Chapter 1 

NORA. 

I am Nora Aderson, daughter of the late Alpha Alexander and the destined Alpha of the Firecold pack. My mother died during childbirth and my father had no other choice but to get married to my aunt who fell pregnant within a few months. 

My step–sister, Lara, hated me with every bone inside her. She saw me as a threat, a competition, and never stopped to condemn me, saying that I killed my mother. We grew up despising each other as my stepmom fueled the hatred in her daughter’s heart. 

One thing I am sure of is that Lara had the looks, she was a stunning blonde who captivated the eyes of men. I was nothing but a plain brunette but I was the smartest and strongest wolf in the pack, a pride of my father’s eye. 

Growing up, I was trained into a fierce Alpha, I knew that one day, I would have to become the Alpha of the pack after my father’s death and my father got me ready for such a tedious task 

A few months ago, my father lost his life in a battle with a rival pack and I began the process to succeed him in the throne. But everything changed when I met Derrick deep in the woods among some group of rogues a few weeks back and instantly, we knew we were fated mates. The mate bond between us was so strong that we found it impossible to resist each other. 

Derrick was a stunning handsome werewolf with every quality I needed in a mate. His long blonde hair, sharp blue eyes, tall height, and well–built muscular body were to die for. 

Hell in love with him at first sight and saw nothing but my future with him.

“Nora, promise me that you would give up your position and crown me the Alpha of your pack?” Derrick asked me, the third week we met, his fingers wrapped around mine.

Startled, I stuttered. 

“I don’t know if it’s possible,” I muttered, unable to process his request. 

He appeared hurt. “Then you don’t love me.” He said, looking away. 

I was crushed by his statement, I went close to him and drew his face closer to mine. “I love you, so much Derrick but I don’t know if it’s possible to give out my birthright to you, I am not certain if the elders of the pack will agree to this.” 

Derrick frowned, “Why won’t they agree? It’s your birthright and only you have the power to give it out. Or is it because I am a rouge?” 

I shook my head. “I don’t care about what anyone thinks, you are my mate and I will do anything to make you happy. But, you must promise to make me your Luna as soon as you are crowned Alpha.” 

Derrick held my hands and kissed them, “I vow to you Nora, you will be my Luna and I will love you for as long as I breathe.” He promised and I was star–struck in love. 

A few nights later, I watched Derrick crowned the Alpha of the Firecold pack, my pack. 

The night was already dead silent and I knew it was taboo for me to meet Derrick so late but I couldn’t decline his call when he sent for me. 

“Nora” A familiar voice called out behind me. 

I turned and was surprised to see Lara, my step–sister.

She wore a flowing pink dress, and her blonde hair still looked well–brushed as the moonlight shone on it 

Lara possessed the body of a curvy goddess and it wasn’t long before she was given a mate whom she rejected. 

“What do you want?” I asked her..

She smirked evilly. “What do I want?” She asked rhetorically and chuckled, “All these years, even before the death of my father, I have always viewed you as a strong and intelligent Alpha. The pride of father’s eyes and the future leader of this great pack but I never knew that you would turn foolish after father’s death.” 

I smiled. 

I wasn’t surprised. Lara has always sought ways to get under my skin but tonight isn’t the night. 

“I don’t have your time,” I said and turned away. 

Lara laughed. “Oh, I see. Goodnight then.” She laughed again and walked away. 

There was something strange about her laughter, it was creepy and I could feel it crawl on my skin. 

I watched her walk away as I narrowed my gaze watching her.

I stood in front of his room door, my face filled with smiles. 

“Come in.” I heard him call from inside immediately I knocked, 

I walked in and turned to Derrick who smiled at me. 

“My love.” He muttered, stretching forth his arms. 

I ran into them and he wrapped his arms around me so lovingly, my head pressed on his chest as I felt him slowly stroke my back so tenderly 

I let go of his grip, our eyes stuck together. 

“You are finally the Alpha, congratulations love,” I said to him, feeling fulfilled. 

Derick’s eyes twinkled at my words, “This was possible because of your sacrifice.” He placed a soft kiss on my lips, I could feel my heart begin to race. 

Suddenly, Derrick carried me in his arms, and I laughed. 

“Put me down,” I said in between laughter. 

He gently placed me on the bed and placed a soft kiss on my neck. 

To my surprise, I moaned and escaped my lips. 

“Baby, I want you now,” Derrick whispered, sniffing me, he gently went down to my cleavage and kissed it. 

Heat began to rise inside of me. I could feel my blood running wild through each vein and what I wanted at that moment was to let him have a way with my body.

Before I could reply, Derrick grabbed my left boobs and that streck me, immediately, I jumped out of the bed. 

“No, We can’t do this,” I said firmly. 

Derrick’s surprised face turned into a frown. “But why?” 

I was stunned by his question, “You and I know the reason. I am till a virgin and I need to remain a virgin until after the night I am crowned your Lana. Losing my virginity now comes with its punishment and I don’t want that” 

Derrick sighed loudly, he got on his feet, rolled his eyes, and dug his hand into his pockets. 

“No one will know.” He said. 

“What?” 

He walked closer to me and grabbed my face tenderly, “Nora, look at me, look into my eyes, and tell me that you don’t know how much I love you.”

My heart was beating faster than ever. There is nothing but deep sincerity written in his eyes, they were so sharp that it pierced through my heart but I can’t, I just can’t. 

“We can’t do this. Derrick I will be made Luna in the next full moon, that’s like two weeks away from tonight. Please, we have endured this for months, why can’t we know that we only have two weeks left?” My eyes lingered as I stared into his 

eyes. 

Derrick’s eyes hardened, he didn’t look pleased at my response. 

“We can keep it a secret, no one has to know.” He held my hand, stroking it, “You love me and I love you more than you can imagine. I know and understand all that you said but I can’t fight this bond between us anymore, even your scent alone turns me on and you get me more intoxicated than I can imagine. Please, let me touch you tonight, no one will know.” 

He drew his face closer to mine in an attempt to kiss me but I turned my face away. 

“Shit!” Derrick cursed out loudly, stepping his feet so hard on the ground that he punched a nearby wall. 

I was shocked by his outburst. “What’s going on Derrick? You have been so patient with me, what’s happening now?” I asked, tears filling my eyes, “I know that you have the right to my body you are my mate and I shouldn’t starve you from me. Trust me. I feel so guilty that I can’t give you what you want. I don’t want to break the pack rule, the punishment will be so severe if anyone finds out.” I said, watching him as he stared at the closed window. 

Slowly, he turned to me, this time, there was a smile on his face. 

“It’s fine, I understand. I am sorry for acting like a jerk, it’s not your fault.” He came closer and hugged me tightly. 

“I am sorry.” He whispered and kissed my hair, sniffing its scent at the same time. 

I nodded, feeling relieved. 

“Let’s toast to my new life,” Derrick announced and I laughed 

“I like the sound of that.” I sat on the couch as he walked closer to the mini bar in the room and opened a bottle of wine. 

“Here, this is to a new beginning” Derrick voiced out and we clicked our glasses. 

We sat, talking, laughing and soon, we both laid on the bed, our eyes fixed on each other. 

I felt the rise of the alcohol inside of me burying to knock it off my system.
