“Erm…”

“You may go, let me know your response before the day closes,” Alexander said and opened the reports before him.

“I’ll go with you, sir,” Lily agreed.

Alexander looked at her and nodded then permitted her to leave.

A couple of hours later, Alexander Bell and Lily sat on the same table. They had a delicious sets of food before them but they were yet to start eating.

“I found out you grew up in the orphanage,” Alexander Bell spoke.

“That’s right, sir.” She answered. This was supposed to be a date, right? But she couldn’t help but address him officially.

“Your parents…” He said, making Lily’s eyes lit up. Did he know anything about her parent? Cause honestly, Lily didn’t have the faintest idea of how her parents looked like. All she know about them was what Mila, the mathron in the orphanage told her. It’s ironical to her how the mathron in the orphanage she grew up in ended up as Amelia’s mom.

Lily waited for him to speak but instead he was quiet, as if he intentionally put her in suspense.

“Did you know anything about then, sir?” Lily asked.

“I do.” He answered. Lily’s heart skipped fearfully at his response. Her appetite to eat suddenly dissapeared.

“Sir… please tell me what you know about them. I don’t know them, I was only told they are dead and that I was found as a baby by the street.” She explained.

“They are alive,” Alexander answered.

Lily’s heart dropped. She pinched herself to be sure this wasn’t a dream. She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh, “sir … erm… You mean my parents are alive?”

“Many years ago, your parents were doing just fine, living a peaceful life until your dad suddenly started keeping a mistress. This mistress became a thorn in your parent’s marriage. Your dad gives much attention to this mistress more than your mum, but this period, your mum was already pregnant for you. You were her first child but a few weeks before she will deliver you, she caught your dad and his mistress having sex. So she divorced your dad because of that and travelled down to America.”

“My parents aren’t American citizen?”

“No. The mistress who ruined your parent’s marriage was said to later run away from your dad after stealing almost all he has.” Alexander further explained. Then he brought out a picture and showed it to her, “did you know this woman?”

On examining the picture, Lily answered, “I do. Is that my mom?”

“She is.”

Lily stood, the revelation was too much to bear.

“Please sit.” Michael said.

Lily sat back, she was literally going crazy, “she’s our mathron at the orphanage, how come she’s…”

Lily suddenly remembered that Mila used to give her special treatment during her days in the orphanage. But how come she’s also Amelia’s mother? Lily was confused.

“Is this true, sir?” Lily asked.

“Why don’t you confront her and ask?” Alexander asked her.

Can’t be… Lily thought to herself. Mila even came to her few months ago telling her to leave NewYork. Mila is Amelia’s mother cause she has shown how much she loves Amelia but for her… can’t be… No? Lily’s head began to bang seriously. She lowered her head and placed her hands around it.

“It’s okay if you are not able to eat anymore. This was why I brought you here,” Alexander said and added, “let me drive you home.”

Lily stood and followed him outside. On getting outside, Lily sighted Amelia and Mila stepping down from the car, apparently, they were going to the restaurant.

“That’s her,” Lily pointed to Mila.

“Go on.” Alexander said calmly.

Lily ran to her and stood before her. Amelia and Mila frowned deeply on seeing her.

“Lily, have you gone of your mind? Get out from my mom’s sight,” Amelia said.

“Mum…” Lily bursted out.

Amelia was shocked at Lily’s word.

“Mum? Who are you calling ‘mum?'” Amelia asked Lily. “Mum, this Lily has gone insane.”

‘How did you find out?” Amelia ignored Mila and asked Lily. Lily and Mila were now looking into each other’s blue eyes sqaurely.

Tears poured like heavy rain from Lily’s face. So Mila was actually her mom yet she let her live like am orphan all these years. Mila was never there for her.

“Why?” She asked with a shivering mouth, crying heavily.

“Your dad makes me hate you. That bastard cheated on me despite giving him my heart. I loved him with passion and even gave him all my father’s inheritance that ran into millions of dollars, I trusted him but as soon as he impregnated me, I found out he was keeping a mistress. I confronted him with tears on my face but he apologized and promised me to stop.” She added with tears now streaming down her face, “but did that bastard, stop? No. A few weeks before I will deliver, I caught him fucking that same mistress so I left and came over here to America.”

She continued, “I took over the mathron job, delivered you and signed you as one of the orphanage babies. I don’t want to call a produce of that bastard my own daughter. Amelia was a produce of another man who died three years after I delivered Amelia. Unlike your father, Amelia’s father was so sweet and loving.”

Lily continuing crying like a baby, “so you abandoned me because of the hatred you have for my father?”

“Yes…” Mila looked away, tears still streaming down her face. She cleaned the tears on her face and looked back at her, “but I did not regret it. Lily, I hate you.” Then she held Amelia’s arms and said to her, “let’s go.”

Lily watched as Amelia and Mila walked away.

The pain she felt was inexplicable. So Amelia was actually her half sister and Mila her biological mother. She cried out, sobbing aggressively. The pain in her heart was too intense, it was as if hot coals were being poured on it. She cried hard for many minutes until her eyes and head start aching.

So her mother lied to her for years that her mother was dead whereas, she was actually her mother. What sort of miserable life has she come to?

Michael stood by a distance watching her cry. He didn’t approach her. To him, sometimes, it’s good to let people cry out their pain. After many minutes had passed, he walked up to her and said, “I’ll drive you home.”

Before Lily stepped down from the car, she managed to speak, “thank you, sir.”

Alexander only nodded. Afterwards, Lily stepped out of the car and walked inside. Whereas, there was Drake Bell watching from his transparent window as Lily stepped down from Alexander’s car.

If their relationship was just a boss to an employee relationship, Alexander wouldn’t drive her here. There must be something deeper going on between these two, Drake Bell thought to himself.

Lord Bell and some highly respected clan members had made Alexander and Drake sign an agreement not to interfere into each other’s matters some time ago but this is complicated. Lily was the mother of his children but at the same time, Lily is Alexander’s secretary. After seeing Alexander Bell drove away, he set his gaze on Lily who was already about entering the house. To his surprise, he noticed that her face was swollen, as if she had been crying.

He clenched his fist and mumbled, “did Alexander dare to hurt her?”

He immediately left his room in an attempt to ask what had happened to her.
