Chapter 793
No one could hold a candle to Paul.
After a few seconds, Skylar replied, "If he's got a cold, he should get that checked at the hospital." She sounded extremely calm.
Paul had no idea what was going on. He said, "Uh... Mrs. Martin, would you like to come over and take a look? Mr. Martin doesn't like seeing a doctor whenever he's sick. He doesn't like eating medicine, nor does he listen to me. After all, he pays me, and I need to abide by his rules. You're more effective than me in this aspect."Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"He doesn't listen to what I tell him either. You can ask Ms. Ruell to help. I'm still busy. I can't speak now, so I'll be hanging up," replied Skylar.
The beeping noises after Skylar hung up floored Paul.
Her attitude... This was a ginormous issue!
They hadn't cut ties completely, had they? Skylar had even mentioned Vera. It couldn't be... Did they have a falling out because of Vera?
Was Skylar less important to Joe than Vera?
This...
After calling Paul, he was even more confused.
If Joe cared for Vera, he should've been happy that he and Skylar had fallen out. At least he could have explained his behavior to Vera.
However, Joe didn't look happy at all.
Things were difficult now. The most glaring issue was that Paul couldn't get a read on Joe.
Skylar's mind wandered after ending the call with Paul.
Caleb had found someone to book the plane tickets.
When Skylar came back, she looked a little pale. He immediately asked, "Skylar, what are you thinking about? Are you feeling under the weather?"
She seemed alright while he walked out. Why had Skylar's expression changed so drastically after he walked out? It had only been ten minutes.
Skylar came to her senses. She put her phone aside and replied, "Nothing much, I must've lost some sleep last night. Have you booked the tickets?"
"I have. We'll be flying in the afternoon. We'll arrive tonight. Mr. Yates Senior will send people to the airport and pick us up from there," said Caleb.
Skylar said, "Alright."
"Are you sure you're alright?" Caleb felt like Skylar had been acting off for the past few days. Skylar shook her head with a smile and answered, "I'm fine."
She'd taken Janine to get examined at the hospital. She was recovering nicely. Steven had taken himself a short break. He would take care of her at home, and she would be able to work.
As to what was going on between her and Joe...
They probably wouldn't remain in this stalemate for long. She believed Joe was waiting for a suitable time to start the process of their divorce. Skylar just needed to wait.
When Paul got home, his mom tried to convince him to agree to go on a blind date.
After deflecting her perfunctorily, Paul hid in his room, where he received a call from the detective.
"You asked me to look into Jenny a while ago. I've dug up a bit of dirt on her."
Paul had forgotten this entirely. He'd run into Jenny a few times in the past week. Nothing seemed off except for her desperate desire to speak to Joe.
Paul asked dismissively, "What did you find?"
"She's been going to hotels at night. However, she doesn't go to the same one. Due to the guards stationed outside the hotel and client privacy, I wasn't able to tail her there."
"Hotels? She's got a perfectly fine place to live in Jipsburg. Why would she go to a hotel for no reason?"
The detective chuckled and said, "What else would she do in a hotel? Young people have been living it up in hotels as of late. I've got a few clients who hired me to do some digging on their partners. What I found out blew their minds.
'Some got involved in gangbangs with their bosses and clients for a promotion. Others found out about how their girlfriends were sleeping with their fathers. It's a big world with a bunch of kinky shit. Would you still like me to delve deeper? If I proceed, I'll find out who she's seeing at the hotel in no time."
