Chapter 24 Honesty and more
Tyler
We just got back from having dinner with my parents, where I was also checking up on dad knowing that mom might push him over the edge with the constant care while he’s still being in an arm cast.
There was a look in her eyes right after Jessica had a conversation with mom, she seemed uncomfortable because of it. But instead of talking to me about it, she told me that she’s tired when we arrived at my place.
I decided to let her go knowing that I need to talk to Larry. There were several miscalls from him, and usually, he texted if it’s really urgent, so I gave him a call back while putting Jess’s issue on the back of my mind.
“… her client, Brodie MacMillan, he’s adamant that he wanted their account to be handled by Jessica instead of me, us. I know you told me that you don’t like Brodie, so I did a background check, and turns out he was best buddies with her dead fucked up brother.”
“Fuck, I know he’s a friend of her brother’s but didn’t know they were best buds.”
The chill suddenly crept up to my spine, I didn’t want her to face the scum again. I didn’t want her to deal with him again. Remembering the way she shuddered when he touched her at the last meeting had me agitated already.
“Yeah, and once she got a hold of this request on Monday she will take over their account. She’s quite fond of his dad, MacMillan senior was a very close friend of her dad, and the MacMillans was one of the companies that kept her company afloat in their dark days.”
“Double fuck,”
“Right? so what are you proposing?”
“I don’t know if I’m going to discuss this with Jessica, but I’m not letting her meet him alone. I’m going to pull out some legal shit just to make sure that she’s not in the capacity to meet up and handle clients on her own.”
“You’re going to demote her? Jeez, good luck with that bro,” Larry laughed nervously from the other line.
“Not demote, just cut off some authorities. It’s either that or she’s going to be sexually harassed when she does meet up with him alone, I’ve seen the way he looked at her.”
“Damn.”
“Yep, look, Larry, thanks for informing me this. You should go to dad’s tomorrow, he’s been asking for you.”
“Right, you had dinner with the old man, how was it?…”
We talked for another half an hour then I ended the call, undressed to my boxer shorts, and smiled when I took my pillow and put her to lay on my chest.
I love how she sleeps peacefully using my pillow, it’s too cute making me want to smother her in my embrace. Sighing deeply, I kissed the top of her head and whispered that I love her.
“I hope it’s forever…”
I tensed when I heard her mumble the words.
Forever?
She really wanted me to be her last?

“Wake up, sleeping beauty,”
“It’s seven,”
I kissed the top of her hair while she snuggled in closer to my body and whine from the morning wake-up call.
“Coffee?” I took hers from her side of the end table. She smiled lazily, unlatched herself from my body and took her cup, and rest her back on the headboard.
“You’ve dressed already,” she pouted adorably.
It was Monday morning, I was thinking of going to the office earlier and taking another look at the MacMillan account before they meet with Larry at ten later.
Last Saturday I managed to slip out of my place and went to the office while Jessica was engrossed in bingeing Netflix, turns out it was that easy distracting her with other stuff than work.
“Your breakfast is on the table, your driver is downstairs, take your time. I have an early meeting with Larry.”
I was lying through my teeth, I didn’t want her to find out about my meeting with MacMillan Investment.
“Right, is this how we’re going to function as a couple?”
“Huh?”
“I know you have a meeting with Brodie MacMillan this morning, and you don’t even discuss it with me beforehand…”
Shit!
“Jess,”
“I have my people remember?”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Kayleigh.
“It’s not about that…”
“I know… I know you mean well. But I owe it to MacMillan senior, I need to be involved in his company’s dealings. Wait for me, and that’s not a request.”
I rest back on the sofa and call Larry telling him there’s a change of plan. Jessica looked more disappointed when she came out all dressed for work almost an hour later, I would be pissed too if I were her.
“You should’ve told me,” she stated once we’re in the car, on our way to the office.
“I’m the CEO, we have bought out your company there are legal clauses that stated I don’t have to include you in all of my meetings with your clients. But yes, I know you’re close with Mason MacMillan and I should’ve CC’d you on the meeting detail. And yes, I saw the way Brodie MacMillan looked at you and I’m being your caveman boyfriend, selfishly making decisions for you.”
There I said it all, the silence in the car was deafening and she was quiet for minutes until she finally nodded.
“I will not interfere, I will attend as a courtesy, far from what you think, I don’t want to be in the meeting, but I have promised Mason.” She looked as I drive and listened to her.
“You will lead the meeting. I know Brodie, aside from his attitude he’s freakishly smart and I don’t want to argue with him, I know I’m less experienced than both of you.”
I took her hand and caressed her knuckles, “I’m sorry I went behind your back.”
“Look, Tyler, If we’re going to be a couple I don’t want you to do this kind of stunt anymore. Talk to me, I’m not stupid, I know Brodie, and I despised him just like you do, maybe more.”
I nodded while the caveman inside me was bubbling with annoyance and anger towards her words, thinking I just want to keep her safe.
We reached the office then go to our separate office. Kayleigh looked at me with scrutiny in her eyes then she followed her boss.
The caveman feel was still bugging me when I snapped at my PA, Elsie, to bring me the files for my meeting with the department heads later on that afternoon.
I was in a bad mood, it was a terrible start of the day and Elsie was not helping by batting her eyelashes and showing off her voluptuous curves in my face.
When the meeting was about to start, I could already see that Brodie couldn’t take his eyes from Jessica. That’s why I sneakily told Elsie to take the minutes meeting and told her to take a seat closer to Brodie MacMillan.
The money-hungry flirtatious PA was more than happy to oblige to my request thinking she was going to make me jealous by giving her full attention to the young millionaire.
Jessica saw right through me and she secretly smirked at me, and it worked when Brodie move his attention to the sexy curvy woman who dresses like an office slut.
I still couldn’t believe what I saw in her, looking at her fake tits, lips, nose, and obviously fake feelings.
The meeting ended an hour later where Elsie was asked by the MacMillan brat to escort him to the elevator.
“I didn’t know that you play a good matchmaker.”
“As long as he kept his eyes away from you.” I shrugged, but ushered her into my office and closed the door behind me.
“Why am I here?”
“Are you still upset?”
“Nope,” she answered sharply stating the obvious.
“You’re cute when you’re mad.”
I still couldn’t believe that she’s the same person as the jumpy, stressed-out working woman who looked like she had the weight of the world on her shoulder when I first saw her.
“Tyler, I’m busy and you too, we’ve spent the whole weekend glued to each other. We should really get to work,” she said softly while looking at me, lingering at my lips a little bit too long.
And she didn’t resist when I put my hand to her waist and kissed her temple softly. I know she wanted me to devour her lips but I was teasing her, knowing that she would never make the first move, not in the office.
“I… I should go back,” she stuttered adorably and I lower myself to whisper in her ear.
“I can’t wait until we’re home, I want to see you sprawled on my bed, naked, all flushed and aroused, and give you my kisses,” my hand reached higher and grazed the side of her breast and she gasped.
“I love you, Jessica.” I kissed her pink blushed cheek and opened the door for her.
“Go on, baby, get to work,” I smacked her sexy ass with the faintest force, knowing it’ll affect her more. And she let out the smallest whiny sound before she realized that the door was open, luckily it was a busy mid-morning and none was looking our way.
“Ehm… yeah, see you later,”
I gave her a wink and she actually stomped like an irritated toddler who didn’t get to play with her favorite toy.
Well… well…
