“An apology?” Shan Ni laughed in a sharp voice. “To that bitch?”

“Is that a problem?” Echo Xu sounded pissed at the other end of the line.

Echo could not fire her, but after all, Shan Ni was an employee, and Echo was her manager.

“Fine, I’ll apologize to her. But you see Echo. I can’t just leave the club with so many customers needing me here, right? ” She said casually, but Echo understood her threat.

Oppressing the impulse to rush to her and slap her in the face, Echo hung up on her and called Barry Mo.

Wei Xu looked at Ethan narrowly, for he had not seen him much in this way. Ethan stood stock-still in front of the window, holding a glass of whiskey and gazing into the outside. He did not even notice Wei Xu came into his office.

“Bro.” He tapped him on the shoulder. “What’s going on?”

Wei Xu was annoyed when he was called to London, but he could see that Ethan did need help, which eased his temper a bit.

“Hey. I need you to do some research for me. And you need to do it in person.”

“Wow, it sounds like secrets. I like secrets.” Wei Xu joked.

Ethan turned his head and gave him a glance. It seemed that he was hesitating about choosing Wei Xu to do it.

Wei Xu responded quickly.

“Sir, yeah sir! I’ll do whatever it takes to keep it between you and me. You can ask me to do anything you want, sir!” Still joking, but he made a promise.

“I need you to investigate Belle Ye. I need to know during those five years, where she was, who she contacted. Anything and any details.”

He paused and added.

“And she can’t be aware of this.”

Opening his mouth, Wei Xu was speechless. He could not believe Ethan had him quitting his work and flying thousands of miles to London for this shit.

“Is that a problem?” Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked.

“I mean...You could have just called me.” He looked embarrassed. “And...Though you have already dragged me here, there is still nothing I can do about it.”

“Why is that?” Ethan picked up a cigarette and stuck it between his lips.

“Who the hell is supposed to know where she was if you don’t just ask her. Nathan Luo and you both spent years looking for her, but neither of you found her.”

“This time we don’t go official. Send messages to your friends of underworld. They might dig out something.”

“Oh, man. So I’m here just to deliver a message. Am I your postman or something?” Wei Xu rolled his eyes and continued. “But do you really try to count on them?”

Ethan lit up the cigarette and smoked.

“Give it a try.”
