Chapter 14
Karen POV
Staying at home, doing nothing has been the most horrible thing that ever happened to me. For these past weeks, I’ve been to Dylan’s office for like ten times, but was always told that he’s not around. I’m starting to get worried about him, I don’t know if he’s fine or not. I’m just going to give up trying anyways, not that he’s going to sign the contract. The time I was given has elapsed, so there’s no point.
Letting out a frustrating sigh, I fell on my back on the bed, while staring at the ceiling, thinking of my whole life, I don’t know of it’ll ever get any better, I lost the most precious person in my life, which is mom, now I lost my job and my colleagues, who have been my only companies after the demise of my mom, am I not a bunch of bad luck?
The sound of the knock on my door pulled my attention back to reality, and I rolled my eyes, knowing Lara is the one. Dad is not around, he has already gone to work, just I and Lara at home, God! She’s so going to frustrate me today.
“Go away Lara, I don’t want to be disturbed.” I breathed out with an eye roll.
“Ma’am you have to come downstairs for your breakfast, I’ve served it. You need to eat before it gets cold.” She said from outside, while still knocking on my door. Someone better tell this girl to leave me alone, I’m not in the mood to eat anything now.
“Go away Lara, I’m not hungry.” I said, getting pissed by her actions already. I just made it clear that I want to be alone, can she just please respect that fact, and leave me alone?
“You have to…” Before she could finish her statement, I sprang up from the bed, and walked angrily over to the door, before throwing it opened to see her standing there. She smiled as soon as she sight me, ok who is smiling with her right now? This girl is one of the craziest I’ve ever seen, she keep frustrating me, urgh!
“Finally!” She breathed out with an eye roll.
“What do you want Lara? I just told you I’m not hungry, ok?” I rolled my eyes, and turned around to walk back in, but she held my hand, and pulled me back gently.
“Don’t be like that ma’am, I wouldn’t be disturbing you, if master didn’t say that he’s going to make me lose my job, if you don’t eat. Look at you, you’ve lost weight, and you need to eat something, save me ma’am, I’m going to lose my job if you keep losing weight.” She faked a cry, while pleading, and I sighed frustratingly. This girl is just going to kill me before my time, well, all thanks to myself, because I brought her here, I should’ve known this from onset.
“Alright fine. After you.” I beckoned on her to go first, while I followed her from behind, but she shook her head negatively, with a smirk on her face. Wait don’t tell me she’s thinking that I’m trying to play smart on her? This girl is sure crazy.
“Whatever!” I huffef angrily, before walking ahead of her, while she followed me from behind. We walked through the hallway, till we got to the deck of the staircase, and descended down it. Stepping into the dining room, I sat down on one of the chairs, as she excused herself to go get my food. For the love of heaven, the last time I checked, I thought she said she already served the food? Oh she’s such a bunch of frustration.
She came back almost immediately with a tray, which had a closed plate on it, a bottled water, and a glass cup. She dropped it on the chair as soon as she got to me, before serving me, and damn! The aroma alone made me salivate, awakening my lost appetite. What the heck was I thinking when I said I didn’t have appetite?
“You like what you see?” She smirked, and I couldn’t help scoffing. I’m not going to compliment her, knowing that’s what she wants. She’s such a crazy girl.
I started eating carefully, while taking my time to explore the delicacy, and after what seemed like forever, I finally finished eating, and gulped down the glass of water, before standing up.
“I’ll be in my room.” I said, and with that, I headed to the staircase, and climbed it. Walking through the hallway, I stopped in front of my room, and pushed the door open, before dragging my feet in.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
My phone beeped just when I walked into the room, and I sighed softly, as I reached out to it, and unlocked it, as I was welcomed with three missed calls from Henry, Dylan’s secretary, and a message too. I couldn’t help wondering why he called me, as I clicked on the message, and it reads ‘my boss is around now, you can come over’. I threw my phone on the bed immediately after the reading the text, and dashed into the bathroom. I had a quick bath, after which I dressed up, and applied a light makeup on my face, before leaving the house, not after picking my car keys from the dresser.
Storming out of my room, I hurried through the staircase, before descending it.
“Where are you going ma’am?” Lara asked, as soon as I got to the living room.
“I’ll be back.” I said, and with that, I stride to the door, and stormed out of the house. I hopped in on my car as soon as I got to the parking lot, before driving out of the compound. Goshni think I’m losing my mind already.
After driving for what seemed like forever, I finally got to the company’s gate, which was left wide opened, and I took a deep breath, before driving in, and parked at the garage. Stepping out of the car, my heart almost popped out of my chest, at who I saw, it’s Dylan.
I gulped down the lump in my throat, and took a deep breath, before calling out his name.
“Hi Mr Dylan.” I said, trying to be confident, as I walked over to him, and he turned to look at me with a shocked expression on his face…
