Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Jessie Doubts

Jessie, who wasn’t convinced that Alexander was not seeing anyone, decided to call Anderson since she knew Anderson and Alex were close.

After Alexander left for work, she took out her phone and called Anderson.

“Hi, Jessie! What’s up?” Anderson answered.

“Hey Anderson, how are you doing?”

“I’m doing great! How are you?”

“I’m doing fine. Listen, I want to ask you something and I really need you to be honest with me.”

“Of course! I’m an open book, Jessie. What is it?”

“Is Alex seeing someone?”

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

“Hello.” she called out.

“Anderson, are you there?”

“Yeah…. I am. Look, Jessie, Alexander isn’t seeing anyone alright. He’s just being super busy with this new contract he was trying to secure. So don’t get all worked up about it alright.” Anderson said on the phone.

“But last night.. he was talking in his sleep and expressing himself to someone because I know that it ain’t me… so who is she?” she asked.

“Jessie, he isn’t dating or has feelings for anyone alright. He must be dreaming and that has nothing to do with his feelings for you changing.” Anderson assured her.

Jessie sighed on the phone and then spoke.

“I just don’t know what to think anymore. We’ve been together for a long time, and I’ve always trusted him. But lately, something just feels off.”

Anderson paused, then said, “I think you might be overthinking things, Jessie. You know Alex and you know how much he values your relationship. Don’t let your doubts get the better of you.”

“But what if something has changed? What if he really does have feelings for someone else? I just don’t know what to do.”

“I know it’s hard to deal with the uncertainty, but I think you need to talk to Alex about how you’re feeling. The best way to know for sure is to have an honest conversation with him. Do you think you can do that?”

Jessie took a deep breath and thought for a moment. “I can try. But what if he denies it, even if it’s true? What if he just brushes it off and doesn’t take it seriously?”

Anderson replied, “That’s always a possibility, but you can’t control what he says or does. All you can do is be honest about how you’re feeling. I think if you approach the conversation with openness and respect, there’s a good chance he’ll do the same. And if he doesn’t, well, that’s on him. But at least you’ll know where you stand.”

Jessie nodded, even though Anderson couldn’t see her. “You’re right. I need to be honest with him and see what happens. It’s better than just wondering and worrying about it. I know it’s scary, but you’re strong and capable of having this conversation. Just be yourself and trust your instincts.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Jessie took a deep breath. “Thank you, Anderson. You always know just what to say to make me feel better. I’m really grateful to have you as a friend.”

“Aww, you’re welcome. I’m always here for you, no matter what. You know that, right?”

“I do. And I’m here for you too. Always. No matter what.”

Jessie smiled, and a weight seemed to lift off of her shoulders. “I guess I’ll have to find time to talk to Alex. I’m just not sure when the best time would be.”

“I think the sooner the better. The longer you wait, the more it’ll eat away at you. I know it’s not easy, but it’s important to take care of yourself. Do you think you can do it soon?”

“I’ll try. Maybe I’ll call him tonight, after dinner. That way we can have some privacy and won’t be interrupted. Does that sound like a good plan?”

“Absolutely. I think it’s a great plan. Just make sure you’re in a calm headspace when you make the call, okay? Try to relax beforehand, maybe take a bath or read a book. Anything that helps you feel centered.”

“I will. I’ll try to do some deep breathing and meditate before I call him. Thanks for the advice . You’re so good at helping me figure things out.”

“I’m happy to help. That’s what friends are for, right? I’ll be here for you, cheering you on from the sidelines. You’ve got this, I just know it.”

Jessie felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. “Thank you so much, Anderson. I’m so lucky to have you as a friend. You’re the best.”

“Aww, you’re making me blush!

Now, I’ve got to ask – are you feeling a little more ready to have that talk with Alex?”

“I do. I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. I just hope I can get through it without getting too emotional. It’s hard to talk about this stuff.”

“It is hard, but remember to be kind to yourself. It’s okay to feel emotional about something that’s important to you. Just take your time and take deep breaths if you need to.”

“Thank you, Anderson. I’m grateful.” she said and ended the call.

After Anderson ended the call he sighed knowing that Jessie was beginning to suspect that Alexander was growing feelings for Marissa even though she doesn’t know her yet.

He knew he needed to talk to Alexander and let him try to reassure Jessie that he only had eyes for her and no one else.

He got dressed and instead of going to his office he headed straight to Alex’s office.

He knocked and then entered seeing Alexander so caught up with work.

“Hey Alex, we need to talk.” Anderson said firmly, his face serious.

Alexander looked up from his computer, concern etched on his face. “Is everything okay? You look pretty serious.”

“I am serious. This is about Jessie, and it’s important.”

Alexander felt his heart sink. He had a feeling he knew what this was about. “What about her? Is everything okay?”

“That’s what I need to talk to you about. It’s not that she’s not okay, it’s more about how she’s feeling. She’s been having doubts, Alex. She’s starting to feel like you might have feelings for someone else.”
