Rita’s POV

When I arrived at the office the following day, I met Evelyn and Adam who informed me that Finn had just returned to his office, and he has been at our department waiting for my arrival.

Deja Vu! Finn was always expecting me.

I knew he was eager to hear what I wanted to tell him, so I went to meet him.

“Good morning Finn” I greeted right from the door before moving closer to him.

“Have your seat, make yourself comfortable Rita” He said, leaned forward a little to adjust the seat.

“I hope you have come to give me good news” He asked immediately after I settled down.

“Ugh!” Oh jeez, he thinks I have come to say yes to him.

Oh no, never.

“Uhm, it’s actually a request that I really hope you would grant” I pleaded.

“Say it out already. I am the boss, is there anything I cannot do? for you?”

I smiled a little then continued freely:

“I have come to request for a leave of absence” I said, slowly sliding the neatly folded letter on the table towards him

“A leave of absence ?” He was astonished.

He unfolded the paper and skimmed through it then he dropped it and faced me squarely; “Why do you want an absent leave?” He inquired.

“Er.. uh it’s kinda personal” I briefly told him.

“Are you sick?” He panicked and leaned forward again to touch my forehead.

I shook my head; “No, I am okay” I answered.

He looked at me, doubtfully and read through the letter again.

“It is my first time leaving work actually, so you ought to grant me this leave” I said.

“Yeah Rita. But there is always a reason for requesting for an absent leave. Why do you want this leave of absence?” He asked again.

“I swear, I have got a reason but it’s really personal. Probably when I am back to work and it is all settled, I will let you know”

Finn didn’t say anything for a while.

“Pretty please” I rubbed my palms together and squinted my eyes in a cold romantic way.

“Please Mr Finn, I … I mean Finn, please do this for a friend” I leaned forward, stretched my hand, managed to hold his, then gave it a light squeeze.

Like Mrs Janet Johnson has said, physical touch is another way to a man’s heart. Most especially Finn, he is in love with me, he has no choice but to do whatever makes me happy.

“Okay, Approved” Finn finally said after a while.

“Oh My God, thank you so much”

“As you have written in your letter, it is only for two weeks! I wonder what you would be doing for two weeks” He asked again stylishly but all I did was smile.

“Thank you so much Finn. I won’t be at work tomorrow, I will resume back to work next over-week” I made it clear to him.

He nodded in affirmation then I stood up to take my leave.

“Uhm Rita” He called my name after I’ve taken few steps away from him, almost at the door.

“I will miss you so much” He said.

What was I suppose to say?

Of course, I won’t miss him too; Infact he will be the least of my worries.

“My pleasure ” I responded, smiling.

” You know… I.. I actually thought you were gonna say Yes to me but it’s fine, I won’t force you anymore. I will continue to love you and be good to you even if you won’t date me; it’s fine” He said, placing his head on his left chest (heart), he sniffed, fighting back the tears clouded in his eyes.

“So I will take my leave now” I bowed my head a little in respect and left his office
