Chapter 42: Drugs

“My day was freaky good.” she replied and followed them to the dinning for dinner. It seemed as if they were waiting for her to return before eating.

As they are, Kate remembered the white substance she took from Liam’s room earlier.

“That reminds me, hold on!” she said and ran into the room to pick it up.

When she returned, she dropped it in the table for them to see.

“Look, I found this in Liam’s room earlier and got a but suspicious. Do you have any idea what this is?” she asked them.

“That’s just a powder or probably something else. Luke a finished product yea.” Anita said as she kept eating her food like it’s none of her business.

Andre was already frozen.

The shock was evident in his face as he wondered how Kate was able to hold this from the downtown of the City to this place.

“Where did you say you found this?” he asked for clarification.

“In Liam’s room.” she responded.

“Who is Liam?” he asked.

He didn’t think he had heard of the name before.

“Umm, actually, Liam is Thomas’ co-worker at the station. Not just that, he is Kate’s man. They have been together for sometime and Thomas supports the relationship because he recommended Liam to Kate even though the duo already met.” Anita explained the case to Andre.

Andre couldn’t believe his ears.

“You should quit that shit if a relationship.” he spat.

Anita and Kate froze.

“Andre why will you say that to her. There us invalid reason for her to do as you have just said.” Anita was the first to speak up after a long silence.

“This is an illegal drug. How many if this did you see?” he asked, facing Kate.

She then remembered that it was uncountable in his room and she only managed to pick one.

“It was more than one and almost uncountable.” she said.

Anita was stunned.

“Your boyfriend is a drug lord. You should run because your life is in danger. Also, keep mute and don’t ask him about this else, you are gone.”

“You mean he would kill me? But why?”.

“Because your eyes has seen what it shouldn’t have.”

“No but, I can send security guards to you if you don’t mind. As long as you are around Anita, I can do anything for you.” he promised.

“Oh my world! What did I get myself into?” Kate spat as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Kate no. Don’t do this.” Anita said and tried to console her.

Their precious dinner was ruined just like that.

Andre opened the nylon and analysed the content in it.

“The police are in demand for such people, because they are very harmful to our society. Since your man does drug, there is a high possibly that Thomas is involved in drugs but covering up with the fact that he is a police officer.” Andre stated all possibilities.

Anita froze in shock.

No way!

Her man was a responsible policeman.

She wasn’t going to buy that idea.

Andre looked at the ladies ad he felt sorry for them. He shouldn’t have been so blunt to them, but he had to. These women didn’t deserve to be with such scums.

“Andre, I refuse to believe that Thomas is a drug lord. I have watched him save lives. He has helped the poor and he had also helped fight the biggest crimes in the City. He should be against drugs, because the last time I was on a mission to report a case, you were with me and I’m sure you watched him fought again the drug syndicate. If someone could do those things, how else di you think he will be involved in such. All Thomas has ever wanted was for the citizens to tryst him and I am helping him achieve that because he deserves it.”

Andre smiled. Seeing how naively she was speaking made him chuckle.

It was obvious that Tho as was in her heart all day, but then again, he still had to try to open her mind.

“Yes, there’s no doubt that he us doing those things, but have you ever thought about why he us so obsessed with the society’s trust? If he is doing a great job and from his mind, why the he’ll does he need validation? Her new tell you, he is doing that so that no one would suspect him. From the City’s past record, it was once said that the Drug Lord in the Society seems to get away freely because they had partners in crime who is hiding under the cover of being from the force, but there was no proof to back it up. Only those that disobeyed the drug lords in disguise if police officers were caught, exposed and sentenced.” he said and decided to stop there for now.

He knew that no matter what he said, Anita would never believe that her life was at stake as long as there was no strong evidence to back it up.

He wanted to protect her. He loved her!

He decided that he was going to instruct his Assistant to help investigate Thomas thoroughly. The last time, he only asked to know if he was a good person without having to pick important details, but this time, he was going to be merciless with his finding. He trusted his team to help him do that.

After some moments, he decided to help settle the ladies in.

When he felt like they could finally be okay on their own, he attempted to leave, but was held back.

“You really don’t have to go Andre. It’s late already. Please stay!” Anita said to him.

Andre became stunned.

Did she just ask him to stay?

Her eyes were already so red due to tears, all thanks to that monster…
