Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Emma refused to acknowledge their relationship, but Bruce did not care. He was the head of the Woland Group anyway, and women were lining up for him. Had it not been for Emma’s gentle words and his plan to get his hands on the Woland Group, he would have dumped her early on.
Who does she think she is?
“Emma, does that mean you’re into Mr. Oswald? You went traveling with him two days ago. I bet you like him.” Before Emma could leave, she heard Alice dropping another bombshell. Alice raised her voice more, and her words rang aloud in the exceptionally quiet hall. The guests must have heard her.
Bruce’s face hardened as he quickly shot a venomous glance at Emma. Did that shameless b*tch flirt with other men while she was seeing me?
The guests were shocked as they glanced toward Oliver Oswald, who was sitting not far away, for he was one of the only few family members at the event. Oliver, who heard his name, was staring at Emma, waiting for her answer.
She froze up, and knowing she should not confirm her relationship with Oliver, she tried to muddle through. “Alice, that’s nonsense.”
“Oh, did I get that wrong again? Is he only a friend?” Alice looked enlightened as she replied with her raised voice, but her tone suggested something else.
Emma clenched her jaw but said nothing, knowing she would only make more blunders if she spoke up. However, her silence was akin to admission in the eyes of the public.
Oliver looked amused as his gaze swept past Emma. He did not say a word, but his face revealed his disdain and disgust for her.
By then, Emma was seething in hatred, but considering that Oliver was not her first choice, she let go of the relationship without much regret. However, Alice’s next remark threw her off balance.
“Could it be Mr. Dunn? Mr. McKay? Or Mr. Gunther? Or…” Alice frowned while she counted the guys’ names with her fingers. She had a clear idea about the number of boyfriends Emma kept over the years. The men, whose names were brought up, looked startled as they gave Emma looks. Not only were they judging her, but the guests in the hall were also viewing her differently.
“What nonsense was that?” Emma panicked for real and gave up on maintaining her gentle and ladylike image. She raised her voice at Alice, sounding furious and mean.
“Gosh, Emma is panicking.” Irvin beamed cheerfully at the scene. “Looks like Alice has a lot of intel.” He belatedly added, “Oh, but how did she get that information?”
“She knows a lot, indeed.” Ethan smiled. No one could keep secrets from his Little Fox if she wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Alice went to Cliaria seven years ago and had only been back for ten days or so, yet she immediately got hold of all the information on Emma. The public did not know about Emma’s dirt—not even the men she cheated on. However, Alice managed to learn about all the details. His Little Fox was far from dumb because she was exceptionally shrewd.
“Did I say something wrong? I’m sorry! I just couldn’t figure out who’s the one you like.” Alice pursed her lips and lowered her voice in a timid and aggrieved manner. “But I saw Mr. McKay sending you home at 1.00AM two days ago. He gave you a bunch of roses, and you smiled happily at him.”
1.00AM? That was material for gossip!
Meanwhile, Mr. McKay looked a little glum. The observant guests learned that Alice must have spoken the truth from his response.
Emma’s eyes wavered. She looked at Alice, feeling spooked out. How did she learn all of that? How?
Alice furrowed her brows and fell into deep thoughts. She added, “Three days ago, I saw Mr. Dunn…”
At that point, Emma was trembling violently from anger with a wild expression. She could not wrap her head around Alice’s exceptional intel, given that she managed to hide her affairs well from all the men she went out with.
The people in the hall started whispering things about Emma, and they were unkind remarks. At the same time, Amelia entered the hall. Shocked at the turn of events, she had the urge to tear Alice apart. That ugly c*nt is a troublemaker!
They had attempted multiple assassinations on Alice, but all failed. Even though Amelia was not Emma’s mother, she still hoped for Emma to marry into a good family, which would benefit the Wolands in the end. Therefore, she would not have it when Alice tried to ruin Emma’s good name.
“Alice, you look upset. What is it? Come here, tell me about it.” Amelia put on a warm and polite smile as she gently addressed Alice. She was merely cutting Alice off to stop the latter from babbling.
“Oh!” Alice spun around, looking surprised to see her aunt. She covered her mouth with her hand and nodded. “Aunt Amelia, I got it. I shouldn’t be saying these out loud in the public.”
Amelia choked on anger, feeling incredibly frustrated at Alice’s attack.
“Aunt Amelia, don’t you worry. I won’t go on about the other men Emma has been seeing.” Alice nodded with a serious look as she made a promise.
In reality, she only knew Emma’s relationships with the three men she pointed out just now. She would run out of names if she was prompted to say more. However, she had done enough damage to Emma, and her vague final remark would only mislead the onlookers.
In the meantime, Amelia almost got a stroke from anger. She did not expect things to worsen after she showed up to stop her.
“Alice, I know this is your grandpa’s birthday event, but he said we should choose a nice suitor for your marriage at the event. Do you have eyes for anyone here?” Amelia thought the best way to shift the attention was to bring up a new topic.
Of course, her question was intended to shame Alice.
“Yes,” Alice replied boldly with a soft smile. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Suddenly, all eyes were on her.
“Oh! Is that so? Is Alice interested in someone?” Irvin stole a glance at Ethan with a cheeky grin.
