Rosa couldn't shake the feeling that Simona was the source of Stephen's uneasiness. The more she thought about it, the more discomfort she felt. Once they finished strolling through the park, Stephen seemed to regain his composure and suggested, "It's getting late, and I can't go back to school now. Let's find a hotel nearby."
This was exactly what Rosa wanted to hear. "Sure, let's go."
Meanwhile, Simona hadn't slept much that night. Her mind was racing with thoughts, particularly about Stephen's recent odd behavior. Initially, she hadn't thought much of it and dismissed his secrecy, believing it wouldn't affect their relationship.
However, a voice in her mind kept insisting that her recent suspicions and distrust toward Stephen were all due to not spending enough time together, leading her to overthink things.
Since she couldn't sleep, she remembered Skylar and her classmates recommending a dating variety show that had recently become popular.
Maybe she could distract herself by watching those episodes. She hoped that all her uncertainties would finally be cleared by the time she met Stephen tomorrow.
Two hours later, she had managed to binge-watch several episodes in fast-forward mode. One couple's situation seemed eerily similar to hers and Stephen's. The girl's anxiousness over their relationship mirrored her feelings.
As she analyzed the men's behavior in the show, a realization hit her-maybe she had overlooked something important-Stephen might have other girlfriends.
She desperately wanted to talk to Skylar, feeling increasingly unsettled. But it was now 4:00 am, and all she could do was wait. Eventually, exhaustion overtook her, and she drifted off to sleep.
After about four hours, she decided to text Skylar on WhatsApp. "Skylar, are you busy right now?"
"No, I'm not busy. What's up?" Skylar was looking at her phone, so the reply came in almost immediately.
Simona typed back, "Skylar, I don't
even know how to explain it. I watched that dating variety show you recommended yesterday. There's a couple on it whose relationship seems a lot like mine and Stephen's-especially the who's juggling two girls, just like Stephen. novelbin
"Stephen has been making all sorts of excuses to avoid seeing me lately. But whenever we talk on the phone, he's so affectionate. The more time I spend with him, the more I feel like I can't see through him. It's as if there's a veil between us."
Skylar felt a pang of sympathy for Simona after reading her long message. She wanted nothing more than for Simona to find someone who would truly cherish her.
Every girl hoped for a beautiful first love, and if it led to a great ending, that was even better. But it was clear that Stephen might not be the one to walk that path with Simona.
After some thought, Skylar replied, "Sometimes the best way to dispel doubts is to seek confirmation. Speculation only leads to internal conflict."
Simona read Skylar's message aloud, softly repeating two words-seek confirmation.
Seek confirmation...
She realized she had been sinking into self-inflicted turmoil, all without answers. It struck her that she hadn't considered seeking evidence to clarify her overthinking. Instead of remaining trapped in doubt, she
needed to uncover the truth.
If the evidence showed she was not overthinking, that would be the best outcome. If it revealed she had been mistaken, then she would resolve never to doubt Stephen again.
With that thought, she immediately got out of bed, determined to find Stephen.
