Flora chuckled and got up from him, moving to sit by the car window on the opposite side, savoring Connor's expression.
Connor rubbed his temples, feeling the changes in his body, unable to put the sensation into words. He had always been restrained, but with Flora, a look, a word, or a gesture from her could stir something deep within him. Sometimes, he felt quite beastly.
Just then, Connor's phone rang. As soon as he answered, Ray's anxious voice came through: "Connor, is Flora with you?"
"Yes, what's going on?"
"You need to get to Aisha's place right away, she suddenly fainted!"
"Alright."
Connor's expression turned serious. He ended the call and asked Moss to drive them to the Green residence. Ray's voice had been so loud and urgent that Flora heard it too. She realized it had been several months since she last saw Aisha. Connor had mentioned that Aisha had gone back to Maple Grove.
Half an hour later, Connor and Flora arrived at the Green residence. Connor rang the doorbell.
"There you are!" Ray said, opening the door with an anxious look on his face. "Aisha's upstairs, come on, follow me."
Upstairs, in the master bedroom, Flora followed Ray and saw Aisha lying on the bed. Her complexion was sickly pale, with dark circles under her eyes, clearly lacking rest. Flora conducted a thorough examination.
An anxious Ray asked, "How is she?"
"Nothing too serious, just overly tired and not resting well, which caused her to faint."
"But this isn't the first time; she often faints. What do we do?"
"I've checked her, and physically she's fine, just too tired and stressed, which her body couldn't handle, leading to fainting," Flora explained. "But frequent fainting needs attention. She needs to rest properly and consume more nutritious foods."
During the conversation, Aisha slowly woke up. Seeing Connor and Flora, she thought she was hallucinating.
"Why are you here?" Her voice was hoarse from just waking up.
"Ray called us over," Flora replied.
"Thank you for coming," Aisha smiled weakly. "I heard you were the top scholar in the country this year and got into the University of Maple Grove. Congratulations."
"Flora, could you repeat what you just said to her? So some people don't die without knowing why."
Ray was irritated just thinking about it. He constantly reminded her to rest well, yet she would read materials until late at night, sleeping only two to three hours a day. How could her body not suffer? He cared too much about Aisha, but his words were rather harsh, almost hurtful.
Aisha frowned.
"Aisha, your situation is indeed not good. I heard from Ray that you often faint, and it's not okay to continue like this; you need to rest."
Aisha chuckled: "Don't listen to him; it's not that serious."
"Will you only realize how serious it is when you can't get up one day?"
"Either stay here quietly or leave."
Aisha gave him a cold look, her words sharp as if putting on a show.
Ray's face also turned cold, his jaw clenched. "Do you think I enjoy staying here?"
