From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent (Anthea )

Chapter 409

Abbey was accused of daydreaming.

"Daydreaming or not, the proof will be in the pudding!" she declared resolutely.

With that, Abbey grabbed her stuff and left without looking back.

Watching her leave, Susie scoffed under her breath.

Tanya only had three months left.

She was curious to see how long Abbey could keep up her charade!

...

The next day, Anthea paid a visit to the hospital, and for the following days, she secluded herself at home.

Her door shut, she was entirely engrossed in concocting her potion.

This time, her desk was littered with all sorts of lab equipment and medical tools.

Before long, she held two glass tubes filled with a blue liquid.

"It worked!" Anthea exhaled deeply, removed her latex gloves, grabbed her black backpack, and headed to the hospital. Having coordinated with Abbey in advance, Anthea saw her waiting at the entrance as soon as she arrived.

"Ms. Yeager!" Abbey greeted her eagerly.

Initially, Abbey was skeptical about Anthea's capabilities. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

But after spending a few days together, her doubts had vanished.

Anthea might be young, but she was undoubtedly talented!

Abbey was convinced Anthea was going to surprise everyone.

Anthea nodded, "Is the lab all set?"

"Yes, it is."

Anthea handed a tube of the potion to Abbey, "Take this for analysis. Check if it contains the components I've listed."

"Sure thing. Let me show you to the lab."

The lab was fully equipped.

Anthea donned a sterile suit and began refining the potion.

Abbey, carrying the potion, went to another lab for testing.

Five hours later, Anthea emerged from the lab.

Abbey, also in a sterile suit, met her outside, "Ms. Yeager, the analysis is clear. No issues."

Anthea nodded, "Then we can proceed with Tanya. Keep a close eye on her tonight, make a record every half hour."

"Will do."

Anthea, now in patient's quarters, saw Karan chatting with Tanya.

Seeing Anthea, Tanya lit up, "Annie."

"Tanya," Anthea smiled. "I've got

great news the cancer-fighting

potion is ready. You'll start

treatment tonight, and if all goes. well, we can operate in a week. You could be discharged in a fortnight."

"Really?" Joy spread across Tanya's face.

Karan stood up, equally excited.

Anthea nodded.

Tanya hugged Anthea, overwhelmed, "Thank you, Annie."

It felt like a ray of hope after days of darkness.

Releasing Anthea, Tanya shared the news with the other patients.

An elderly gentleman named Mr. Sullivan raised his hand, "Count me in, young lady."

"I'll pass," said the middle-aged woman in the next bed. At fifty-something, she wasn't ready to give up on life just yet.

Anthea seemed too young, too inexperienced for her to trust.

"I'll pass too," echoed a young mother from the far bed, her bald head testament to her chemotherapy.

Despite her frailty, she clung to life, hoping to return to her 8-year-old daughter.

"Include me," spoke the quiet

woman in the bed next to Tanya, her

thin frame barely making a dent in the bedding. She spent most days staring out the window, lost in thought.

"Alright," Tanya nodded, tallying up the participants for Abbey.

Soon after, Abbey and a nurse wheeled in the treatment, a potion to be administered intravenously, not orally.

"Ms. Yeager, we're ready to begin."

Anthea gave the go-ahead.

As the nurses prepped the volunteers, the two who declined hovered close, their curiosity piqued.

"Why's the potion green?"

"Can this really work?"

"Hiram, maybe you shouldn't," one of the skeptics muttered, the unspoken fear hanging in the air - the fear of losing what little hope they had left.
