Chapter 1405 The Dangerous Man
Upon hearing this, Dexter let out a dismissive chuckle. He nodded. "Yes, that's how I've always been in your eyes."
Once harsh words were spoken, there was simply no way to take them back.
She walked past him to stand in front of the window.
"I didn't say anything wrong."
Behind her, silence engulfed the room, with a pervasive sense of despair. It wasn't until some time had passed that a faint sound of the door closing reached her ears. Dexter had left.
Josie stood by the window, watching as the man departed beneath the spread branches of the magnolia tree. His retreating silhouette was silent, never once looking back. She clenched her fists, feeling a heavy discomfort in her heart.
In the study of the Russell Mansion, Selena took the tea offered by the attendant and stepped into the threshold.
"It's so late, and you're still not resting. You're making things difficult for them."
The lights were off, with only the frigid moonlight seeping in through the window. The man sat in the shadows, his aura severely subdued.
The teacup was gently placed on the table. "Is she angry?"
Dexter remained composed. "You've crossed the line."
Selena bent down, smiling faintly in the moonlight. "We're all women, so I can tell she cares about you."
Dexter picked up the lighter from the table, idly fiddling with it out of sheer boredom. "She doesn't trust me."
"If I were her, I wouldn't trust you either. Dexter, when I met you back then, you were only twenty years old. Even though I'm five years older than you, I couldn't see through what you were thinking. You're a very dangerous man. Dangerous men are charming and full of danger. It's normal for her not to trust you."
When Dexter dealt with Selena's matter back then, he had just entered Russell Group. She was at her most vulnerable, kneeling with her hands covering her stomach, begging him to save her.
Back then, Salazar was only thirty-nine years old and fond of violence. Anyone around him would eventually be tortured to death.
Dexter lowered his gaze. "She's not like you."Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Josie wasn't afraid of him.
A slight pause graced the corner of Selena's lips. She had never seen this man like this before.
"Women aren't so different. As long as they care about something, they'll be sensitive. Take my advice and just coax her." Dexter looked up. "What?"
"I'm older than you, young man."
Dexter chuckled. The Russell family had many women older than him, but he had never shown any of them respect.
"The jeweler called. The customized jewelry is ready. You should go pick it up when you have time."
Selena also smiled. "Let me thank you first on behalf of my son."
He lit a cigarette with the lighter. "Salazar wants to see him. I'll ask someone to send him over."
Selena's expression changed slightly. Remembering that man still made her fearful. "Will he..."
"The Russell family never makes mistakes. There's no need to worry about safety issues, especially when it's his own son." "He wouldn't show mercy to his biological son."
On the surface, Salazar had a wife, They lived separately but remained as a family. In the past, he had an affair with Selena but later on changed to Summer.
"Let me go with you, just to be on the safe side."
Through the veil of smoke, Dexter watched her.
"Didn't you mention that the Russell family members never make
mistakes in their affairs? You helped me in the past, and now, I want to return the favor."

Mark spread jam over his bread. "I heard that Dexter came by last night."
"Yes, he's fine," Claudia answered.
"She was so worried previously and should be relieved now. Did they have a quarrel?”
Marilyn was also puzzled. "Yeah, Dexter should have explained everything clearly. Why is Leanne so angry?"
