Chapter 1437
Aiken was usually very busy. Whenever Simona asked if he would be home for dinner, he would answer that he couldn't eight out of ten times. But today, things seemed different.
"I'm already at home now."
Simona's eyes reddened when she heard her brother's voice.
Skylar was right. In this world, anyone could abandon her or approach her with ulterior motives, but her brother never would. Her brother was the person who treated her the best in the world.
In the evening, Skylar and Aiken discussed Simona's situation over video call.
Aiken told her that Simona acted as though nothing had happened, remaining silent when they had dinner together.
Skylar replied, "She probably doesn't want you to worry."
"She's definitely different from when she was younger. Now, she can process and face things on her own. But as for Stephen, I won't let him off the hook. He'll pay the price for deceiving my sister," Aiken said.
Skylar chuckled. That was Aiken's true nature.
It was also Stephen's bad luck.
All the women he had deceived before had let him go. That gave him the courage to continue his games. So, it was only a matter of time before his luck ran out.
"Are you on a call?"novelbin
Joe had just returned and walked straight into the room. He had raised his voice slightly on purpose as he had heard Aiken's voice from outside.
Aiken, who was chatting casually with Skylar, was clearly relaxed. As a man himself, Joe understood the soft tone Aiken used when talking to Skylar. Was he harboring thoughts about his wife?
Skylar looked over and greeted him, "You're back."
Seeing her gaze filled with affection, Joe felt a little more at ease. But his impression of Aiken was still unfavorable.
"Just got home," he said.
On the other end of the call, Aiken heard their conversation. Although he couldn't see Joe, he sensibly said, "I've got some other things to handle. We'll stop here and chat another time."
Chat another time? Joe's brows furrowed.
Once things settled down, perhaps he should find an opportunity to meet Aiken face-to-face.
"Alright, goodbye." Skylar hung up and set her phone aside.
Then, she turned back to Joe and said, "You came back just in time. I'd like to talk to you about something."
"What is it?" Joe's face showed signs of fatigue, but he hid it well in front of Skylar.
Taking his hand, she guided him to sit down. "Let me give you a massage first."
Although Joe couldn't recall much of the past, he trusted whatever Skylar said.
As she gently massaged his

temples, she began, "I've almost fully recovered. If you can return early tomorrow, let's visit Grandma at Pearlhall Residence. Her health- wasn@great when she was in е Murida. I've been feeling a little uneasy these past few days. I'm worried about her condition."
Besides, even if Gloria was unwell, she probably wouldn't tell them. Furthermore, Skylar just had an abortion and was still in recovery. Joe was also having a tough time at Martin Group.
So, Gloria would have kept things from them.
And it was precisely for these reasons that Skylar felt that they shouldn't neglect Gloria. She didn't want Joe to look back on this period of their life with any regrets.
Joe closed his eyes, relaxing his tense and slightly aching head under Skylar's soothing touch. He had begun to feel drowsy.
"We'll go to Pearlhall Residence tomorrow evening. You can head there first, and I'll join you after I'm done with work. Let's stay there for a few days." "Okay!" Skylar agreed.
Suddenly, Joe grasped her hand. "Do you used to massage me like this?"
"A few times. But, later your headaches almost completely went away, so I stopped," Skylar recalled, smiling faintly at the memory.
Thinking back to the early days, when Joe was so defensive and distrustful of her, she found it rather amusing.
