Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 116

Kaia POV

"Any movement on the borders?" I command through the pack link to the guards on border duty, opening the link up to Father whose eyes find me amongst the noisy party crowd.

The music was now in full swing, alcohol starting to flow freely and the hog roasting nicely.

I

"Nothing Luna..." 6 of the 8 posts reply, but I wasn't getting any response from posts 1 and 2, which were based North and North East of the pack grounds.

"What of pack 1 and 2, they aren't responding. Post 7 and 3 send one man out each to check." I command.

""Yes Luna.."This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

"Kaia? What's going on?" Father joins me.

"I don't know Father, something doesn't feel right and I can't get hold of posts 1 and 2."

"Kaia, Beckett...whats the matter?" Alora comes over to me also as she sees mine and Father's concerned exchange.

"Nothing dear, go back to the celebrations... Samson, dance with my daughter." Father demands, Alora's eyes widening as she looks at me for help.

For some reason her and Samson have a tension between them. I think it just comes down to Samson being protective of Father and I, from being of our old pack and adjusting to another alpha's daughter.

I know what Alora's reason is, she sees how close Samson is to me. I think to her, she finds it hard to *believe I would be with anyone but a mate. Not that I am with him, not yet.

Well, I've lucked out of mates, if I want a mate in the future my options would be chosen. But I am talking years away, I would have to be certain my chosen mate had no fated mate still alive...I couldn't do that to somebody. Not somebody I would spend my life with. Or the Innocent soul.

If I did choose Samson and he did have a fated mate, I couldn't do that to her...not having been rejected myself.

"I had promised Kaia the first dance." Samson was as bad as Alora, they'll need to sort out their differences soon enough, a dance together would be the perfect situation. "That's okay Samson, I think it would do you both some good...also I need to check something out." I reply playfully before witnessing Father's change in posture. Father suddenly gives out an almighty growl, a growl I have heard too many times.

I'll never be prepared for it or those bells to start ringing. The attack alarms blaring out. They reach my ears before the guards start pushing back on my mind link. "Alpha, Luna...attack." The guard just finishes before Father growls out again, another pack death I

presume.

"Attack! Get to the borders.." Father commands out, his aura turning from that of jubilant only a few seconds ago to now dark and intense. Thick and heavy, even outside it weighs heavily on me.

"They're already here." A high pitched scream calls out as intruders start to come through the pack's inner treeline, running straight towards us.

"Get to shelter!" I order out, starting to grab the hands of children as they scream from fear.

Fighters already here race towards the attackers but I also need warriors at the borders to stop more getting in. Samson joins the ones looking to take out the immediate threat.

"Get to the borders, take them out...don't let them get any closer." I roar out as I prepare to run to the borders where the main attack was taking place. Men and woman already racing, leaving their younger children in tears as their older siblings try to comfort them. The parents fight to defend the borders. If the attackers make into the inner pack grounds, no one will survive...not even the children. They want us gone, they want the land back.

"No Father

I round on Father as he heads to the borders.

"Kaia, I am the Alpha.."

"Father, you can not be serious....Children, come..come to the Alpha house... the Alpha will guard you...as will Alora."

"What, no Kaia I can fight." Alora argues back, just as Father does.

"Here children.." I make them huddle around Alora, the littlest grabbing hold of her hand.

"Take them and keep them safe in the alpha house, their parent's will fight better knowing they are safe.." "Kaia I am trained to fight." I'm sure she is but without a wolf, she is no use. She'll be dead in seconds and Father will take too long to get to the battle. "Go inside both of you, that's an order..." I let my Luna aura roll off me onto Alora, it wont work on Father and it shouldn't particularly work on Alora but where she is weak it does.

I can't worry about their safety, I need to get to the borders and defend our people as best as we can.

As soon as they follow my orders and hastily gather the children and head for the alpha house, I start to sprint towards the borders, shifting mid-way to increase my speed as I yet again, race towards the throes of a battle. Ebony Woods
