Zara 

Making my way to the training ground, I was in a legging and sports bra with a sweatshirt and trainers with a bottle of water that she suggested I

I arrived at the training ground and I found people in the circle sparring.

This wasn’t going to go as I hoped it would.

My eyes met with Micah, who had his hands folded on his chest while he circled the two ladies who were sparring as he barked instructions to 

Taking a deep breath, I forced myself between two people as I greeted them while watching the two fight. This wasn’t sparing, but an actual fight. One lady was dressed in cargo pants with a bra and combat boots. Her raven black hair was tied up in a bun, and she had a dragon tattoo on her back 

On the other side, was a lady with a slender body, her back well–toned and she wore a grey shirt with a sports bra, her dark brown short–length hair tied behind into a pony. 

“You are late!” Micah said to no one in particular as I looked around because he was looking in my direction when he said that. 

There’s a bit of irritation in his voice as he snaps his head in my direction. 

I raise my eyebrows as I point at myself. He tilts his head, walking towards me as everyone watches on. 

“No, I was talking to your fucking ghost,” he growled, maintaining his gaze on me. 

“I wasn’t. um..” I stuttered, hoping someone would say something, but I knew I had no one on my side. 

“Kate asked me to meet her. I only found out then that am supposed to be training,” 1 tried to explain. 

“Is that so! Or maybe 

aybe you think you are the Alpha’s mate, then you u get to do whatever you want.” He asked as a lump formed in my throat

“Do you know the kind of people I hate the most?” He asked me as I swallowed hard. 

“But I’m not lying.” I insisted, stepping our from everyone. 

He seemed to be having a conversation with someone as he let out a low growl. “Fine. Let’s see what you got,” He said to me as he stepped on the 

circle.

You can’t do this. You have never sparred in your whole life, Skye echoed, 

I know that. But he won’t let me breathe if I don’t spare with him right now. I reminded them, as Paris scoffed. 

“We stand no chance against him. He will beat us to a pup if you do this” Paris remarked as I looked at Daniel, who was in the circle. 

“What? Scared??” He asked me as I swallowed hard, walking up to the circle. 

“No. I have just never sparred before. I don’t know how to fight,” I admined, lowering my gaze to the ground as he scoffed.

that something?” He smirked, amusement in his voice as I looked into his eyes, hoping he would just let me go. 

“Fine. Greta, she’s yours” he stepped away, folding his arms as he watched on. Looking at the girl, she smiled, circling me as I sighed heavily. 

“We can take her, right!” Skye asked, concern evident in her voice as I took a deep breath, positioning myself nicely as I heard giggles and marmars 

around 

“No offence,” the girl suggested as I clenched fists, throwing i 

them as she ducked before she slid onto the ground. 

Chapter 1 

“Behind you!” Skye shouted before I could turn around. Creta kicked me behind as I staggered forward 

I turned around, looking at the girl. She wasn’t going to go easy on me. 

“Fine. Skye. Pick her scent and Paris. Please use your agility. We can outsmart her,” I said, as Paris scoffed. I threw a punch, and she blocked it, punching me right in my ribs. 

I groaned as a metallic taste filled my mouth. “Ah!” I cried, trying to kick her, but she swerved away and turned as she kicked me on my cheek. 

“I can’t believe we are being humiliated like this,” Paris complained as tears filled my eyes, 

This was fucking hard. I was about to cry as I got up throwing punches but did not land, not even one. 

Great did an ankle sweep as 1 fell to the ground. She tried getting up, and I grabbed her by her ankle before climbing on top of her. 

Using her knee, she kicked my back. I landed a blow on her face, but she blocked the second one. Grabbing my right hand, she punched me hard. 

A metallic taste filled my mouth as her fist landed on my jaw. Blood spluttered out of my mouth as she rolled over, pinning me to the ground as she punched my face. I lay there as she continued to punch my face. 

Tears filled my eyes as I thought about the life I would have had. This was all Livy’s fault now here I was fighting for my life, looking at me like a fool in front of everyone. 

“Zara Fight!” Skye echoed on as 1 just let their voices argue. 

“Block her at least.” Paris added, her voice breaking 

“She’s given up,” I heard a voice whisper, while Greta continued punching my face 

“That’s enough!” Mateo growled, using his alpha tone as Greta stopped hitting me, getting off me. His voice sent shivers down my spine as I closed 

my eyes. 

Tears streamed down my face as I saw the blurry skies 

1 coughed, as blood came out of my mouth, trying to sit up. 

“How could you let her treat our mate 

Me like this!” Mateo asked, his voice breaking 

“She’s not my mate. She is weak and useless. Look at her. Being beaten to a pup by great! Greta, of all people?” He asked disappointment in his 

voice. 

“That doesn’t mean she gets to be treated like this. It’s insulting not only to you but to me and the entire tradition of having mates, Mateo growled. as I closed my eyes, trying to stand up.

Mateo rushed to touch me as I removed my hand from him. Everyone watching me as blinked back my tears. 

“Is this what you wanted? If you care about me that much, then please just reject me,” I insisted as he shook his head. 

“Zara, this is not the place to talk about this” Mateo whispered as I looked at her, Micah, who scoffed as he shook his head. 

“You had better reject her before you lose Summy,” Micah said, walking away as Mateo tried to touch me. 

“Let me help you,” he insisted as I pushed him away. 

“Your wife is waiting.” I said to him as I limped from the ground down the stairs. 

“Why didn’t you fight back?” Skye asked as I whimpered softly, sniffling back. 

1 limped through the pack as everyone glanced at me, hearing murmurs. I can’t believe Greta beat like that. 

One omega said before they all burst out laughing as if it was funny, 

“Zaral” Mateo shouted, walking towards me, his hands around my shoulders. 

I tried to free myself from him but he picked me up from the ground bridal style, ignoring my pleas for him to let me ga 

“You are my mate. I will not let you be humiliated like this,” he said as he walked past everyone going straight to my new apartment. 

He gently placed me on the couch before he disappeared into the house I closed my eyes, whimpering softly while covering my mouth 

He took me and carried me out of the living ro 

room to the bathroom, placing me in the tub. 

“This will help your wolf to heal you faster,” He said, grabbing an ice pack as he placed it on the eye which had slightly closed. 

 “Why didn’t you fight back?” He asked me as I lowered my head without responding 

“Am sorry I couldn’t protect you.” He apologised to me as I swallowed hard. The lump in my throat stuck there as I failed to say anything. 

“It’s not your fault,” I said to him as I lowered my head. 

“I can’t believe Micah. He needs you more than anyone, but he keeps pushing you away,” he said as I furrowed my eyebrows 

“I’m so sorry,” he kept on apologising. I took his hand, looking up at him after avoiding his gaze the entire time. 

“It’s not your fault. I should have learnt how to light I chuckled weakly as he shook his head, bringing his hand to my 

my face. 

“Don’t worry. I will have a few bruises but I can heal quickly,” I assured him as he gazed at me. His fingers ran over my lips as I gasped, my core throbbing/ 

My heart raced as I looked into his eyes. He tilted his head, bringing his lips so close to mine as they gently rubbed against mine. 

I gently planted my lips on his as tears streamed down the slits of my face. 

“Yes! Finally!” Skye yelled as I closed my eyes. It seemed like I had a mate who accepted me, but I knew what I was going to do about her.
