Love’ss 48
Chapter 48
The young women in the office openly stared at Jason and Andrew as they exited the conference room.
When Andrew spotted Madelyn, his icy expression softened. He
walked over to her with a smile and pulled her into his arms in front of everyone. As he took the pastries she brought him, he asked, “What are you doing here? I told you I’d pick you up after work.”
Only then did the secretaries notice Madelyn standing near the elevator bay. When they saw how loving Andrew was with her, jealousy and envy flashed in their eyes.
“I missed you, so I figured I’d come over when my schedule freed up,”
Madelyn murmured, not at all hiding her thoughts.
Her words clearly pleased Andrew, whose gaze on her grew even more gentle as he led her toward his office. Jason and the others did/ not follow suit and instead wisely went about their business.
As soon as they entered the office, Andrew pinned Madelyn on the couch. His lips brushed against hers in the lightest of kisses as he asked, “You missed me, huh?”
His low and husky voice sent shivers of pleasure down her spine. She nodded and whispered, “Yes.”
Images of their night before at the Miller residence flashed through Madelyn’s mind. Her arms snaked around Andrew’s neck as she
kissed him, her movements natural and enticing.
Andrew’s instincts were guided by the kiss, which stirred his primal urges. He kissed her back deeply, demandingly, as if showing her how much he intended to claim her as his own
Chapter 46
Andrew and Madelyn stiffened at the same time. Andrew’s expression. darkened for just a second before he brushed off those knocks and pinned her down again.
However, the person outside the door seemed persistent. A few more knocks sounded until Madelyn felt embarrassed enough to nudge Andrew away from her. “Get up and look decent. This isn’t the place.
for us to do this.”
Looking stormy, Andrew silently cursed whoever was outside the
door. He would get rid of them so he could return to his unfinished business with Madelyn. “Who is it?” he asked as he got up sullenly.
“It’s me, Mr. Miller.” The voice outside the door belonged to a woman. It was an unfamiliar voice that Andrew couldn’t put a name to, but she had better have interrupted him because of some pressing matter.
He straightened Madelyn’s clothes and made sure she looked dignified before he said, “Come in.”
He was already in his chair behind the desk, and the air in the office was thick with tension. Even Madelyn knew how terrifying he was when he got into a foul mood. She would sooner run for her life than
face his wrath.
The woman who knocked earlier came in then. She looked to be in
her early to mid–20s, and she cut a clean silhouette in her crisp office
attire.
If Madelyn remembered correctly, she was Natalie’s assistant manager. Madelyn had seen her on television once when Natalie appeared on a show.
“Mr. Miller, Natalie bought these souvenirs for you during her recent trip to Felasko. She got hurt at the airport and insisted that I hand these to you on her behalf,” the young woman explained.
Madelyn caught the key information Natalie’s assistant manager
conveyed that the souvenirs were for Andrew, and Natalie was injured. What a sneaky attempt to gain Andrew’s pity and attention!
She scoffed inwardly as she glanced at Andrew, whose expression. was stony and indifferent. He sensed Madelyn’s odd gaze and turned to look at her.
She raised a brow at him in return. She thought about the secretaries‘ gossip she had overheard earlier. As it turned out, there were plenty. of things going on in the company that she was unaware of.
Andrew stared at her speechlessly. She seemed angry. He had lived. with her for long enough to know how to tell her emotions apart. That said, he had no idea why she was angry at the moment.
Was she frustrated that they hadn’t been able to finish their business. on the couch?Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Meanwhile, the assistant manager–Lilian Hutton–followed Andrew’s gaze when she noticed him staring at Madelyn. Contempt shone in her eyes as she took in Madelyn’s young and delicate profile.
Madelyn rarely dropped by the company or appeared with Andrew in public, so Lilian had never seen or heard of her. She thought Madelyn was a gold–digger and immediately regarded her with blatant hostility.
Andrew sounded displeased as he said, “Jason and the others usually handle these things for me. Feel free to look for them the next time for assistance.”
“But Natalie insisted that I personally-”
“What’s your name?” Andrew cut Lilian off.
Lilian froze at the abrupt question before quickly answering “Lilian Hutton, sir.”
“Well, Lilian Hutton, as of today, you’re fired.”
