Skylar said, “I haven’t eaten either. I’ll go make dinner.”

Joe watched as she efficiently pulled ingredients from the fridge and started cooking in the kitchen.

Before he realized it, he was captivated by her movements and unable to look away. Skylar quickly prepared two dishes.

Instead of pasta, she made two servings of beef and lentil soup. They ate in silence, both lost in their thoughts.

After finishing their meal, Joe cleaned up the dishes before turning to Skylar for a conversation. She looked at him, unsure of what to say.

After a few minutes of silence, Joe finally spoke, “I’ve been really busy at work these past few days. Let’s go to the courthouse next Monday to finalize the divorce.”

Skylar was momentarily speechless. Her expression shifted slightly.

Joe fixed his gaze on her, waiting for her response–a flicker of hope stirred within him when she didn’t answer immediately.

However, that hope vanished completely when Skylar finally replied, “Okay.”

Later that night, Joe chose not to stay at Galaxy Villa.

As he left, he told her, “I won’t be back for a few days. You can stay here peacefully. After the divorce, the Galaxy Villa will be yours. You won’t need to move.”

Before Skylar could respond, he had already departed. Alone in the now–quiet Galaxy Villa, she felt a moment of disorientation before picking up her phone to call Janine.

Moments later, she left the villa.

The next day, Steven and Charles returned home. Both had been busy with work lately. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

They wholeheartedly supported her decision when they heard that Skylar planned to take a break. “Mom mentioned that your online store is doing great. Your income has increased significantly, and you’re even doing live streams. You don’t need to worry about a nine–to–five job anymore. Even if your store didn’t earn much, Charles and I could support you,” Steven said, looking at Skylar.

No matter what decisions Skylar made, he always supported her. However, he sensed something must have happened. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have quit her job so suddenly.

Charles also seemed to pick up on the tension, and he and Steven shared a knowing look. They didn’t want to push Skylar. Instead, they agreed to wait for the right moment to bring it up.

Janine cheerfully headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. “You three should catch up. Don’t worry about the kitchen. I’ll handle dinner myself tonight.”

Once Janine was in the kitchen, Charles couldn’t bold back and asked, “Did someone at work bully you? Or did you argue with Joe?”

They had seen some news about Joe and Vera.

“There are reasons for my resignation, but it’s not about being bullied by colleagues. Lately, there have been too many negative items in Jipsburg. After helping some people with those issues, I

think

someone’s got their eyes on me.

“After discussing it with Mr. Gardner Senior, we decided to publicly state that I resigned while I secretly investigate who is after me,” Skylar explained, opting to share the truth with them.

Charles furrowed his brow as he spoke, “Someone’s after you? Does that mean you’re in danger?”

Steven immediately chimed in, “What did Joe say?”

“I don’t think I’m in real danger. When I say someone’s after me, it means this person is keeping an eye on me. Maybe they’ll keep placing these negative items around people in subtle ways, making it hard to notice, so they can keep causing harm to others.

“As for this situation… I haven’t told Joe yet. We’re about to get divorced, and sharing this with him would only add to his stress,” Skylar replied calmly.

Steven and Charles‘ expressions changed as they noticed how indifferent she sounded when she brought up the divorce.

“The reason I’m telling you two is that I can face this. Lately, there have been too many strange occurrences in Jipsburg. Getting divorced is better for both of us. You two don’t need to worry about me.” Skylar looked at their anxious faces, continuing to explain. 1

If she didn’t say anything, they would only worry more. It was too difficult to keep secrets in front of them. By being open, she knew they would still be concerned, but at least they wouldn’t jump to

conclusions.
