Love Redux: Fated to the Handsome Doctor

“What happened? Where’s Lara? Is she going into labor?” Seno bombarded his driver with various questions until finally, it was only the driver’s rough breath that served as the main answer.

“P-please, Sir,” he managed to say.

“Tell me! Where’s Lara?!”

“Madam is in the ICU. We need to wait a little longer, Sir,” the driver said with a bewildered look. He could indeed be blamed. As a subordinate, one of his duties was to calm his employer’s emotions.

“Now, explain! How did all this start?” Seno exploded. His breath was ragged. He truly felt blindsided. How could he overlook Lara’s condition and instead accompany Olivia? Seno was not thinking straight!

“Madam started feeling pain after the reunion, Sir. According to the doctor who examined her earlier, there were signs of severe shock affecting her…”

“W-what?!”

Seno clenched his mouth shut. For a moment, he tried to guess what could have caused his wife to go into such shock.

“A-and then?”

“Well, Madam’s stomach was hurting, so I immediately took her to the hospital. I thought she was going into labor, Sir…”

“What did the doctor say?”

“Not certain yet, but… there was bleeding in Madam’s birth canal,” the driver explained with a frightened expression.

“Bleeding?!”

“Yes, Sir.”

Seno began to worry, even panic. He never thought Olivia’s scheme could bring danger to his wife to this extent. “Damn!” Seno cursed. This time, he truly lost his sanity.

“Seno!” Someone called his name. Olivia. How could that witch even show up when Seno was thinking about her?

“What are you doing here! Go away!” he ordered. But Olivia stood her ground. She had been trying to find out what had been troubling her beloved all this time. Oh! It turned out… her meticulously planned scheme resulted in tragedy. Olivia was truly delighted.

“Don’t dismiss me like that. Is… your wife alright?”

Without needing to ask, Olivia already knew what had happened. The woman in the ICU must be Lara, the heart of Seno’s life that seemed to be hanging by a thread. Although… it was all just falsehood known not only to herself.

“Pft!” Olivia couldn’t even contain the tingling sensation in her heart. She had almost given up, thinking Lara hadn’t seen the performance she had prepared. Turns out, Olivia was wrong. Lara saw it! And, this was the result! She truly felt triumphant.

“Get out of my sight!”

“Calm down, Seno! This is a hospital,” Olivia tried to lower her voice. Though, Seno felt just the opposite.

Seno felt his blood boiling seeing Olivia’s presence in such a critical situation. He wanted to drive her away, but the complicated situation prevented him from focusing. His eyes kept looking at the door of the ICU, where his wife, Lara, fought for her life.

“Go away, Olivia! You’ve caused enough trouble!” Seno hissed, his eyes burning with anger. Olivia just smirked cynically, seemingly enjoying Seno’s suffering.

“Seno, perhaps now is not the time to argue. Lara needs us,” Olivia said condescendingly, as if feeling more entitled to be in that situation.

Seno tried to contain his anger. He knew that the situation didn’t allow for arguing. He decided to focus on Lara’s condition. In his heart, Seno vowed that if his wife was okay, he would end all his relationships with Olivia.

No. Not because of his love for Lara, but… Seno had to protect what his wife was carrying.

After a while, a doctor emerged from the ICU. His facial expression was quite serious. His demeanor signaled that the news he was about to deliver might not be pleasant.

“How’s my wife, Doctor?” Seno asked, his voice trembling, trying to cover his anxiety and worry.

The doctor nodded, taking a deep breath. He finally spoke with a rather alarming tone.

“Your wife’s condition is quite serious. We managed to stop the bleeding, but she is still very unstable. Mrs. Lara is fighting to stay stable. We will do everything we can.”

Seno felt shattered. Lara, the woman carrying his child, was now fighting for her life again. Seno felt guilty for being too caught up in the double life drama he created with Olivia.

Olivia tried to approach Seno, comforting him with the false sincerity she created. Olivia wanted to enjoy this spectacle up close. She truly couldn’t miss this tragedy. “We need to support each other, Seno. This is not the time to fight. I will help Lara too.”

Seno stared sharply at Olivia. He knew more about Olivia’s character than anyone else who was fooled by her sweet words. “Don’t pretend to care, Olivia. You know exactly what you’ve done.”

But Olivia remained unfazed. She seemed to have her own agenda behind Seno’s displeasure. The woman would do anything to not be ousted. Olivia still needed Seno for the continuation of her luxurious life… and to trample on Lara’s dignity.

Meanwhile, Mahya, who was already at the office, was rechecking the documents regarding her investigation into Seno. This time, she was sure James wouldn’t make it difficult for her.

“Hey! Just got back?” Carol asked curiously. She didn’t sense any happiness from Mahya. Her colleague was busy with notebooks and report files that were originally hidden in the deepest part of the box.

“Carol, help me find the location of Seno’s new factory,” Mahya asked her friend.

“How did you know Seno has a new factory?” Carol was curious. She entered Mahya’s room and locked the door tightly.

“You know, I’m a wild horse chasing prey to the deepest hole,” Mahya started rambling and didn’t answer Carol’s questions directly.

“Yeah… I know that,” Carol laughed and started helping Mahya. “So, what did you find out at the reunion?”

“A pair of disgusting rats!”

“What?” Carol widened her eyes. She didn’t expect someone to be considered a ‘rat’ by Mahya. “Is that Seno?”

“Yes. He came with my batchmate, Olivia. And… that woman is not his wife,” Mahya explained with a disgusted expression.

“Huh? Isn’t his wife also your batchmate?” Carol couldn’t believe it. Where did the crazy idea of attending a formal event with a mistress come from? A sane person wouldn’t do that.

“That’s what I thought. Turns out, only Seno is insane.”

Back at the hospital, Seno sat alone in the hallway. He pondered all his mistakes and hoped that Lara would recover. Meanwhile, Olivia, who remained there, tried to approach Seno.

“We can work together, Seno. Don’t let this scandal ruin both of us,” Olivia teased.

Seno looked at Olivia with a cold gaze, “This is not the time to talk about that, Olivia. I need to focus on Lara.”

Olivia smirked cunningly, “You’ll need someone who understands this world to help you get through all of this, Seno. And I’m here for that.”

Seno ignored Olivia and closed his eyes again, praying for his wife’s swift recovery. What decision Seno would make after this, only time would tell. Everything he needed to consider was… the safety of the baby carried by Lara.
