Chapter 35

Lenny was wearing a white shirt with the two topmost buttons undone. His sleeves were rolled up,

revealing his slender forearms and wrists.

In the daytime, he was dressed in a suit, looking serious, indifferent, and unapproachable. But now, he

looked much more relaxed, and he seemed easier to get along with.

He was born with such a noble aura. Scarlet thought that everything he touched, even an ordinary bowl

of noodles, turned into gold.

In all aspects, Lenny was a perfect man but not a good husband.

She was a young woman who once fell for him because of his good looks. After all, girls were always

infatuated with handsome men.

water in front of Lenny.

Lenny immediately handed his glass of water to her.

stopped coughing.

freak. He didn't like it when people touched his personal belongings.

He had his own tableware, teacups, and toiletries in the house.

to make a big deal out of it. She quietly pushed the glass back in front of him, pretending that nothing

Lenny was a little thirsty, so he picked up his glass and drank the remaining water from it. His lips and

Scarlet's touched the same spot in the glass's rim.

Lenny was also a little stunned. He suddenly realized this was the first time he had taken the initiative

to give his glass to someone.

He found comfort in the explanation that Scarlet was choking. It was an emergency, and he had to act

fast and help her.

Because he was thirsty, he told himself. He found reasonable excuses for himself and continued to

"This is the first time that we sat close together and shared a meal." Scarlet couldn't help sighing after

Each of them occupied one end of the table. But this time, they were sitting next to each other.

Hearing Scarlet's words, Lenny frowned and thought about them carefully.

In their one year of marriage, they only sat and ate together once. It was when they decided to part

ways for good.

Scarlet lowered her head and pinched her fingers. She was a little anxious and short of breath.

"Well... Mr. Foster, I have never bothered you with or for anything during our marriage, have I?" Scarlet

asked softly.

Lenny didn't like it when she called him Mr. Foster, but he didn't say anything.

"No, you haven't."

In the past year, she had never called him or asked him for anything.

His mother and grandmother had been at odds with each other for many years. When Scarlet joined

the family, the tension between them had eased a lot.

Scarlet was like a peacemaker in the Foster family. She would invite Lenny's mother and grandmother,

Nita and Marlene Foster respectively, to dinner, tell them jokes, and have a great time with them.

Lenny's father, Jamal Foster, often went on overseas business trips. He was busy running the

company's branches abroad and only came home once in a while. Lenny's grandfather passed away a

long time ago, so Marlene had been a bit lonely and so had Nita.

Scarlet's presence had been a great comfort to the two forlorn women.

Sometimes, when she had nothing to do, Scarlet would even take them to watch a movie and go out

for a walk. Because of Scarlet, Nita and Marlene's relationship had evolved for the better. They had

become much more open-minded toward each other, and they learned how to spend quality time

together.

Every time Nita called Lenny, she would mention Scarlet and how she was such a sweet and delightful

girl who always tried her best to make her in-laws happy.

His mother liked her daughter-in-law very much.

Because Scarlet was instrumental to the mending and strengthening of his mother and grandmother's

bond, Lenny owed her a favor.
