Despite leading a large force, Quell and Vachon were taking a beating from
the constant firing coming from the northern base fortress. Feeling stuck and
unsure, they had no choice but to retreat.
“Quell, Vachon, Mr. Emmanuel sent us an urgent message!” Aqua called out
as she arrived on horseback, having ridden from the central region.
Surveying the grim scene, she thought, This battlefield is a mess–bodies
everywhere, and blood staining the ground.
“What’s up, Aqua?” Vachon asked, clearly fretted as he noticed her hesitation.
“Wait, what?” Aqua snapped back to focus, realizing they couldn’t allow any delays.
Composing herself, she clarified, “Mr. Emmanuel just got word that the
Airspace Group is coming and will reach us in about eleven hours. We’ve got
less than nine hours to act. By 6 p.m., we need to hit all five buttons at all the bases to open the docks.”

She made the trip in just an hour to get the message. However, the northern
base was so far from the dock that it would take a minimum of two hours to
reach it. Given the tight schedule, they realistically had around seven hours
to wrap things up. Thus, they were short of the nine hours they initially
believed they had.
“Capture it before 6 p.m.? That’s a joke!” Quell laughed bitterly, his frustration
evident.
Seeing the devastation around them, Aqua felt sad but pushed it aside. Listen up! Two hours ago, the Southern Alliance took control of the southern base! We, the Black Wolf Team, can’t let the Ophanim Clan get the better of
us!”
As soon as she finished, she second–guessed her words. She knew how driven Quell and Vachon were. The thought of falling behind was something
they couldn’t tolerate.
On the other hand, TriSec was even more fired up. Standing tall, he swore, D’mn it! We can’t let the Ophanim Clan outdo us. I’ll buy us some breathing

room with a direct attack. You all focus on flushing out those b*stards holed
up in the fortress!”
Just then, Quell shot him a skeptical look. “How are you planning to buy us
time, TriSec?”
TriSec was all business. “I’ve got my methods. Just get the others ready to
back me up.”
“Got it!” Quell, fiercely loyal to Emmanuel and determined not to be the weak
link, snapped into action. “Get ready for a new attack on the enemy base in
twenty minutes!”
Our powerful force of over two thousand has shrunk to just over a thousand.
Plus, we hadn’t breached the enemy’s defenses before–can we pull it off
now? Uncertainty and worry were evident on the soldiers‘ faces.
“Solana!” TriSec called out before heading into the fray, seeking out the Frost
and Flame Alliance member.

Though both wielded fire, their styles were distinct, and neither matched the
ferocity of the Queen of the Dark Night Islands‘ flames.
“What’s up?” Solana asked, glancing over as she finished prepping her gear
for the upcoming clash with the Airspace Group.
“I need a favor. Give me some of your firepower when I charge the enemy
base gate!” TriSec stated, his voice earnest despite his usual upbeat demeanor and “three seconds” catchphrase.
Puzzled, Solana gave a wry grin and asked, “Don’t you have your own
firepower?”
TriSec chuckled, slipping back into his familiar easygoing tone. “Of course I do,
but your flames pack more punch. Just a small favor–shouldn’t take more
than three seconds of your time.”
“Alright, I’ll back you up. Just holler when you need me!” Solana granted,
always ready to support her team.

“Thanks a lot!” TriSec replied gratefully.
Solana chuckled. “What are friends for? We’re all in this for freedom.”

“Absolutely! For the cause that drives us!” TriSec cheered. He then walked
away, his mood heavy as his gaze lingered on the lifeless bodies strewn
around the battlefield.
Indeed, those always full of life often found these grim scenes the hardest to
endure.
Moments later, TriSec sat alone on the ground and pulled out clusters of
brownish–yellow snacks from his pack. With a determined look, he gritted his
teeth and ate them.
