Redmption 217

Redmption 217

Kara nodded, “I think about this amusement park and it’s beautiful lights.” She chuckled before tightening her grip around me. “And of course, you.”

She really knew how to flatter people.

We arrived at the site where the incident had occurred. Brandon climbed up to inspect the damage and took notes as he went along.

“We’ve lost two entire sets. Each set has 22 lights in 13 different colors,” Brandon reported as he scanned the broken lights before’glancing at the crane nearby.

Finally, he turned to Kara. “Get Mr. Gildon over here. We need to assess the damage and liability.”

Kara nodded before pulling out her phone to give Conrad a call. He arrived quickly and paused when he

saw me.

He seemed surprised at my presence but quickly recovered and smiled. “Maddie, are you here for ant early inspection?”

I wasn’t in charge of this project anymore, so I knew he was teasing me. However, I could tell that he was just joking. I smiled back. “No, I’m just here to see Brandon.”

When I said that, something clearly flickered in Conrad’s eyes before he turned to Brandon. “The construction team already informed me about the incident.”

He stopped at that statement, clearly implying that Brandon should let it slide.

I looked at Brandon and noticed his cold expression. “If they had admitted that it was their fault, then they’re responsible for all the damages. I’ll coordinate the replacements and send the invoice to you.”

Brandon wasn’t playing along. He made it clear that he had no intention of letting this go.. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Conrad was usually well–mannered. However, he seemed a little annoyed by this. “This happened on my watch, so I’ll take the blame.”

He was trying to use his authority to pressure Brandon. However, Brandon wasn’t having any of it. “Then perhaps I should pass the invoice to you, Mr. Gildon.”

Conrad’s expression darkened, but I felt the sudden urge to laugh, Brandon was definitely not playing by his rules, nor was he following the usual corporate playbook.

The tension between the two was palpable and their gazes were locked in a silent battle while standing a step away from each other.

Kara sensed the shift in the atmosphere and nudged me nervously while tugging my sleeve. However, | stayed silent. No matter whose side I took, someone was bound to get hurt. Besides, I had a feeling this tension had something to do with me. So, it was best if I remained silent.

“What invoice?” Chris suddenly appeared and interrupted the standoff.

What had been a duel between the two was now becoming a three–way clash.

The tension escalated. Kara whispered urgently, “Maddle…”

As soon as she whispered to me, Chris called her out. Ms. Spraggins, what do you think?”

Kara flinched. Her grip on my arm tightened as she trembled. “Mr. Chris..

“Just tell the truth,” I reminded her as I gently pushed her forward.

Kara looked back at me before stepping forward to report everything honestly.

After listening, Chris looked at Brandon. “You don’t need to worry about this. I’ll handle it with your boss.”

“I’m in charge here. So, if I say there will be compensation, then there will be.” Brandon was unyielding.

Chris‘ eyes narrowed while a faint, mocking smile tugged at his lips. “And what if I say I’m in charge? Are you planning to quit, or are you thinking about leaving this place?”

He was clearly challenging Brandon, trapping Brandon in his own words.

Brandon, with his straightforward nature, couldn’t match their manipulative tactics, even if it was Conrad. After all, Conrad was just as ruthless as anyone from the Gildon family.

After all the hard work Brandon had put in day and night plus knowing the project was nearing completion, watching them cornering Brandon like this made me feel that Chris was being cruel. He was just taking advantage of Brandon.

I couldn’t stand it any longer and stepped forward.
