Chapter 165 The Status Symbol

Chapter 165 The Status Symbol

At these words, a middle-aged man, in a black suit, walked down from the second floor. There was an

outbreak of muttering at his appearance.

“Look, here Edith Bush comes! He is in charge of the auction business for the McGill family.”

“What is he doing here? He doesn’t make many public appearances before.”

“I think it will be a big surprise at the upcoming auction! We’re so lucky.”

Bryan’s lips arched into a smile. He looked contemptuously at Baron and said, “Now for some fun,

man! If you don’t have one hundred million dollars, Ha-ha, utter shame!”

When Susan saw Edith, she began to worry about Baron. She had heard of him before. Edith was NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

important to the McGill family.

But Baron’s face did not change and he said nothing.

Edith went straight to Baron and said gently, “Excuse me, sir! I am Edith Bush, in charge of tonight’s

auction. I should check over your assets. Please understand and cooperate.”

“Mr. Bush, he is my friend. Could you skip this part, please?” Susan implored.

But Edith showed no emotion and said, “Sorry, Susan! That’s the rules. Everybody here must follow the

rule.”

Susan didn’t know what else she could do. She looked at Baron with obvious concern. She didn’t think

Baron have one hundred million dollars.

“Mr. Bush…” Susan continued, but she was immediately interrupted by Edith.

“Say no more, Susan, or you will take your Lewis family into a big trouble!” Edith said coldly.

Susan was a little panicked and ceased to speak.

Baron looked at Edith with interest. Edith was neither humble nor arrogant, and he’s very meticulous

about his work. The McGill family was lucky to have such a good helper.

At this point, Kris was striding toward them, looking strained. “Mr. Bush, he is my friend. Could you do

me a favor…” he said.

But before he finished the sentence, Edith interrupted him too, “So the Brown family decided to meddle

in the McGill family’s affairs? Let me be very clear, anyone who try to meddle in this, get out of here!”

Kris’ face went an ugly green at the harsh words. he was momentarily lost for words.

“Well, I really appreciate your help, Kris! But we should obey the rules,” Baron said. He paused for a

moment and continued, “But there is a condition. Bryan just slung mud at me. So, if I have one hundred

million dollars, Bryan should be punished.”

Bryan was shaken by these unexpected words and his face went white.

Edith nodded and said, “Of course, we have these rules. Anyone who has slandered you should get

evicted and can never enter my auction, as long as you fulfill this auction’s requirements.”

After hearing this, Bryan and Kenny looked at each other, and the scowl on their face deepened.

“OK!” Baron smiled. He pulled a black-and-gold card from his pocket and put it on the table. “Here! It’s

my bankcard. You can check it.”

Edith stared at the card incredulously. Only once had he seen such a card. The head of the McGill

family had the same one.

The black-and-gold card was a status symbol for the richest and the most powerful class. But

surprisingly, the young man in front of him had such a valuable card! It’s hard to believe!

If the card was real, it was enough to prove Baron’s identity.

“A black-and-gold card!” Bryan screamed sharply. He had never seen such a card but only had heard

about it.

But next second, he gave a small snort of laughter. “That is very stupid of you, Baron. Do you realize

what a black-and-gold card actually means? Don’t make a fool of yourself.” he sneered.

Then he turned to Edith and said, “I know him very well, Mr. Bush. He is nothing but a son-in-law of the

Perry family, a very small family. So, he can’t have a black-and-gold card. Don’t be fooled by the jerk!”

Edith also suspected that this card was fake, but he didn’t make a hasty conclusion. After a moment’s

hesitation, he ordered, “Check over the card!”

Soon, his assistant walked towards Edith and muttered in his ear, “It’s true!”

Edith’s face changed a little. Then he went straight to Baron and handed over the card. “Mr. Owen, you

fulfill our auction’s requirements. If I have offended you, then I offer my sincerest apologies.” He said

and bowed to Baron.

Everyone was shocked to see that. And at the same time, they realized that Baron’s card was true!

Bryan was totally freaked out about it. “That’s impossible! There must be some mistake! He is nothing

but a son-in-law of a very small family! The black-and-gold card must be false!” he shouted.

“You’re questioning the McGill family’s ability?” Edith said sternly.

“No, no. That’s not what I meant,” Bryan explained rapidly.

Kenny was afraid that Bryan would drag the Woods family into a big trouble. He got in front of Bryan

and smacked him right across the face. “You bastard! Apologize to Mr. Bush right now!”

“You’re wrong! He should apologize, not to me, but to Mr. Owen!” Edith sneered.
