“Not that I’m not glad that you’re taking a day off with me, but I really think we should go to work.”

“Jess, it’s Friday almost weekend anyway, the Gala is not until next Thursday. Relax, we have employees paid for doing their jobs.”

“But you’re a control freak.” I rolled my eyes at him, I learned about his work ethic when I looked into his company for the buy-out.

His workaholic attitude was one of the reasons why I chose to be bought out by his company. I know my people will have stability in their future, Tyler’s dad had definitely raised his sons well.

“I think you broke me, lately I’m not focussing on my work.” He rest his head on his hand, propped his elbow looking at me with a little smile on his face.

It was ten in the morning, we’ve had coffee, breakfast, we even had sex, twice. I was lying naked in his bed confused with what to do with the rest of the day.

Him… I can always do him again.

“Tyler, how can I break you? you’re functioning just fine earlier.” I smiled trying to lighten the air, lately, he has been all touchy-feely with me. Not that I don’t like it, it’s just that I was trying to guard my feelings.

“See, this… I can easily tell that you’re hiding something from me. I’ve never studied anyone this closely before. It’s like you’re my obsession, and when I saw that your smile didn’t reach a certain edge of your cheek, I know that you don’t mean it. Or I can see that your eyes didn’t give me that little wrinkle when you laugh…” he was touching my cheeks, my temple then kissed my forehead.

“Tyler,”

“What is it, baby?”

“It’s nothing, it’s silly, I just need to process everything about you and me, we’re moving at such a lightning speed.”

“I’m thirty-seven,”

“Right, yet you act like you’re seventy-three… what’s the rush? why can’t we do everything like normal people?”

“You mean date?” his stupid childish grin was making my heart beats faster and his contagious smile was making me smile back at him.

“We can do that, it’s been a while since I dated.”

“Where do you want to go? oh, I know, let me surprise you. Go on, get up… shower, and wear something casual. We still have my parents’ dinner thing tonight.”

“Oh right, where are we going? I mean we are going to your parents for dinner this evening, I might have to change. Oh… and this bed is much too comfortable, I’m not sure I want to peel myself from your naked body.”

I whined exaggeratedly, maybe I was being childish but the thought of getting dressed to go out and looking at other people while all I want to do was to snuggle up to his side was making me lose interest in our date, fast.

“Jessica, you’re making me crazy baby, talk to me.”

“I just want you, I want to lay in bed, go to work next door to you, then go home and have lots and lots of mind-numbing orgasms. I don’t want to date, I don’t know how.”

“Let’s try it, you might like going on a date with me?” he pushed me down and gave me a toe-curling kiss, I was breathless when he pulled back.

The sweet handsome man carried me, we took a quick shower and get dress then he leave me to finish my hair and make-up.

He was waiting for me downstairs, telling me that we’re going to the park couple of blocks away from his apartment. It was lunchtime, but the air was warm and nice, he put my hand on the crook of his arm and smiled as we walked and take in the surroundings.

I thought a date was going to movies, clubs, bars, theater, or a fancy lunch. But a walk in the park and buying hotdogs then eating them while walking was a very good feeling. We were laughing then stopping by more street vendors and buy ice cream, bagels, drinks, even the bad-tasting coffee. I was loving our kind of date and he looked pleased with himself.

We were seating on the park bench, looking at ducks on the large pond in front of us. We didn’t even realize it was five already.

“We should go back, we have another date with my parents.” He rubbed my shoulder and kissed my temple softly.

“I can stay here all day, this is my kind of date,” I looked at him and pull him down for an affectionate kiss.

“Tyler said he took you for a date at the park earlier?” his dad looked at me kind of funny, but I just smile and nodded.

I was always kind of starstruck whenever I was in the vicinity of Tyler’s dad. His face has been plastered on business magazines, flaunting his net worth and life accomplishments. I have been fascinated by his business magnate persona knowing he’s very street smart and accomplished all that he had set out.

No one knows about it, but Tyler tilted his head when he saw me blushed when his dad joked about the current business situation and how young people work less and are satisfied with what they have.

“I think people have a different perspective on what makes them happy, maybe it’s not about the money, maybe it’s about the people,”

“Ah, just like how you cut your salary to make sure you can afford to pay more employees and how you selflessly sell your company but insist on keeping your people and yourself as one of the CEO. You’re not leaving the sinking boat, you’re saving your people.”

I blushed a deeper shade of pink, thankfully his mom was calling, telling us that dinner was ready.

His mom was not shy either when she told me that she talked to Nurse Maggie and later on after dinner, she pulled me aside asking what’s going on between me and Tyler.

“I know Tyler said that he loves you, but Jess, darling, I know my son and I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Again, I was trying my best to listen to her knowing she probably hated me, thinking her son deserve better. But apparently, I was wrong when she told me she was afraid he would hurt me instead.

I should be glad, but my chest hurt instead. She knows him better than me, she knows him all his life, and I was lulled by his love that my mind was working on its own thinking further than I really should. Various scenarios are going through my head and I was not listening when he called me out for the second time.

“Jess?”

We have arrived back at his place and I kissed him on the cheek telling him that I was tired and that I wanted to go to sleep. It took less than ten minutes for me to go get ready for bed and he was still talking on his phone.

This is going to be a very long weekend.

I said to myself as I forced myself to sleep. I was hugging his pillow, I just realized a couple of days back that I slept better when I snuggled to his body and his pillow makes a very good replacement.

Sometime during the night, I could feel Tyler took his pillow and pulled me to his chest instead. I relaxed instantly when his warmth surrounded me and his voice drifted in my ear when to whispered that he loves me.
