Love Redux: Fated to the Handsome Doctor

Part 61 # Let’s Get A Divorce

“Mr. Seno?”

A doctor came out of Lara’s intensive care unit. Seno immediately approached him and nodded vigorously when the doctor confirmed his identity.

“What’s wrong, Doc? How’s my wife?” Seno asked anxiously. He was truly worried and couldn’t rest peacefully until Lara’s condition was confirmed.

“Mrs. Lara has experienced quite serious bleeding. We have treated her and are now doing everything necessary to maintain her health and the health of the baby she’s carrying,” the doctor said with a serious expression.

Seno felt uneasy. It seemed like the doctor’s words didn’t stop there. “Th-then. What will happen, Doc?”

“It’s important to remember that this bleeding can be a sign of a serious condition. We will continue to monitor and provide the necessary care. If this condition doesn’t improve, we will consider other options, including premature delivery if absolutely necessary,” the doctor concluded.

Seno swallowed hard. He didn’t expect his child’s birth to come so soon. “Premature delivery?” he repeated. The doctor nodded and offered support to the seemingly shocked soon-to-be father.

Seno never imagined that the consequences of his irresponsible actions with Olivia would result in such a bad outcome for Lara. Seno truly felt guilty. “Th-then, does she… need surgery?”

“Yes, that might happen if the lady’s condition becomes really worrying. We have to anticipate the occurrence of health complications for the mother and the baby if the bleeding continues.”

Seno ran his hand through his hair. He felt torn. But on the other hand, Seno was also quite happy with this news. The long-awaited birth of his child was finally imminent. Seno wouldn’t have to endure any longer with Lara, his weak and sickly wife.

“I need to contact our personal doctor first. Can you wait?” Seno asked later.

The doctor nodded.

Seno immediately pressed the button on his phone and called the personal doctor who was in the secret laboratory.

“The child is about to be born,” Seno said straight to the point. Dr. Hanung-the doctor responsible for research in the secret lab-immediately smiled.

“That’s good news, Sir,” said the doctor. Some of Seno’s subordinates who were in the lab seemed to eavesdrop on the doctor’s joy as he was connected with their boss. A cheerful atmosphere was immediately created.

The research team felt that their success was within reach.

“This antidepressant drug will be successful, Doc,” said the bald-headed assistant joyfully.

“Of course, who would have thought? Our research for months turns out to have significant results,” Dr. Hanung said happily. As a medical practitioner, the development of herbal medicine with his own chemical compounds was a turning point for the doctor.

Dr. Hanung was often referred to as an amoral doctor just because he conducted unusual drug tests on humans. His practice license was revoked, and he lived in the trap of a relatively large debt.

Seno’s appearance as an employer brought a new breeze to the ambitious researcher. Armed with a manual and secret recipe from Madam X, they both started the first trial in the doctor’s garage.

When all the tools and materials were ready, Dr. Hanung and Seno began to expand the area. Thus, this secret laboratory was born, with staff with similar dreams working diligently to create impossible drugs that they had never found in the market.

“I’ll buy my wife that famous Gucay bag, hehe….” The bald-headed man already imagined an endless flow of money. Once this drug is launched, they will feast and reap huge profits.

“Well, I’ll build an even bigger laboratory! Haha!” Dr. Hanung didn’t want to be outdone. He also shared his big dreams after this project ends with the success they hope for.

No one felt that morality should be upheld when capital became the main goal. For Seno, the overflow of wealth was the best, different for Dr. Hanung, he just wanted to be free to work without being bound by norms.

For him, knowledge should be free of value. Good and bad will be known after the trials are conducted and… market response also determines the expected results.

Seno entered the intensive care unit where Lara was. His heart began to calm down. Now, he knew what to do.

“Lara….” Seno called softly.

Lara looked lying on the all-white bed. Her face was pale, and her eyes were still closed. Although asleep, her face still reflected discomfort and pain. Seno sat beside her, gently holding his wife’s hand.

“Lara, honey, I’m here,” Seno whispered as softly as possible. He tried to comfort his wife, although his heart was rejoicing uncontrollably.

Lara slowly opened her eyes. She saw Seno although not very clearly. Seno. That man again, who always made her suffer like this.

“Le-leave,” Lara whispered weakly, brushing off Seno’s hand holding hers.

There was no joy or safety in being near her husband. Lara felt the opposite. Seno was not a reliable man. Lara was fed up with everything about him!

“Don’t worry, honey. The doctor will do their best for you and our baby,” Seno said, trying to smile kindly. He didn’t hear Lara’s whisper. Seno just thought, his wife must be fragile and needed someone by her side.

Lara smirked cynically. She didn’t need Seno to be by her side. Now Lara understood, Seno always ended up hurting her. She couldn’t take it anymore. Lara had decided to part ways and take care of their child on her own.

“Seno….” Lara called weakly.

“Yes, honey?” Seno still smiled kindly.

“Di-vorce.”

“What? I didn’t hear you, Lara. Do you need something?” Seno asked. He couldn’t hear Lara clearly. Seno tried to take the glass of water on the nightstand and gently offered it to his wife.

Seno would endure. He would be a good husband for the last time.

After their child was born, Seno would divorce Lara. He truly felt free and happy. Seno didn’t have to pretend to be the ideal husband anymore, obedient and also self-restrained for the harmony of their marriage.

“Drink,” Seno said softly. He helped Lara lean back. Instead of accepting the glass, Lara pushed it away.

CRASH!

The glass shattered into pieces on the bedroom floor.

“LARA!” Seno shouted, startled. “What are you doing?” he demanded an explanation.

Lara just smirked, as she had been doing since earlier. Lara was tired of Seno’s behavior. Her husband never changed. Lara had endured enough and suffered enough. Now, Lara would act. She would make a decision.

“Seno Adhijaya. Let’s get a divorce!”
