Chapter 28 Ismael's Support

Chapter 28 Ismael's Support

Hearing the sound of the door closing, Nancy got up and walked out of the dining room to look into the living room.

There was no trace of Edison and Gwenyth.

Only two pairs of slippers were left on the foyer floor.

She sat back down sullenly, looking at the salad and pancakes on the table and losing her appetite.

"What's wrong?"

Ismael asked in surprise.

He was getting old and his hearing was not as good as Nancy's. He thought Edison was in the living room.

"Grandpa, Eddie took that woman out."

Ismael immediately became angry and slammed the fork in his hand hard on the table.

Nancy was startled and said quietly, "Grandpa, you're not well. Don't be angry."

"What exactly is this woman's relationship with Eddie?"

Nancy wanted to tell the truth, but she was afraid Ismael wouldn't be able to handle the shock.

She watched Ismael's face carefully, thought for a moment, and said, "Grandpa, how are you feeling now? Are you breathing well? Is it hard for you to breathe?"

"I'm fine, just tell me what you know, I'm not going to go into shock just because of Eddie's affair."

Hearing this, Nancy finally calmed down.

"The woman's name is Gwenyth Lovelace. Eddie paid her to piss me off."

She told the story of how Edison publicly posted the news of their breakup on Instagram, and then hired Gwenyth to provoke her.

"Miss Lovelace must have stayed here last night. She seems very short of money and looks broke. I think she has an inferior motive. She always wants to get into Eddie's bed."

Ismael had tall statues and was an old man. He didn't remember that there was a nutritionist named Ursula who took care of his meals every day. And of course, he didn't remember Ursula's daughter either.

He felt nothing but anger when he heard Nancy's words.

"Eddie is going too far. And you, why did you refuse Eddie's proposal? You know very well that I want you to get married sooner."

Nancy immediately showed a face of resignation with tears in her eyes.

She lowered her head and sobbed in a small voice.

"Grandpa, you know my status. I am an illegitimate daughter. My mother died young, and my father has not cared for me for many years. I have no status or background. I want to make something of myself while I'm young, so that people won't look down on me, and so that Eddie won't be judged by people behind his back for marrying someone like me."

She wiped tears from her eyes as she spoke.

Ismael pulled out some tissue for her, patting her on the shoulder.

As she cried, Ismael's anger subsided.

He didn't even know this child had such a spine.

"Who says there's no one to support you? I'm here for you. No one dares to bully you."

Though not in good health and now in his eighties, he was born with the bearing of a king and spoke with great poise.

Nancy wiped away her tears with a handkerchief and murmured in a low voice, "Grandpa, I really don't want you to get mad at Eddie. If you get into a fight over me, I will feel so guilty. Eddie is probably just trying to have some fun. I told you about this, but please do not get involved. Let me talk to Eddie first, okay?"

Ismael sighed helplessly, "You are so thoughtful and lovable."

"Grandpa, I like Eddie a lot. He's the only man I want to marry. But please give me a little more time. I'm not asking for a long time, just a year or two. I want to marry him decently after I have a successful career. That way you and Eddie will not be embarrassed by me. Eddie is always worried about your health, afraid that you cannot wait that long, so he has been pushing me very hard. And he hired Miss Lovelace to push me. But I think Eddie worries too much. Grandpa, you're so good, you're definitely going to live a long life."

Her words were so sweet and made Ismael so happy.

"Kid, you're such a joy."

Seeing a smile on Ismael's face, Nancy secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as Ismael promised to give her some more time, Edison's attempt would be useless.

"Since you have your own ideas, I'll just wait another year or two."

Nancy cried with excitement and joy, "Grandpa, you are so kind."

"Come on, don't cry. Eat something."

"Grandpa, you stay here and have breakfast. I'll go get Eddie."

Ismael nodded and picked up a shrimp from the salad with his fork while Nancy wiped away her tears, got up and walked out.

A continental breakfast place not far from the Moonlight Villa....

Edison had already ordered it.

Looking at the attractive dishes on the table, such as cappuccino, ham and fig salad, pancakes, juice, nut yogurt and so on, Gwenyth had no appetite.

She was surprised and shocked when Edison dragged her out like that, even though his grandfather and Nancy were still there. But at the same time, she thought that maybe Edison was just acting in front of Nancy.

It wasn't the first time he'd done that anyway.

"Why aren't you eating?"

Edison looked up at her with a pale expression, unable to tell if he was in a good or bad mood.

"I'm not hungry."

Edison picked up a fig with his fork and placed it on the plate in front of her, "If you don't eat, you won't have the strength to take care of me."

As he spoke, he raised his left arm, which was in a cast.

"I'm not going to work today. You will stay home with me and not go anywhere."

Gwenyth was about to speak when she suddenly saw Nancy push open the door to the breakfast place and walk in.

Nancy knew that Edison liked the salad at that restaurant.

As she walked outside the store, she noticed him and Gwenyth sitting inside, eating through the floor-to-ceiling glass window, and she just walked right in.

She walked up to them, pulled out the chair next to Edison, and sat down. Then she poured herself a cup of coffee and ate the food on the table, like she was supposed to be here.

As soon as she appeared, Edison lost his appetite.

He put down his fork, leaned his back against the back of the chair, and took his cigarette case out of his pocket. Then he deftly shook out a cigarette, bit on it with his lips, and lit it with a lighter.

"Grandpa promised to give me a year or two to marry you."

Nancy turned her head to look at him with a winning smile.

He exhaled a puff of smoke and ignored her words.

She added, "I already know about the agreement between the two of you. So either you cancel it now or pay this Miss Lovelace to get out of here. In short, I don't want to see her again."

The breakfast place wasn't very crowded.

Nancy and Edison had been in the news lately. Handsome men and beautiful women were always the center of attention.

These people looked in their direction from time to time and quickly recognized them.

Some people took pictures with their cell phones, and some even ran over excitedly to take pictures with Nancy and ask for her autograph.

Nancy was very well-behaved in public and fulfilled all the wishes of her fans. Even though she knew that someone was secretly filming her, she did not care.

She was happy to take advantage of the netizens to get another trending topic for her and Edison. In that case, she could get a big boost in popularity.

Seeing that she was happy to interact with her fans, Edison put out the cigarette in his hand, got up and pulled Gwenyth out of the breakfast shop.

As Nancy started to follow them, a waitress stopped her.

"Miss, please pay the bill." Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Nancy was furious, but there were some fans around who wanted to get her autograph. She was being watched by so many people that she couldn't lose her temper.

She nodded and smiled, then followed the waitress to the cashier to pay.
