CEO's Substitute Bride

Chapter 364

Chapter 364

Marilyn did not expect Emmett to say this. Her expression changed abruptly. "What do you mean?"

"If you can't even understand such simple words, Angela cannot be left to you to take care of." Emmett frowned slightly and his voice became colder.

His patience gradually disappeared.

"No matter what, I am your fiancée and Angela's biological mother. Why are you talking to me like this?" Marilyn was angered by him. She raised her voice and lost her usual calm and elegant demeanor.

She had had enough of all this. It had been three years.

Even if it was a block of ice, it should be melted by now.

But Emmett was like a rock. His attitude towards her had not changed at all.

"Firstly, Kathleen was the one who told me that you were my fiancée. It has nothing to do with me. Secondly, if you are not Angela's biological mother, do you think you can still sit here and talk to me like this?"

Emmett's tone was cold to the point of almost cruelty. He did not show any pity at all.

Marilyn's face was pale and she could not speak for a long time. She then picked up her bag and left.

She had just walked to the door when she bumped into Kathleen who had entered.

Kathleen quickly stopped her, "Marilyn? Where are you going? It’s so late. Why don't you stay here tonight?"

Marilyn cautiously looked inside and pulled Kathleen to an empty corner outside the door where nobody could see them. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Under the dim yellow street light, Kathleen saw Marilyn's red eyes and her expression changed slightly, "What happened?"

"Kathleen, I really can't stand Emmett anymore. He is simply a rock with no feelings."

Marilyn told what Emmett said just now to Kathleen.

Hearing this, Kathleen was silent.

Marilyn took a deep breath, looking quite depressed. "Back then, you should not have brought Angela back. Emmett treated her better than me!"

"Don't say that. Angela is Emmett's biological daughter." In Kathleen's heart, blood relations were very important.

Emmett did not remember what happened in the past. Kathleen thought that after she told Emmett that Marilyn was Angela's biological mother, Emmett would at least have a special feeling for Marilyn.

But she did not expect Emmett to treat Angela pretty well, but he was still so cold to Marilyn.

In the past three years, there had been no change at all.

It was precisely because of this that Kathleen deliberately released the news to the media, saying that Marilyn was Emmett's fiancée.

Although Marilyn was dissatisfied with Kathleen's statement, she did not say much. She only said somewhat tiredly, "I am a little tired today. I will go back first."

"I will ask the driver to send you back. Don’t worry. I will think of a way." Kathleen said and reached out to pat Marilyn's shoulder.

After sending Marilyn away, Kathleen went into the house.

Emmett was having dinner and beside him was a child's high dining chair. Angela was holding a small pink and blue bowl to eat fruits.

Her sharp eyes saw Kathleen walk in and called out in a childish voice. "Auntie. . ."

"Angela is eating fruit." Kathleen smiled and walked over.

Angela reached out and took a fork. She forked out a piece of watermelon and passed it to Kathleen. "Auntie, eat some."

Kathleen looked at the fruit in the bowl that Angela had forked into a pulp and did not know how much saliva was smeared on it. Kathleen was a little hesitant.

She smiled and held Angela’s chubby little hand. She passed the fruit to Angela's mouth, "Angela, eat it yourself. The more you eat, the more beautiful you will be.”

Emmett heard Kathleen's words and turned to look at her. He said in a low voice, "Angela, give Daddy a piece of apple."

Angela heard Emmett's words and her eyes lit up. She stuffed the watermelon into her mouth and accurately found an apple. She put it on her fork and passed it to Emmett's lips.

Emmett opened his mouth and ate it. "Eat the rest yourself."

Angela seemed to have received encouragement. She directly threw away the fork and grabbed the fruit with both of her hands.

Kathleen wanted to say something to stop Angela but was interrupted by Emmett. "You haven't eaten yet, right?"

"Not yet."

Emmett said casually, "Then go and eat. Don't worry about Angela."

When Kathleen entered the dining room, a maid had already taken out the cutlery and placed them opposite Emmett.

Angela quickly finished the fruit in the bowl. She pulled Emmett's sleeve and held the bowl high. "Daddy, I finished."

Before she finished the food in her mouth, her already chubby face became even rounder.

Emmett found it interesting and reached out to pinch her face.

"Ouch, what are you doing?" Angela reached out her hand to pat Emmett's hand.

Emmett withdrew his hand and a maid took a tissue to wipe the juice off the corner of Angela's mouth.

Angela was not very cooperative. Instead, she reached out her hands towards Emmett, wanting him to take her out of the children's dining chair.

"Let me do it." Emmett took the tissue from the maid’s hand and wiped the corner of Angela's mouth. He then took her out and put her on his lap. "Sit down."

It was rare for Angela to obediently sit down and not move.

Emmett continued to eat.

Kathleen looked at the interaction between the father and daughter and said with a complicated expression, "Don't spoil her too much. The child is small, don't pamper her."

Sitting on his lap, Angela was curiously studying Emmett's throat. When he ate, his Adam’s apple would move. Angela found it interesting and reached out to touch it out of curiosity.

Emmett held her hand that was causing trouble and looked down at her with warning eyes. Angela quickly leaned into his embrace and did not make a sound.

After that, Emmett raised his head and looked at Kathleen. His tone was indifferent. "How did I spoil her?"

Kathleen was choked by his words. She looked at Emmett's expressionless face and then looked at the quiet and obedient Angela in his arms. She pursed her lips and had nothing to say.

When Emmett finished his meal, he found Angela's little head was about to fall asleep like a chicken pecking rice.

He gently carried her upstairs and put her on the bed.

Just as he put her down, Angela moved her hands and mumbled in her sleep. Emmett reached out and patted her on the back. Only then did she fall asleep again.

The chubby little girl on the bed was snoring lightly, looking like a cute little pig.

Emmett remembered that when he woke up, he did not remember anything. He seemed to have never cared much about his daughter. His daughter was brought up by servants.

Until one day, when he came back from work, the little girl staggered over with her little legs and gave him a kiss.

At that time, she could not say anything properly. She just looked at him with a smile and babbled in her soft voice, “Da… da.”

Perhaps this was the magic of blood.

He did not remember how he was with Marilyn in the past and did not have a good impression of Marilyn. But he felt that Angela was very important to him.

It was as if a hidden voice in his heart was saying that, Angela had a deep meaning in his life.

After confirming that Angela was asleep, Emmett quietly closed the door and went out.

As soon as he walked out of the room, he saw Kathleen. Clearly, she had been waiting for him for a long time.

"Emmett, I have something to talk with you."

Emmett put his hands into the pockets of his suit pants. He looked a little undisciplined. "If it's something related to Marilyn, you don't have to tell me. I'm sick of hearing it."

"What's wrong with Marilyn? She falls head over the heels in love with you and she is also Angela's biological mother. Moreover, she is not young any more. . ."

Emmett interrupted her. "You are also not young anymore. Marry yourself out first."

"Emmett, you..."
