Love Redux: Fated to the Handsome Doctor

Part 85 # Unveiling the Truth

Lara woke up again, her hands and feet tied. This time, she couldn’t see at all.

“Mmm!” Lara tried to struggle, but her efforts were in vain. No one intended to free her.

The cold air began to suffocate her. The iron chair supporting her body felt like biting ice. Lara felt paralyzed and helpless. Where was she, actually?Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

The hum of the air conditioner was the only thing she could hear and feel. The draft of air back and forth in the empty room intentionally hurt Lara. Seno indeed had a specific purpose in turning on the air conditioner in freezing temperatures. At least, so Lara could feel that her life was truly meaningless.

“Ah, awake already, I see?”

The very distinctive baritone voice startled her. Lara flinched and automatically turned to the source of the sound on her left side.

“Mmm!” she replied, stomping her feet in anger. Lara knew that her ex-husband was behind all of this.

“Calm down, my wife. Oh. Ex-wife. You’ll die soon,” Seno said coldly as he walked closer to Lara.

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

The sound of his loafers echoed loudly in the almost empty room. There was only one chair and also one table, which, of course, was useless. The room looked like a warehouse without contents, deliberately used to imprison his ex-wife.

“Do you want to talk? Fine. We can talk before you die in my hands today, Lara!”

Seno finally forcefully opened Lara’s blindfold and the cloth that had been gagging her mouth all this time. Hatred immediately emanated from Lara’s eyes. How could someone she once loved be so cruel, wanting to kill her?

“What are you doing? You bastard!” Lara spat at Seno after her eyes and mouth returned to their original function. She truly couldn’t forgive Seno. His actions endangering Lara’s life would never be forgotten. Lara truly hated her ex-husband.

“What am I doing? You should ask your mother! Damn! I just found out that Madam Xenia is actually your mother, you crazy woman!” Seno slapped Lara with extra force. All this time, he felt deceived.

Seno just found out that Lara was the main reason for the halt in investment from Madam. Ironically, Lara was also the reason why Madam gave a large sum of money to Seno and sent him to marry Lara.

“Your mother’s schemes are truly cunning! She gave me money at first, but she also almost bankrupted me because I divorced her daughter. Damn you, mother! Just like that!” Seno grumbled angrily as he recalled the unpleasant incidents he had experienced.

Seno thought Madam gave the investment through an assessment of business unit profiles presented by Seno when he graduated from college. He didn’t expect that all this time, he was just a puppet being controlled as she pleased.

“Thank goodness I cut ties with that damned puppeteer! If not, my life would forever be a joke!” Seno grabbed Lara’s chin and began to kiss her forcibly. “You’re still sweet, my love. Your kiss still tastes good!”

“You!” Lara spat at Seno again and refused to speak further with him.

“Sooo, you’ve been plotting with my mother all this time? What have you been doing?” Lara wanted to find out the root of the problem and the return of her mother, as well as the reason why she faked her death.

“Plotting? We were doing business, you Crazy Woman! Madam injected a $2 million investment into my business, and I made the medicine she requested!” Seno began to explain. Somehow, he didn’t realize that Lara was interrogating him.

“Medicine?” Lara asked again. “What medicine are you talking about?”

“She said the medicine was a potent drug and… a kind of psychotropic. She even stole it from her ex-husband who cheated on her. As punishment, she faked her death and framed the family of the mistress! Really! Your mother’s story is like a soap opera! I just found out, it turns out… you’re her daughter! Hahah!”

Lara swallowed hard. It turned out that the truth her mother wanted to convey was revenge on her father. As a woman, Lara could understand her mother’s pain. But… why sacrifice her too?

“You… when did you meet my mother?”

“Why should I answer that? You Stupid!”

Lara began to think tactically. She had to know all the reasons before intending to escape and seek help. Anyway, Lara had Andre now. There’s no way Andre would let her disappear!

“Aren’t you going to kill me? Can’t I know everything before I become a curious spirit?” Lara tried to find a loophole with a logical game. She knew very well that although Seno was a skilled businessman, he was very weak in controlling his superiority.

“Ah, you’re right, Ex-wife! Alright. Consider this your lucky day. The day you can freely get answers to all your questions… before you die in my hands!”

“Alright….” Lara took a deep breath before continuing. “Now, when did you meet my mother?”

“I met your mother when I just graduated, before the Campus Queen event, remember?”

Lara nodded. Now, she understood why Seno suddenly appeared at her faculty even though their buildings were very different. “Then, what did my mother say? Why did you have to marry me?”

“You know, right? Blood is thicker than water. Maybe, she wanted to have a grandchild from you when she considered herself dead? Ah! Damn! Remembering that, I get angry! Why didn’t I ever think that she was your mother? If I knew, I wouldn’t have killed you, Lara.”

“W-what do you mean?”

“Well, everything didn’t go well. That drug had side effects, and unfortunately, the active substance development was from my antibodies. That evil mother made me a guinea pig after giving millions of dollars. You know? What happened to me?”

“N-no…”

“You must know! We couldn’t do it! Remember? We couldn’t have sex!”

Lara swallowed her saliva again. This time, her heart beat faster. “Th-then? Why was that? What happened to you?”

“I’m impotent, Lara! That cursed drug did suppress depression, but its long-term effects, even my sexual nerves are dead! I have to find a way to restore them!”

“How… how do you do it?” Lara’s brain worked hard to find out the answer. Of course, Lara couldn’t draw conclusions from Seno’s problem because she wasn’t an expert.

“I made an antidote. You know? What substance can make the development of that medicine successful?” Seno baited Lara with all his analytical skills. If she were smart, she would surely know about all the events she experienced in this case.

“No,…” Lara refused to conclude. She didn’t want to think of the unthinkable. “Where is my child!” Lara finally struggled again and bit her lower lip in anger.

“Ah, it seems you’re starting to understand, huh?” Seno smirked and gripped Lara’s chin again. “Right, my dear. That’s the purpose of our child. I need the body cells from our child for that psychotropic antidote. Thank you, sincerely, because of you… all my dreams are finally perfect.”

“NOOO! YOU BASTARD!”
