Chapter 452 Being Pampered Makes All The Difference
Sensing the silence on the other end of the line, Daphne didn’t want to make things difficult for her friend, She cautiously said, “If it’s inconvenient for you to go, I can always find another opportunity.”
“No,” Lysander quickly regained her composure. “I was just lost in thought.”
Daphine was sceptical. “Really?”
“Really,” Lysander revealed a bitter smile where she couldn’t see, her voice didn’t betray a hint of his true feelings. “But, do you have an invitation? Can you get me in?”
Only then did Daphne breathe a sigh of relief. “You don’t need to worry about anything. Just continue to rest at home. Once I’ve prepared everything and the invitations, I’ll come to get you!”
The birthday party was officially scheduled for Sunday evening.
By half past four in the afternoon, Daphne had already arrived by car at the foot of Lysander’s apartment building. She brought not only two invitations but also pre–coordinated outfits and jewellery.
Lysander couldn’t help but be taken aback. “It’s just a birthday party. Is there a need to dress up so dramatically?”
The situation seemed not as simple as she had initially thought.
Daphne let out a long sigh. “You’ll understand why when you get to the party. Tiffany’s birthday celebration has become more than just a simple birthday party. I can assure you, there are definitely others who have ulterior motives like me, and they are even more daring than I am.”
Considering Lysander’s injury, Daphne had specially prepared a high–collared dress for her. Surprisingly. it matched her temperament perfectly, making her look both elegant and dignified. As for the bruise on her wrist that had faded, it was easily concealed by a bracelet.
Lysander felt a bit out of place, and she couldn’t help but say, “Lab coat is more comfortable.”
“Not at all.” Daphne looked at her, feeling a spark of admiration. “You look incredibly professional right now, like a textbook example of an elite doctor. There’s no way investment bank managers won’t believe
you.
Lysander was hurried by her into the car.
Before long, they arrived at the location of the birthday party.
Unsurprisingly, it was in a high–end business hotel under Guerra Group.
Daphne shared the news she had heard with Lysander. “This place has been booked out entirely tonight, just to celebrate Tiffany’s birthday. Wow, Josiah really spoils his little girlfriend.” Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Lysander casually remarked, “He’s always been quite generous with women.”
Didn’t he spoil Lysanne like this before as well?
Lysanne would get whatever she asked for.

Daphne whistled. “Well, isn’t this a turn of the tides? Now that Josiah has a new love, he only has the heart for the new partner.”
With a light chuckle, Lysander reminded her. “I’m also someone from his past.”
Daphine gave her a wink, “You’re now the one Josial desperately wants but can’t have.
The car drove straight through the grand entrance of the hotel courtyard, finally coming to a halt just before the laid–out red carpet. On either side of the unending swath of red were flowers, air–shipped in for the event. Judging by the sheer volume, it seemed as though every rose and lily in Harborbrook had been bought out for this occasion.
As soon as the two stepped out of the car, they were immediately approached by staff members dressed in black suits to check their invitations. Only after this were they allowed to proceed.
Daphne, hand in hand with Lysander, walked down the red carpet alongside the other guests.
Inside the hotel, there were several halls, each attended by a guide. They were all attractive and courteous, immediately stepping forward to greet guests as they saw them. “Please follow me. You may rest here first.”
“Has the party not started yet?”
“Yes, we’re still making the final preparations.”
At that time, the event hadn’t officially started yet, but the hall was already set up with drinks and snacks in a self–service style. On either side, there were intricately designed dessert stations, interspersed with balloons and flowers.
Beyond the standard arrangements, the venue was filled with elements of Pokémon everywhere one looked. There were stickers, figurines, and even plush toys scattered about.
Daphne was all praises as she walked along. “Ms. Lanister must be a fan of Pokemon, being pampered really sets one apart, such attention to detail. Oh, by the way, I once attended Tiffany’s birthday party, it was her coming–of–age celebration when she turned eighteen. The scale of that day’s event was nothing compared to today’s. There weren’t many guests celebrating her birthday. I suspect they weren’t here for the Lanister family at all, most likely they were here for Josiah.”
Lysander reminded her, “Stop looking at these things. Don’t forget our main task for today.”
Only then did Daphne retract her gaze, her expression turning serious as she scanned the entire hall, searching for someone.
“Yeah, that’s her.”
Lysander followed Daphne’s pointed direction and saw a delicate woman sitting not far away. She was dressed in a fitted white blazer, her/hair neatly coiled up behind her head. A laptop rested on her knees, suggesting she was engrossed in work.
Daphne took the opportunity to share more about the manager with Lysander. “She’s the manager of Enamore Investments. Her name is Whitney Spears, a few years our senior. Those who know her well call her by her first name, but to play it safe, we should address her as Ms. Spears until we’re more familiar
with her.”
“Okay, got it,” Lysander said, taking a sip of her fruit juice.

Whitney had already crossed paths with Daphns, and she was well aware of her intentions. Upon seeing her, she promptly acknowledged. “Ms. Everhart, I didn’t expect to run into you so soon again.”
“Yes, Ms. Spears, we meet again,” Daphne greeted with a radiant smile.
“Right,” Whitney responded, her tone rather indifferent. “But today is Ms. Lanister’s birthday celebration. Let’s not discuss work. You guys carry on, I need to excuse myself for a bit.”
Whitney spoke with utmost courtesy, yet her rejection was utterly unyielding. She was the kind of person who maintained a poker face but was incredibly decisive.
However, who in the investment company would lack their own opinions?
Whitney’s attainment of a managerial position surely indicated her exceptional abilities.
Lysander had already sensed the difficulty of accomplishing this task and couldn’t help but cast a worried glance at Daphne.
Daphne was prepared for this, still smiling as she said, “Ms. Spears, don’t worry. We’re all here for the party, so why would I choose now to discuss work? I just came over to say hello because I happened to bring a friend. This is Lysander Thorne, my best friend, who was once a leading doctor in the obstetrics and gynaecology department at Central Hospital.”
She put particular emphasis on the phrase “obstetrics and gynaecology“.
Lysander greeted Whitney in a soft voice, “Hello, Ms. Spears”
Reaching out with a friendly gesture, Whitney politely responded, “Ms. Thorne, you are truly
accomplished for someone so young. However… I apologize, I’ve been rather swamped recently and I may have gotten a bit mixed up with names. Your name is?”
“Lysander.” Lysander said, “Lysander Thorne.”
With an amused expression, Whitney quirked her lips. “This name, it seems somewhat familiar to me.”
