“You knew?” I turned to him and asked. He nodded, continuing to cat calmly.

His lack of concern about my reaction concerned me. He was acting completely different today. There was no explanation from him about why he accepted his son dating her.

“I think it will be okay,” Lord Atwood finally said, “since you’ll mostly be staying with Brody from now on.”

My jaw dropped as I heard him talk about me living with Brody as if I was already moving out of the mansion. This was not his normal reaction. He used to spoil me, take my side but now he was a different

man.

“Oh, right,” I leaned back, observing their faces before standing up and walking out of the room. I noticed that Lord Atwood didn’t ask me to finish my breakfast either. Something had changed in him.

As I made my way upstairs, I spotted Galinda sitting on the staircase, sobbing softly. They had asked her to go home and rest, to deal with her grief and not worry about her job.
