Chapter 358
“You really knocked it out of the park on your final assessment, reaching the level needed for the National Military Base. Have you ever thought about joining?” Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“No”
Flora didn’t even hesitate.
Kurt was taken aback; he hadn’t expected her to decline so quickly.
He paused, then continued, “Flora, your talent is incredible. At the University of Maple Grove, you won’t be able to reach your full potential. The National Military Base has the most advanced equipment and top–notch professionals. I hate to see such talent go to waste, and I can’t stand the thought of our country losing such a promising asset. That’s why I personally came to the University of Maple Grove to invite you.”
“Don’t you want to win gold for your country one day, to see your national flag raised in your honor on the victory podium, admired by other nations? Trust me, you won’t regret this decision.”
“Sorry, I’m really not interested.”
Kurt tried hard to convince her, but Flora stood her ground.
Kurt found himself at a loss for words as he gazed into her clear, determined eyes.
She was a girl with strong convictions, not easily swayed by a few persuasive words.
“Here’s my card. Think it over, and if you change your mind, give me a call. I’ll arrange for someone to pick you up.” Kurt’s tone was almost pleading. “You could also come by and check out the place; you might change your mind.”
Flora smiled, took the card, and tucked it into her pocket.
Mr. Richard was visibly relieved.
He had been genuinely worried that Flora might go with Kurt.
His expression softened as he looked at Flora. “Flora, tomorrow is the opening ceremony, and we need a freshman representative to give a speech. All the teachers agree you’re the perfect choice.”
Honestly, there wasn’t anyone else who could fit the role as well as Flora.
Another speech…
Flora frowned, “Mr. Garcia, maybe you should find someone else. I don’t think I’m the right person for this.”
“What’s there to think about? It’s simple.”

Mr. Richard cheerfully pulled a speech from his drawer and handed it to Flora. Just get familiar with this, and read it when the time comes.”
Returning to her dorm, Flora saw Eilies and Cynthia just coming back with books.
With Jillian unable to move around easily and Flora absent, they had helped bring back their books as well.
“Flora, what did Mr. Garcia want with you?” Cynthia asked, curious.
“The consul from the National Military Base wanted to recruit me, and Mr. Garcia asked me about it, Flora explained slowly. “But I turned it down.”
Jillian, who had been half–lying down listening to music, paused her playlist.
The music quieted down as she turned slightly to look at Flora.
“You turned it down?!”
Cynthia’s eyes widened in shock, leaving her speechless for a moment.
So many people dreamed of entering the National Military Base, and Flora just turned down the opportunity…
Indeed, the truly talented often have different priorities.
What others yearn for, the truly talented might not even consider.
Feeling a bit downhearted, Cynthia dropped the topic and glanced at what Flora was holding.
“What’s that?”
“It’s the speech for the freshman representative at the opening ceremony.” Flora placed the speech on the table and picked up a cup of water to drink.
To Cynthia, it wasn’t surprising that Flora was chosen as the freshman representative.
It would have been strange if someone as talented as Flora wasn’t chosen!
She and Eilies excitedly started picking out clothes for the next day’s opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was a big deal, deserving of the utmost attention.
After a shower, Flora returned to her bed to rest
