Chapter 27: You can watch me when we get home
“I’ve got a lot more than guts …”
Allyce realised what she had just said only when she finished. Lucila looked at her in surprise: “Where did you learn that?
Then he looked up and out of the transparent French window; his eyes fell on the Rolls Royce. In a voice full of mockery, he said: “You learned it from him?
Allyce knew she was talking about Severo. What was going on between her and Severo was too complicated to explain to Lucila. She felt her face heat up, “What? No, it’s not like that.”
Lucila looked at the discomfort on Allyce’s face, she didn’t believe her. she folded her arms and looked at Allyce with a cocked head, “I’m giving you a chance to earn my forgiveness for now. Unless, of course, you don’t want to. After all, I suppose someone who left this country without a word never thought of me as a friend.”
Lucila finished and turned to look out of the window, looking a little disappointed.
Allyce thought back and hesitated, but she didn’t want to lose her only real friend either.
“We got married, but…”
Allyce briefly explained what had happened since her return to Cloud City.
After hearing this, Lucila picked up the cold coffee in front of her and gulped it down in one gulp while smiling expressionlessly: “That little bitch Senona! And your grandfather, he …”
Allyce shook her head. There was nothing she could say about Casimir and Senona.
…
When they left the cafeteria it was dark and still raining.
Allyce looked at Lucila with slight concern: “We’ll take you home.
Lucila didn’t want to disturb Allyce and waved her hand: “It’s late. I have to go to work tomorrow. I live nearby. I’ll take a taxi. It’s raining a lot, you might as well hurry home. Bye.
Lucila was spontaneous, a bit fiery, she didn’t like to drag things out; just at that moment a taxi approached them and Lucila immediately stopped the car, got in and drove off.
Allyce doesn’t even have a chance to stop her. When she reacted, Severo was already approaching her with an umbrella. In a low voice he said, “Let’s go.
Allyce was in a very good mood because she had finally seen her friend again and would have spent more time with Lucila if it hadn’t been so late. Although they didn’t really talk about the last few years, it was very comforting to be together. That was what true friendship was all about.
Allyce looked at Lucila where she had just been and said absently, “Hmm”.
Then Severo gently dragged her to a parking space.
In the car, Allyce was still deep in happy thoughts, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly in a faint smile, her eyes sparkling.
Severo got into the car and stared at her, a little surprised. In the short time he had spent with Allyce, he had never seen her so happy.
“Best friend?” asked Severo as he bent down to fasten it.
Allyce forgot for a moment about the little confrontation with Severo, smiled and said: “Yes …”.
Severus looked at her sincere smile and his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He straightened slightly and moved closer to Allyce, cupping her chin with one hand and dropping a soft kiss on her lips.
Allyce’s smile turned to surprise and her eyes widened, “You … What are you doing?”
“All right! How about I take you out to dinner?” Severo smiled like a child and reached out, giving his hand a gentle squeeze on his cheek.
Allyce turned her head away from his hand in embarrassment, “I … don’t care.”
Do you think she’s still angry about yesterday and wants to invite you to dinner? It wasn’t going to be that easy.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
Severo turned the keys under the steering wheel and started the car, a smile on his face as he said, “I care”.
Suddenly, Allyce looked back at Severo, who, she had to admit, was very handsome. Of all the people she’d met so far, she’d hardly seen anyone more handsome than him.
When he wasn’t smiling, he seemed cold and distant. Even when he did nothing, he couldn’t help but feel distant.
This is how Allyce feels right now.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Severo, who had been waiting a long time for her answer, turned his head to look at her. His eyes glittered and the corners of his mouth turned up in a mocking smile.” Why are you looking at me like that? Haven’t you seen enough of my face every day?”
When he smiled, the distance dissipated a little, but it lingered slightly. If all his previous actions had led Allyce to believe that he liked her and that that was the only reason he was doing what he was doing, now she was a little suspicious.
Allyce stared at him for a moment and then turned to look out of the window without speaking.
Severo saw her reaction and a deep thought flashed in his eyes, but the smile on his face didn’t change. You can look at me when we get home, all you want. Now, let’s eat.
…
It was ten o’clock when they left the restaurant and it was still raining.
A gust of wind was blowing; Allyce, in her sleeveless dress, felt cold and pale as she hugged herself. Suddenly, she felt a warmth at her shoulder.
He turns his head and sees Severo, wearing a long-sleeved black shirt with folded cuffs, revealing smooth arms. He looked majestic.
He held an umbrella in one hand and pressed a button with his thumb to open it over their heads. He reaches out his other hand, wraps it around Allyce’s shoulders and pulls her close; in his lilting voice he says, “Let’s go”.
Allyce, thin and much shorter than him, was almost lost in his embrace. His broad chest made her feel protected.
The idea surprised her slightly.
When she looked up at him, she saw his other shoulder drenched by the rain. She realised that he had tilted most of the umbrella towards her.
Such a delicate gesture dispelled all her doubts about him and his feelings.
She was a complete mess, not even accepted or liked by her own family. Although she knew she was beautiful in the traditional sense, there were many beautiful women. She finds no other reason for Severo to be so nice to her other than the fact that he likes her.
On the way home, Allyce kept thinking about this.
“Were there drugs in the food at that restaurant? You were in a trance the whole way. We’re home now, but …”
Severo’s voice brought Allyce back to reality.
“I’m going to take a shower first.” Not wanting to understand or speak again, Allyce opened the wardrobe door and tried to pull out her clothes.
As soon as he opened the cupboard, Severo bumped into it again. Allyce was startled by his sudden movement and leaned against the cupboard in shock.
Severo’s hands were raised on Allyce’s shoulders and pressed firmly against the cabinet, holding her between him and the cabinet so as not to let her escape, his eyes dark. He was looking deep into her, as if he could see right through her. Tell me! What were you thinking? What were you thinking …”
A surprised Allyce didn’t let him finish and quickly denied: “I wasn’t thinking about you.
