Chapter 38 I’m Mrs. Martin

A silence fell over the office. Immediately, the crowd burst into laughter.

“Hahaha, Betty, you’re so funny. I can’t believe you would say you are Kerwin’s wife!”

Betty looked at them and also laughed. Finally, she was relaxed. Surely, it was easier to get around

the subject by jokingly admitting it.

But she had to pretend to be unhappy with her colleagues’ reactions. “What are you guys laughing at? Why don’t you guys believe me? Am I not capable?” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

“Betty, you’re very capable,” said Sarah, who laughed until tears came to her eyes. “It’s just that

this is Kerwin, who is so different from us. There’s no way he’s going to have any contact with us.”

Betty pursed her lips and smiled faintly. She had to admit that what Sarah said was true. She and Kerwin were very different, but by mistake, the two of them became the closest.

Even though the ring doesn’t match Kerwin, he is wearing it, isn’t he? Thinking of this, Betty felt better. She patted Sarah’s shoulder gently. “Okay, go get busy.”

“The layout has revised already. We just need to wait for the printing,” said Sarah.

The day’s work was basically done. Betty sat in her seat, bored. She got on her Twitter account.

Suddenly, her attention was drawn to the No. 1 trending topic with the hashtag “Kerwin’s wedding ring”.

The ring can get very hot after the awards ceremony. Looks like people are very interested in celebrity gossip. She thought.

Betty clicked in out of curiosity and saw the comments of a group of girls who adored Kerwin.

“Mr. Martin is a perfect husband that a woman might meet once in a hundred years. I don’t love

other men, I just love him!”

“Who the hell is Mrs. Martin?”

“This ring type is xxx. I bought the same one! Hahaha, the same model of Mr. Martin! I feel that this

one will definitely sell out.”

Betty was speechless when she saw the comments of this group of women. When she saw another

comment, she suddenly froze.

“Mr. Martin now loves another woman. How will his ex-girlfriend feel when she knows this in heaven?”

Ex-girlfriend? In heaven?

Betty was immediately curious about the person, but she didn’t have time to see who it was before the person deleted the comment.

Betty felt a little puzzled. Before she could think about it, her phone suddenly vibrated. It was a

message from Kerwin.

Betty hurried to check it.

“I’ll be home at six tonight. Let’s have dinner together.”

Betty couldn’t understand why she smiled lightly when she saw this message from Kerwin.

She even forgot about the awkward things that had happened between them before Kerwin left and just looked forward to seeing Kerwin when she got home today.

Finally, it was time to leave work. Betty took her bag and went to take a taxi home.

When she got back to the villa and pushed the door in, Betty saw a familiar figure sitting in a wheelchair. She suddenly felt very happy.

“Kerwin,” she called out as she took off her shoes, walking into the living room.

Kerwin turned his head and looked at her.

He still looked so handsome. In the morning, she saw him on the computer screen. Now that he was right in front of her, Betty felt unreal.

Finally, Kerwin felt relieved when he saw her.

Before he texted her, she did not reply. He thought she still didn’t want to have dinner with him because of what happened that night.

Although he felt delighted, Kerwin still behaved calmly. “Maria has prepared the meal. We can have dinner now.”

Betty was looking forward to Kerwin’s return before she saw him. But now he came back, Betty remembered the unpleasantness before he left. She immediately felt a little embarrassed. She just nodded her head and followed Kerwin into the dining room.

Maria and James knew that Kerwin and Betty hadn’t seen each other for a few days. So after they served the food, they left immediately.

The dining room immediately became quiet. The only sound was the clatter of knives and forks.

Finally, Betty broke the silence. “That night, I…” she hesitated.

“I’m sorry,” Kerwin said suddenly.

Betty was still wondering how to apologize to Kerwin, but he apologized to her first.

“I was impulsive that night,” said Kerwin in a low voice. By now he had finished his meal and gracefully picked up the napkin to wipe his mouth.

Betty was still in a daze. Is he apologizing to me?

“I also have done something inappropriate.” Betty replied. “I’m sorry for leaving the family dinner

that day. I’ll go make amends to your grandfather.”

When she saw Kerwin apologize to her, Betty also hurriedly expressed her regrets.

In the past few days, Betty had thought a lot about that night.

It was rude of her to leave the dinner that day, especially in front of Kerwin’s grandfather, who would regard her behavior as unruly.

Although Kerwin’s investigation into her relationship with Jeffrey made her a little uncomfortable, Kerwin wasn’t wrong. It was true that a man of his social standing couldn’t have married a woman he didn’t know well.

That night, Kerwin was on top of her, surrounding her with his mature masculinity. When she thought about it, Betty felt her face burn.

As Kerwin’s wife, Betty knew it was normal to have sex with him. But she couldn’t do it. And Kerwin

didn’t continue because she resisted in the end. So she had nothing to be angry about.

Hearing Betty’s apology, Kerwin pursed his lips and did not continue the subject.

“Betty, do you have something to ask me?” he asked suddenly.

Betty froze. Only then did she remember that many things had happened that night besides the unpleasantness between her and Kerwin.

Betty looked at the man in front of her full of doubts. For a moment, she didn’t know what to ask.

“Your leg?” said she.

She had seen Kerwin stand up that night. It was clear that his legs were not crippled.

“As you saw before,” Kerwin replied. “my legs are not crippled.”

He was not surprised that Betty would ask him about this.

“Then why are you…?”

“There are many reasons for that,” Kerwin replied curtly. “Remember you can’t tell anyone about this.”

Betty was shocked. She understood that Kerwin had a reason to disguise himself as a cripple. Since Kerwin would not let her ask more about it, she would keep her mouth shut.

She nodded her head.

Kerwin looked at Betty and was satisfied with her reaction. Suddenly he thought of something and her face darkened.

“Besides that, what else do you want to ask me?” he whispered, then added, “Or what do you want to tell me?”

Hearing him, Betty trembled slightly.
