Chapter 792
Jenny's features were scrunched up into a frown. After Skylar pointed her out, she was utterly humiliated.
She insisted stubbornly, "I'm not lying. The pictures might've been taken by accident. I wasn't paying much attention to my phone."
Although she tried to explain it away, she was full-on panicking. How much did Skylar know?
Skylar couldn't be bothered to waste her time with Jenny as she knew she wouldn't tell the truth. However, she was acting a little too secretive. It must've been out of diffidence.
If Jenny could've been a little smarter, she wouldn't keep fucking with Skylar. She wouldn't give a damn about her thoughts if that were the case.
Once she divorced Joe, Vera would be the annoyed one. It would have nothing to do with her. When she thought of a divorce, her gaze darkened. Her heart sank.
Jenny watched Skylar strut out of the washroom. She gritted her teeth in anger. Why was Skylar able to stampede all over her?
A few days later, Paul stood before Joe's office, his heart hammering in his throat. A few of his colleagues pumped their fists at him as a sign of encouragement.
Everyone in the building had watched Joe's temper grow over the past few days, and everyone pitied Paul for having to work with Joe.
Paul wanted to complain, but he didn't know where to start. He only discovered that Joe and Skylar had been arguing the past few days. Joe hadn't been staying at Galaxy Villa. When Paul asked Lucas about it, he told Paul that this had been going on for at least a week.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Paul connected the dots. Joe had turned into a workaholic over the weekend. He'd also sanctioned multiple departmental leads in a week. His argument with Skylar must've been catastrophic.
He gathered his courage and walked into Joe's office.
Joe was looking through some files. He didn't look up to acknowledge Paul's presence.
Paul handed him a document and said, "Mr. Martin, you have a video conference in 30 minutes."
Joe looked up and glanced at Paul.
Paul felt like Joe hadn't been speaking much for the past week. If he needed to do so for work, he did so in short and crisp sentences.
"Anything else?" asked Joe.
Paul's heart skipped a beat. He said, "Um, no."
He immediately tried to escape from Joe's office. Joe's moods had been extremely volatile. "Wait."
Paul halted in his tracks. He asked, "Mr. Martin, what else do you need from me?"
"Has Skylar sought you out?" Joe asked with darkened eyes.
Paul shook his head and replied, "Nope."
Joe's expression turned even icier. Paul couldn't help but tremble.
After getting out of Joe's office, Paul felt as though he'd narrowly escaped death. He ran into the stairwell and gave in to the impulse to call Skylar. Thankfully, she picked up.
"Mrs. Martin, I think Mr. Martin has gotten a cold. He's not feeling well," lied Paul.
He swore he heard Joe cough in the elevator at the start of the day. Although it was just one hack, it did have something to do with a cold. It wasn't exactly a lie.
Paul was a responsible and intelligent secretary. Not only was he excellent at his job, but he was also a great help facilitating Joe's happiness. Which secretary in Jipsburg could hold a candle to his prowess?
