I felt like a fool as I stood under the water and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I wasn’t dating Brody for the sake of love or having a future with him. And he knew that too. “April was worried; she heard some growls outside her mansion.” He didn’t even let me ask who he was talking to. It felt like he was doing it

on purpose.

I couldn’t take my eyes off him, yet he didn’t get the hint. “She is also shaken up,” he added, then shoved his phone into his pocket.

“What we did what did it mean for us?” I pointed toward the bed, a heavy sigh escaping my lips as I asked him.

I watched his chest swell and then return to normal before he answered, “It shouldn’t change anything.”

“I’ll head back to my room now. And stop letting your wolf out and going into the woods. It’s not safe out there,” his knowledge of my outings in the woods with Akira unsettled me.

He didn’t linger and left soon afterward. After showering and slipping into a brown shirt and blue jeans, I joined them for breakfast.

Ryker was the only one absent. I assumed he must be taking a nap after staying awake the whole night and crushing my hopes after having fun.

“I’m so sorry for what happened last night,” Silas started the conversation, referring to the events at the ball.

“I feel terrible for Galinda. No mother should have to see her daughter in that state,” Cain mumbled with a shake of his head..

“Let’s not dwell on it and upset ourselves further,” Nash commented, but I noticed Lord Atwood glancing his way. Was he still upset with him?

“I need to ask permission from you, and I always will. Brody just showed me the place. I didn’t visit him or anything. If I were to stay with him in his apartment, he would ask for your permission first.” I clarified, assuring them that I wouldn’t act recklessly now that I had the keys to Brody’s apartment.

Lord Atwood seemed satisfied with my response, but the brothers‘ reactions were disturbing.
