Chapter 28:I can’t sleep even when the lights are on.
Severo smiled inexplicably, “Oh, so you weren’t thinking of me.
“…” Embarrassment spread across Allyce’s face. She wanted to crawl into a hole and hide there. Had she just been tricked by him into revealing her thoughts?
I couldn’t let him win. Suddenly, she looked at him, her eyes shining. Actually … I was thinking of you.
“About me what?” Severo raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“I was thinking of … Why a big man like you is afraid of the dark.” Allyce looked at him provocatively with a huge grin.
Severo’s expression darkened as his smile faded. allyce thought he must be fuming with anger.
“It’s late. I’m going to take a shower.” Allyce blinked innocently, bent her knees slightly and slipped under his outstretched arm.
Closing the bathroom door, Allyce was still smiling; the satisfaction of seeing Severo’s frustration overcame everything.
Severo looked at the closed bathroom door and his expression relaxed slightly.
…
When Allyce came out of the bathroom, she found Severo sitting on the sofa watching television. He was watching a daily soap opera; like many other soap operas, it was about a family where the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were arguing.
If I hadn’t lived with him for a while and didn’t know him well, I wouldn’t have taken him for a real man, because his current behaviour was not particularly manly.
Hearing a movement behind him, Severo said, without even turning his head: “Have you finished bathing?
Allyce, who was busy admiring her duality, let out an uncomfortable “mmm” before turning and jumping into bed, pulling the covers over her.
A moment later, the sound of the television went off and he could hear the water running in the bathroom.
Allyce closed her eyes, but she wasn’t sleepy at all.
After a while, the sound of the water in the bathroom stops. Suddenly, someone tugs at her duvet. She reflexively grabs it, but the man persists.
He pushed Allyce’s blankets away from her face. She sat up angrily, “Severo, don’t you have …?”
Seeing the hairdryer in Severo’s hand, he swallowed the rest of his words.
Severo didn’t seem to notice the anger in his tone. He said softly: “Dry your hair before you go to bed. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Seeing that she was not angry, Allyce turned her head uneasily.
Severo didn’t give her a chance to refuse. He just plugged in the hairdryer and patted the side of the bed: “Come on! Lie down here and let your hair hang over the edge of the bed”.
Seeing the expression on his face, Allyce could not speak. She obeyed his words and lay down on the edge.
As his large hands gently ran through her hair, a strange sensation came over her. Nervously, she wrapped her arms around the sheets.
Severo sat on the bed and every time she looked up her gaze fell on his face, making her feel nervous. She tried to look anywhere but at him.
When she dried her hair, she was already dozing.
The sound of the hairdryer died in his ears when Severo turned it off, but he didn’t get up to leave.
Allyce raised her eyes and looked directly into Severo’s deep eyes; her face suddenly began to burn. She followed his gaze and her eyes fell on his shirt, where a few buttons were still undone and the shirt was slightly open.
Just as she was about to start cursing, Severo suddenly came up to her and kissed her on the forehead: “Go to sleep”.
Allyce’s whole body froze. The place she kissed seemed to burn, as if it were on fire.
Even when Severo put the hairdryer away and went back to bed, Allyce’s face was still burning.
He saw Severo reach out a hand to turn off the lamp on the bedside table and, knowing that he was actually afraid of the dark, he stopped him with a low voice: “It’s all right if you leave it on.
Severo paused for a moment and then reached out to turn off the light. allyce couldn’t see his expression in the darkness, only hear his cadenced voice flowing like water. I just couldn’t get used to the sudden darkness that day, that’s all. Besides, you can’t sleep with the light on”.
He knew what she was thinking.
All this time, she had thought he was angry because she had teased him about being afraid of the dark. Now that he said it so nicely, did that mean he was no longer angry?
Allyce asked shyly: “Have you been busy lately?
In response, she was met with silence, and Allyce regretted asking the question. Would Severo mock her if he knew she wanted to ask him why he had come home so late yesterday?
After a while, she heard him say quietly, “Yesterday, work was a bit busy and I had to leave early, so I didn’t have time to prepare breakfast, so I came back late. I should have told you in advance, but I didn’t expect you to wait for me.
Allyce heard the last sentence; it didn’t feel right”. Who was waiting for you? I fell asleep watching TV”.
Severo seemed to have confirmed that she was waiting for him. He said solemnly: “Well, if I’m late again, I’ll be sure to tell you so you don’t have to wait for me.
“…”
At a loss for words, Allyce didn’t know why, but a strange sweetness suddenly filled her heart.
…
Senona was away on business. Allyce’s time in the office passed quite quietly. During this time, she went to two dinners and nothing happened.
The following week, however, Senona returned and Allyce knew that the peace in her life was coming to an end.
It happened to be Friday. It was almost time to leave work and Lucila approached me mysteriously: “Let’s go out after work”.
Allyce, still busy with her work, asked without looking up: “Where are we going?
Lucila gave him a satisfied smile: “You’ll know when we get there”.
After work, Allyce was dragged off by Lucila; Severo had been too busy lately to pick her up.
It was the end of summer; the days were getting smaller.
When they got out of the car, it was dark.
“This is it. Today I will teach you how to have fun.
Lucila dragged Allyce towards the club on the run. Allyce didn’t even get a chance to see the name of the club.
When they entered the bar, they found it full of people.
Lucila ordered two beers and pulled Allyce onto the dance floor.
Allyce is not the kind of person who likes to go clubbing. Even when she was abroad, she rarely went to clubs. Besides, the bars abroad were different from those in Cloud City. He hesitated to say something, “Lucila ….. . Lucila…”
Lucila quickly interrupted her: “You’re always busy with work and you never go out to relax, besides, I don’t think we can count on that husband of yours. Relax, relax! You don’t always have to follow the rules.
Finally, Allyce still didn’t get onto the dance floor. Instead, she found an empty table and sat down for a drink. As soon as she sat down, she heard an unfamiliar voice: “This way, Mr. Nuncio.
Allyce froze in place – how was it possible, did she have to run into him every time she went out to the bar?
He looked up and saw a group of people and Richie.
walking together. The music in the bar was so loud I couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Allyce thought for a moment and got up to go to Lucila, but as soon as she did, her eyes fell in the direction Richie was looking at her.
