Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 161

Chapter 161

Luca’s POV

I sat down in my seat after pulling the chair beside mine out for Sofia, some seconds after we got

shown to it. It was one of the tables in the front or the crowd and we were assigned this particular table

as a sign of respect. I turned around and stared at Sofia, to see her focused on a scene that was

currently playing out before her, and I followed her gaze to see what it was that she was staring at. She

was watching a bunch of children dressed in white play together with a blank expression on her face

and I watched her for some moments more, before stretching my hand out and touching her cheek

lightly with my thumb, and she jolted a little as she turned around to stare at me.

“Are you alright?” I asked after a few moments had passed after she had turned around to stare at me,

and it had seemed like I had forgotten what it was that I wanted to say at first. I watched as she nodded

her head a couple of times to my question, and god damn, she looked so beautiful right now.

I willed my head to clear out as I once again attempted to start to speak.

“Would you be alright on your own?” I asked the exact question that I had wanted to ask before,

thankfully coming out this time.

I watched as her eyes widened a little as her mouth started to part a little.

“Um, you’re leaving me alone?” She asked, as her eyes started to flutter a little, and I felt my eyes

squeeze tight in the middle of my chest, as I heard the vulnerability and cracks in her voice. I started to

shake my head instantly. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

“No, no. I’m not leaving you on your own, I just have to go see some really important people to discuss

a few things with them, I’ll be back in a little while.” I explained to her and it didn’t spark any joy in my

chest when her face only managed to fall even more.

“Oh.” She muttered in a low voice and I watched as she started to worry her teeth over her lower lips. It

was really a bad timing at the moment because I’d have done what I’d do to her on a normal day where

I didn’t have to care about what people around me were going to think If they saw me hugging my wife.

It wasn’t like I was scared of what it is that they’d think after seeing be affectionate with her, it was

about the fact that I didn’t want those said people to figure out the fact that she was starting to mean

something to, because I didn’t want her to ever be in a situation that could be really harmful to her, all

because I was being affectionate with her in public.

“Look at me.” I murmured lowly and I watched as she lifted her head up instantly to stare up at me, and

the urge to pull her into me, to stroke my fingers through her hair and hug her body against mine was

so strong, that I had to squeeze my hands on my thighs a little, until that gripping feeling had passed,

before I decided to continue to speak.

“I’m not leaving you, alright? There are just some things that are really important, and I just have to do

them since I’m already here at the moment.” I said to her before continuing after a few seconds had

paaaed and all Sodiq did was to blink at me without saying a thing.

“I won't be taking long, alright?” I said to her and made sure she gave a nod of her head. I couldn’t help

myself, I reached out and pushed her hair out her gaur a little, before pushing out of my seat and

making my way towards where I had sighted one of my generals, as I fought the urge to turn back

around to see if she’d be staring at my back as I was currently walking away from her.

I was still going to be watching her from where I was currently heading to, coupled with the fact that I

had over five guards in here at the moment, and they were all focused and watching her and ensuring

nothing happens to her in here.

I shook my head a little just as I was beside the man that I had left Sofia to come speak to, and he had

come forward to meet me halfway.

We exchanged a couple of words and then I began to ask him what it was that was so important that

he was making noise about it being too important to wait until Sunday when I had declared our mafia’s

meeting to be moved towards. He didn’t want to speak about it at first, but ended up speaking when I

pressed on, and once he was done, I didn’t know if I was supposed to be disappointed or surprised. I

told him we’d discuss it further on Sunday at the meeting and after a few more minutes, we were both

going our separate ways.

I was watching Sofia all those while and she wasn’t doing much, if she wasn’t on her phone, then she

was just staring around everywhere, and I didn’t miss how almost every man in here was checking her

out, although they were trying to hide it, it didn’t fail to leave a bitter taste in my mind that other men

were checking my wife out that way, even though they knew damn well that she was completely mine.

Just as I was about to make my way back towards Sofia to go check on her, before making my way

towards the second person I wanted to exchange a few words tonight, I got stopped by a body

shouldering mine out of nowhere. I hadn’t seen that coming. Which had made me staffer a little, and as

soon as I had regained my footing, I turned my head to stare at eco it was that had shoved me, and my

eyes locked with that of someone I had last saw in a really long time.

“What’s up with your reflexes man?” He drawled out and I shook my head a little with a small chuckle

escaping my lips, and I moved my fingers into my hair to push it off my face.

“If this isn’t Travis Monroe.” I breathed out and the both of us stood still, staring at each other for a few

seconds, before we were both moving at the same time to take each other in a deep embrace.

“Man, it’s been forever.” He gushed out as soon as we’ve both separated and I nodded my head

instantly, agreeing with him automatically.

“Where have you been? After all these while, you literally just upped one day and disappeared without

letting anyone know, and that’s not cool one bit.” I said to him after a few moments with a flat

expression taking over my face.

“Honestly? It was completely unplanned for me as well, and assuming I didn’t disappear the way I did,

there was a high probability that I’d have ended up dying the very next day.” Travis explained with a

grim facial expression and I turned my head around to check on Sofia before turning my head around

to stare at Travis once again.

Travis and I had been a little bit close when I was in high school. I’d say he was the second most close

friend I’ve ever made, after James, so maybe it had hurt a little when I had suddenly woken up one day

and found out that he was nowhere to be found.

My father had still been alive back then, which had automatically made me less emotional than I was

supposed to be in a normal day, about the fact that my second closest friend in the world was suddenly

missing.

Travis wasn’t an Italian person, by his name and accent, you’d have been able to tell that he was most

definitely not one of us, but for some reasons, his parents and him had suddenly moved into Italy and

decided to settle down there. After he and his family suddenly disappeared, it made me start to wonder

if it was the fact that they were running from something all these while, and then at the time they had

suddenly gotten missing, that the said thing had suddenly caught up with them.

I could remember being sad about it for sometime, but it had been easy to stop thinking about it,

because of the fact that my best friend was there all along, and it had been very easy to lose myself in

his company and forget about the fact that I had lost a really close friend of mine.

And now, he had completely shown up out of nowhere.

“What have you been up to? Tell me about everything man.” I said to him and I watched as he grinned

for a moment.
