A weak and useless mate? Just great. I can’t believe Mateo would stand up for her when he had a wife who was watching everything unfold before 

her. 

“You fool” My wolf growled as I closed my eyes. I wasn’t going to argue with him again. 

“Hey babe,” Kate said, coming into my office as I looked up at her. 

She was glowing, as usual. Her hips swerved as the walked up to me. She was all that I imagined in a mate. 

Not some weak woman who can be beaten up by some little weak omega who can’t even fight for her life. 

“What’s up!” I asked her as she came round the desk, sitting by the edge of the table as she folded her arms, 

“So you are hell–bent on not having the ceremony?” She asked, forwarding her arms as I nodded my head. 

“I will never accept her as my mate. And soon Mateo will realise that his making a mistake accepting such a penon as on the chair as she scoffed

“But still Mateo doesn’t look like his willing. I mean, immediately after dinner I saw him heading towards there,” she said as I felt my chest tighten.

“I don’t know. Isn’t he with her right now?” I shrugged my shoulders, looking out the window. 

There was an awkward silence as I listened out to the chattering around the pack and all the people getting excited.

“What about me?” I turned to look at her. 

“Your wolf? Is it getting stronger?” She asked, her voice almost breaking 

“No! I’m resisting our bond, I haven’t felt any different,” I explained to her as she nodded her head.

“This will show what kind of pack we have. If we showed people that we respect tradition. We might be winning over a few more alphas during the ceremony,” she insisted, placing her hand on my shoulder as she gave me a weak smile. 

“Fine. But make sure she stays far away from me,” I cautioned as she beamed with a smile, wrapping her hands around my neck as she kissed my 

check. 

“Thank you,” she said to me as I pulled her closer, planting my lips on hers, and she beamed with a smile. 

“Anything for you,” I whispered as my hands tugged up in her hair. 

The next morning. I went for my usual run before training as I went past Zara’s house. I ran as fast as I could, making my way to the river banks,

“But wait. So you have never sparred before?” Daniel asked her. 

“No. I tried once and ended up almost dying. My father made me promise never to do it again because I am a defect,” she casually said, laughing it off. 

“I don’t think you are a defective wolf. Just a bit of training you can do better.” He replied as 1 stood up watching the two

“So, do you also come here for runs, or maybe you followed me?” She asked as they started to walk away.
