Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Jaime And Jessie

Alex was stunned. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Could it be true? Could Jessie be keeping something from him? He knew he had to find out, but he didn’t know how. And he didn’t have much time. The speech was in just a few hours. He felt like he was trapped, and he didn’t know what to do.

Just then, his phone buzzed. It was a text from Jessie.

“Hey Alex, I know this is a bad time, but I just wanted to say I’m really sorry about all this. I promise I’ll explain everything to you later.

“Could it be true? Could what Jaime said about Jessie having a deep dark secret be true? There’s only one way to find out.”

Alex’s mind was racing as he paced back and forth in his office. He had to find out the truth, but he didn’t know where to start. He didn’t want to confront Jessie directly, but he knew he had to find out what was going on.

Alex decided to call Anderson and discuss with him what he should do in the situation he is in.

Anderson picked up on the first ring. “Hello, Alex. What’s going on?”

“I’m in a bit of a bind, Anderson,” Alex said, trying to keep the panic out of his voice. “I’m not sure what to do. I need your advice.”

“Of course, you can tell me anything,” Anderson replied, his voice reassuring. “What’s going on?”

“Well, it’s a bit complicated,” Alex began, launching into an explanation of the situation with Jaime and Jessie. As he spoke, he could feel the tension building in his body. He hoped Anderson would have some words.

But Anderson was silent for a moment and Alex had to ask if he was still on the phone because his heart was racing because of what to do about the whole situation.

“Are you still there, Anderson?”

“I’m still here, Alex,” Anderson finally said. “Just taking in all this information. ”

Alex sighed.

“What do you think I should do, Anderson? I’m in a bick of a peak here.”

“Uhmm… You and I know that Jaime never blurfs, if he said he has evidence to prove his point that you and Marissa are not actually married but fake married, then I guess you shouldn’t take his threat lightly. But what secret could Jessie be keeping that Jaime knows about? I don’t know what to do or say in such a situation, Alexander. Maybe you should just hand over the contract to him so that he won’t destroy your reputation in the business world.” Anderson advised.

Alex placed his hands to cover his face as he took a deep breath thinking deeply about what to do.

“So you’re saying that I should just hand over everything I have worked for because of Jaime’s threat?”

“I’m not asking you to do that, but I don’t know what to do in a situation like this, Alex. I really wanna help, but I just don’t know what to do.” he replied.

Alex could hear the frustration in Anderson’s voice. He knew that Anderson was doing his best to help, but he also knew that this was a difficult situation. He knew that he had to make a decision, and he didn’t know what to do.

Alex knew that if he agreed to do this, Jaime would always threaten him to get what he wanted. He was not going to give him the satisfaction. So he decided that it was best for him to figure out a way to win in both ways.

He took a deep breath and turned and looked out his gigantic window at the city as vehicles and lights of the city showed down the building.

“I think I know what I need to do. Marissa told me that we should announce our divorce, but I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“So what are you planning to do, Alexander?” Anderson asked on the phone.

“I don’t know yet, but when I do…. I’ll let you know. I gotta go, Anderson.”

“You got it,” Anderson said. “Just remember, I’m here if you need me. Take care of yourself.”

“Thanks, Anderson. I appreciate that,” Alex replied, and then he hung up the phone.

He stood there for a moment, looking out the window. He felt like he was standing at a crossroads, and he had to make a decision that would change the course of his life. He just hoped that he would make the right choice.

Meanwhile, Jaime had called Jessie to meet up at a restaurant that night.

Jessie arrived at the restaurant and sat down, face filled with anger.

“I told you that you shouldn’t be calling me.” she said.

“Why? Because you don’t want your boyfriend to find out that we have something together.” Jaime said.

“Ssssssshhh! Keep quiet, Jaime or you will get us in trouble!”

“What’s so wrong about it huh? After all we are both grown adults so I don’t see the big deal in this.” Jaime said, as he raised his hand for the waiter walked up to them to take their order.

“Can I get you something to drink?” The waiter asked, interrupting their conversation.

“I’ll have a glass of wine,” Jessie said, her voice tense.

“And for you, sir?” The waiter asked, looking at Jaime.

“I’ll have the same,” Jaime said, his eyes fixed on Jessie.

The waiter nodded and walked away, leaving them alone at the table.

“Look, we need to talk about this,” Jaime said, his voice low. “I’m not going to let you just ignore me.”

“There’s nothing to talk about, Jaime. We both don’t have anything to talk about, okay?” She looked at him and then looked away.

Jaime looked at her and smirked.

“So you don’t want to break up with your boyfriend even after you found out that he got married to someone else that is not you. You must really love him huh?”

“Yes, I love Alexander. And I knew he did that to get the contract and he has told me that there’s nothing between him and that lady.” she said.

Jaime scoffed.

“Do you really think so? Because when I saw the picture of them kissing in Switzerland, it was not an acting, Jessie. It felt like they had feelings and were hiding it and so the kiss was pretty intense.”

Jessie shook her head.

“No, Alexander would never cheat on me with a lowlife like her. Never!”

“You’re being naïve, Jessie,” Jaime said, his voice harsh. “Do you really think that someone would do all of this just for a contract? Alexander must have feelings for her. There’s no other explanation.”

“I don’t want to hear it, Jaime!” Jessie said, her voice rising. “I know Alexander, and I trust him. He would never betray me like that.”

“Trust is a funny thing, Jessie,” Jaime said, his voice softening. “It can be broken in an instant. And once it’s broken, it’s almost impossible to repair. I mean what do you think he would do when he finds out that you and I had sex hmmm. Will you tell him or I should?”
