 

“Long story short, he attacked Klyde and wounded him very badly but he was already expecting kade’s attack because the police arrested Kade before he could finish of Klyde.” 

When he finished talking, tears fell down my cheeks. Kade wanted to avenge me but now he’s behind bars? I wept, hating myself for causing so much trouble wherever I go.

“this isn’t time to cry Viola, it’s time to be strong because this is all Emelia’s doing. She’s gotten rid of her two sons and now she’ll do whatever she can to get every other person out of the way so that she can get the company for herself.” 

“she wants the company?”I asked, angry that a mother could be so greedy a selfish that she’d plot enmity between her sons for so many years just so she could use it against them today. 

“She wants the money that she will get when she sells everything the Harolds own and then she’ll run off with her lover.” 

I sat there thinking about what this could mean, my heart slammed against my chest as I thought of my children.

“What about my children?” 

“they’ll be safe in Vercixe. I’ll Elizabeth though, warn her about the children’s safety.”He said and I sighed. 

He dialed her number instantly connecting to the car’s Bluetooth so I could also hear her. 

“Hello Pedro!”Elizabeth answered enthusiastically.

“Hello Elizabeth, listen to me there’s no time. Kade has been arrested, he tried to kill his brother after…” 

My mind trailed off as I thought about my children in Vercixe, what were they doing? Would they be happier there with Elizabeth? Maybe I should leave them there with Elizabeth. 

“… so make sure you don’t let the children out of your sight. In fact, where are you?”I heard Pedro asking. 

“I’m at a friend’s place, the children as well as mine are playing outside. If it’ll make Viola feel any better I’ll call them so she can hear voice.” 

“yes please, Elizabeth I’d really appreciate that.” 

“Elizabeth, where are they?”Pedro asked when we heard nothing for a while.

“T-they’re gone.”

“What?!”he asked at the same time as me. 

“my children said someone took them, saying their father was waiting for them outside, I –”

“– how could you be so careless!”I yelled. 

“– I’m sorry, I’ll find them. I promise,” 

“oh damn it!”I shrieked, running my hands through my hair.

“Elizabeth, send someone to find those children. Make it a city affair! They’re your family too so stop at nothing until your husband’s men find these kids! I beg you.”He said while I cursed at Elizabeth in my mind. 

“okay… I love you Pedro.”She said and then hung up.

I stared at Pedro, completely dumbfounded by what I just heard.

‘ you’re sleeping with her?” 

“I was her fiance before… she was taken away from me. We never stopped being in love with each other.” 

Could my day get any more frustrating?

“Well, you and your lover girl better find my children or else!”

“else what? Do you think she’d let that happen on purpose? This isn’t Elizabeth’s fault. It’s our fault that we didn’t plan for this because it’s obvious Emelia is ten steps ahead of us and she always have been. I bet everything that has happened since you came has been her plan all along. Instead of trying to command me like I’m your servant you should get your emotions in place and let’s think of how we can fix all this.” 

He was right. We are in this mess because Kade rushed into a situation where he saw the need to avenge me but this time, we need to avoid making the same mistake.
