Boyfriend For Rent (They Met Again)

Chapter 51

He’s hurt

He descended down the stairs slowly, till he got to the living room, but stopped abruptly, as he met Evelyn, sitting. He gulped down the lump in his throat, and without saying a word, he walked over to the dining, where he met Nora, setting the table.

“You’re finally here, I thought you weren’t going come down here, I was going to come drag you down myself.” Nora said, while serving food on the plate, and Ivan just flashed her a smile, as he pulled out a chair, and sat down. Normally, he’d tease her, but he was in no mood to do that.

Meanwhile, Nora who have been busy serving food, stopped abruptly, when she didn’t hear her brother say a word, and raising her gaze to look at him, her eyes almost popped out of their sockets, seeing his eyes all puffy and red.

“What happened to your eyes? Did you cried? Who hurt you?” She asked worriedly, as she dropped what she was doing, and walked over to her.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” He gave her a smile, and she gave him a suspicious look, before going to resume what she was doing. Few minutes later, they were already sitting at dining with Eve, who looked guilty, as they started eating.

Minutes later, Ivan suddenly dropped his cutleries, and sighed, before standing up.

“Where are you going? Aren’t you eating?” Nora asked surprisingly, while others minded their business.

“I lost my appetite.” He said, and with that he turned around and walked back into the living room, before leaving the house…

Eve POV

I know his attitude was as a result of my presence. I didn’t want to come here, knowing that he was mad at me, even if I wanted to apologize, I would wait till he’s calmed, before I can do it, but his sister invited me over for dinner, and insisted that I must come, even if I didn’t want to.

My heart kept pounding against my chest, as I picked on my food. His presence was of great effect to me, and I just couldn’t wait for us to finish the food, so I can leave.

He suddenly stood up, and left the dinning, leaving Nora stunned.

“What’s wrong with him?” Nora mumbled, as she stared at him, till he was out of sight, then shrugged and continued eating.

Silence assumed the atmosphere, as the only sound that could be heard, was the one coming from cutleries. After what seemed like forever, I finally finished eating, and thanked him, before leaving.

Walking over to the door, I pulled it open, and looked around, to see if I could spot him anywhere, but gave up and went to my apartment, when I didn’t see him.

I sighed, as I finally walked over to my apartment, and slumped on the couch as soon as I got to the living room. Gosh! I feel so miserable, I’ve never seen Ivan that hurt, what I said was wrong.

My mind drifted to the incident from earlier, and a smile crept on my face. I know this is crazy, but the thought of his lips on mine, keeps giving me a sensation I don’t understand. The sound of my ringing phone jolted me out of my fantasy world, and I rolled my eyes, seeing the caller to be Nina. Why the heck is she calling me now, huh?

“What do you want?” I snapped, as soon as I picked the call, and I heard her gasped from the other end.

“Hey! Don’t destroy my eardrum.” She scoffed.

“I’ll be so happy if I did.” I rolled my eyes.

“Come open the door for me.” She said, and ended the call. What! What did she say? Is she here? That’s not possible.

I stared at my phone screen for seconds, then glanced at my door, which was tightly locked, wondering if she was being serious, or just pulling my legs as usual, it’s late, and she can’t possibly be here at this time of the night, right? It’s not even possible, her mom won’t let her out of the house at this time. My phone beeped, pulling my attention, and I swiped th unlock button, as a message popped on the screen, ‘aren’t you going to open the door for me?’. I rolled my eyes, and dropped my phone, before standing up, and dragged my feet sluggishly to the door.

I peeped through the hole of my door, as I saw her standing there for real. I finally opened the door, and she pushed me out of the way, as she forced herself in, looking all angry.

“Hey what’s happening? Why are you here at this time of the night?” I asked, as I locked the door, and finally went to sit on the couch, giving her a questioning look, while she just crossed her arms on her chest, with a deep frown on her face.

“Are you going to give me that attitude, huh?” I scoffed, as I rolled my eyes. If she wasn’t going to talk to me, why coming here in the first place?

“It’s mom.” She said, and I sighed, as I rested my back on the couch. I knew it, she must have something to do with her sadness.

“What’s it this time around?” I asked, getting frustrated already.

“She insisted that I go to Texas with her cousin, I don’t want to leave here.” She whined and burst into tears.

“Did she throw you out?” I asked, and she shook her head.

“I ran away from home, she’ll force me to go if I stay back there.” She whined, and I sighed. I can feel her pains, I don’t know why her mom is like that, finding fun in frustrating her own child, isn’t that crazy and wicked?

“I’ll go get you some water. Have you eaten already?” I asked, as I stood up, and she shook her head.

“I’ll be back.” I said, before going to the kitchen. Stepping into the kitchen, I poured some water in a glass, and took it to her, before going back to make her something to eat. As soon as I got back into the kitchen, I fixed something for her to eat, which took me just a few minutes. As soon as I was done, I served it on a plate, before taking it to her.

“Thank you.” She said, as she started eating.

“So, have you talked to Ivan about it?” She suddenly asked out of the blues, and I was forced to look at her. Can she just mind her business and eat something?RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

“No, forget it.” I said simply, and sighed.

“Are you out of your mind Eve? You need to tell him this, I know you hate him, but you can’t lose this contract. You’re just going to tell him to act as your boyfriend for just one day, not that it’s going to take forever.” She rushed her words, while I just stared at her unbelievably. If only she knows the big mess I’m in now, then she wouldn’t still be saying this.

“Why not just take a deep breath, drink some water, and mind your business, huh?” I rolled my eyes, before standing up, then walked over to the door, and pulled it open, before walking out to get fresh air. I shouldn’t have allowed her in, she’s just going to frustrate me.

“Was that why you wanted to see me?” I heard a voice behind me, and I froze on my spot. What the heck!
